I didn't know what the adjustment wheel did, and now it works like a champ. I'm glad I'm not the only bozo who didn't know how to use this tool correctly.

I’ve had this for years, it’s very good. Unfortunately for me, in the UK the Klein after sales service is poor. I needed spares for my drivers which needed to be imported from the USA. The postage makes the spares more expensive than the tool was originally. Now, I’m just starting to swap out my Klein tool kit ( which is pretty extensive, and full of stuff I really rate ) for Knipex/Wera/Wiha replacements. Klein, you need to step up your game in the UK, after buying lots of your gear I now have to buy it all again. When using this wire stripper, you can set the cut depth you want and replicate it time after time, on flat twin & earth it’s super fast, one click removes the outer sheath, another strips the insulation on the L & N.
Thanks for explaining that the left knob adjusts tension. I got a pair, no manual supplied, and I couldn't see anything moving when I turned the (rather stiff) left knob.
How does it perform in different insulation like XHHN or THWNwith thick insulation where the outside thickness doesn't determine wire guage like THHN does
I've got mine and it feels like there is something wrong with it. I don't know if that's intended but, it works like two step pool, two action. The metal bits in between grabbing claws is like catching itself half way and I can see a mark on metal piece where it is scratched. I was thinking maybe it will even itself over time and will become smooth, I don't know, What do you think?
I have one of these but it doesn't really strip, it just mangles the plastic . Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to turn the knob to increase tension maybe?
How to choose between the Model 11063 and this one, the self-adjusting stripper (Model 11061)? I will use it with electronics, so I need something for smaller wire - it needs to handle 20-26 AWG at minimum. The 11061 tops out at 20-22. The 11063 tops out around there, too, with the blade it comes with, but you can swap in a blade that handles smaller wires - up to AWG 26. But, it's $30!! - which more than doubles the price. So, I guess I need to get the 11063, if I decide to spend that much. I just wish Klein would include the smaller blade in the purchase since it seems to be the only advantage over the 11061. Any thoughts?
The one in this video does not, but you can get Chinese clones of this model that is identical except for the wire cutters in the middle are replaced with various crimpers. They are usually orange in color and all over eBay/Amazon.
Hi Klein , I have the same type wire tool, now when i try to strip even the micro wire and the maximum wire , the grip slips and the tool is not doing it,s job, tried many ways to fix it ,, it turns no use ,, is there a way any one can help me to repair it.
Only problem with that tool in my experience is the par where the part that pulls back the insulation it bites on insulation and nicks it as it pulls back exposing wires within the insulation .
I have used this stripper and found that this is only useful for stripping individual wires and not a cable having two, three or more wires means a two core, three core or multi core cables like computer networking cables having many wires inside an insulating cover. When such a cable is stripped using this stripper, it strips everything that is outer as well as the inner insulations of the wires so we can't only strip the outer insulation and then strip the wires inside one by one according to desired length. If a cable is to be stripped then we'll have to use a sharp knife to first cut the outer insulation and then use this stripper to strip the wires inside
Is there a wire stripper that holds onto the stripping? I'm so tired of having to go around and pick up all the stripping that don't make it to my trash can!
You guys forgot to mention the cutter is replaceable and the stop is metal. The competition uses plastic stops and the wire cutter is part of the handle, making it impossible to replace when it dulls.
I got one and tried sliding the wire through the little hole. I couldn't figure it out and went back to my regular stripper. I can strip wires by feel with scissors but this tool seems neat.
I must have a defective tool. It literally does nothing when I put a wire in it. I've tried turning the adjuster as tight as it will go. Update. It strips new wire just fine however it will not strip any old wire in my 50+ year old car.
I've used them before. Not bad for RW90 stranded #10AWG, but otherwise not a fan of them. I have a regular set of klein strippers one that is 20-10AWG and one that is 10-6AWG. That being said I rarely even use strippers just use my pliers. The auto one works cool but with the price and size no thanks. Unless my company buys me a pair I'd never pay for them out of pocket. Just not worth it to me.
Whoever invented these type of strippers was an absolute hero and a genuine genius
Whoever invented this stripper deserve a stripper, if you know what i mean ;D
Great video. The instructions that came with mine weren't very clear and this video explained everything.
These videos are nice to watch sometimes for the satisfaction. Just like hearing the click of a torque wrench.
Very helpful video. I got one of these knowing it would be useful as soon as I learned how to use it... Now I know! Great tool, great features.
I didn't know what the adjustment wheel did, and now it works like a champ. I'm glad I'm not the only bozo who didn't know how to use this tool correctly.
Same here. I even took off the length adjustment assembly on the side thinking they were messed up. I actually prefer it off!…Sheeesh! Great pickup!
This was such a life saver video! Got one and had no idea how to use it! Thank you!!!
me too!
Same here bud lol!
Hello: this tool is great. No more yanking/pulling or bad cuts. Easy to use and beautiful stripping.
Absolutely great tool, fantastic for cutting the sheathing on multi conductor wire.

Bought this tool today based on the video. We'll see how it works out.
Wow it is best equipment. Every Electrical engineer should have this.
Electrical engineers strip wire a lot?

yeah that's exactly what brought me here today lol hello from 5 years later

just picked up one today. works great...
You can never go wrong with kleins

What do you think?
Have them. Love them.
Mitch Williams I love you.
8awg stranded?
Thank u for this... Now I can go and buy a few of these ☺️
hey guys is this kind of wire stripper suitable for RJ45/ CAT5/6 cable work ?
Thanks boss, getting that lame-ass wire stopper out of the way was the key.
For me,kleins tools are the best tool,,
Will it work on 16/2 speaker wire ?
I have one of these but it doesn't really strip, it just mangles the plastic . Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to turn the knob to increase tension maybe?
Have a pair, honestly never used them. Didn’t know they had this many features lol
Bought these... Cool in theory... Doesn't fit in a box very well ... Went right back to my regular strippers!
You shouldn't be stripping inside a junction box. That would mean wires are too short.

looks fantastic... by chance does it also crimp various connectors?

I don’t know if mine is defective but it will not strip thhn right out the box
I wished it had a loop hole like a normal stripper. My only complaint so far after owning it for a week.

You can swap it where you bought it for a new one.

So nice stripping #10 PV wire in cold weather.
Where I can buy Klein tools on Europe
I want this for Christmas
Can this be used on vehicle battery terminal wire?
Been wanting one of these for a while. What's it like for thin wires Ie RG59 power dc?
Does it do coaxial cable?
I like the automatic stripper but the stop block does not stay put. The set screw backs out after 2-3 strips.
I second this. It's very annoying.

Would this tool help with stripping large amounts of wires for scrap metal?
No.
Can it strip a CAT5e cable?
What maximum outer sheath diameter (round type- 3 core) can get in/be stripped with this auto wire stripper?
Did you ever find out if it will? I'm interested in using this with a 14/2 with a ground

Unfortunately not, I want one too.
where is it made
Please start making the heavy duty strippers to include 22 gauge stranded for communication wires
Hello Jack. We appreciate the feedback. We will pass along your feedback to our product teams.
that is a nice tool, but the cheaper kncok offs of it even have crimping ability below the cutter
Awesome!, I have one, could use a crimper
is the moveable wire stop metal or plastic?
Metal
Every wire stripper of this type didn't last very long - would pay more for one that always worked.
$21? Hot damn I was expecting $50.
10 bucks on harbor freight

The depth gauge is annoying and should be removeable as a feature, and not using pliers to break off the c-clip holding it in.
