Awesome! I was the kid with thier father that came in and played that twelve string and got those stickers yesterday! Thanks for letting me try this guitar, very nice finish on it :)
The earlier AR805CE's had pickguard-mounted pickups, and were even more alive (acoustically) than the one you're playing. I really don't get why they started top mounting the pickups. They have several other models with top mounted pickups! But then, I play Swing, and need an acoustic archtop sound, so I searched out and found earlier ones.
Agreed, the AR-805 is a spectacular guitar. Mine came with a cracked top (solid tone wood top). Then a AR-880 (solid tone wood top) Awesome guitar but I always worried about another crack. Now I have a AR 480 CE (laminate top, like a ES-175), no more worries about a cracked top. The John Pisano model Eastmans are all really great guitars.
John, thanks for answering my question yesterday...if you sell these. I like the music video coming first and then you talk about them. What is the neck profile, scale and nut? Thanks Matt and John.
I just ordered an Eastman 905NC which was a Sitka/flame maple 17" archtop that they made for a short while. I think that this one was a custom order though as I can't find anything about it online really. Couldn't believe the price, this would be 10-15k guitar if it said Gibson on the HS. But picked it up pretty mint for $1700. Can't wait for it to arrive.
Hi, I am blind and watching your video so I cannot see the guitar itself. My question is not about the pick up but truly about the guitar and 7:55 how does it sound completely unplugged I love the idea of the old 1920s West Montgomery Sound kind of I guess you might say but I was looking for a guitar that could go completely acoustic or be plugged in and I guess I’m not clear on whether this guitar has that ability or not, sorry to sound like an idiot but I’ve been playing blues guitar my whole life since I was 13 and at 50. I am going back to school at Berkeley now to get a masters degree and I’m doing it in jazz and I am trying to learn the 244 chords, but I have to tell you switching to the right guitar would be much better. Thank you very much for any feedback you can give me I want to buy a great guitar right off the bat And buying a top-of-the-line Eastman is a lot more affordable than the top-of-the-line Gibson. Lol thanks again for the great demo love the sound on this I hope this is the right guitar because truly it sounds great and I really don’t care how much it costs. Eastman are so fantastic thank you I’m just not trying to get another semi hollow guitar They give a great sound but I want that 1920s twang you might say
Hello! That is a really awesome and impressive goal to get your masters! For starters this model is not a semi hollow, it is a full archtop. For the acoustic tone, this model can absolutely be played without a pickup, in this video we showed a mix of the pickup and the natural tone, but were mainly highlighting the pickup. At the moment we don't have this archtop in stock but we do have some other Eastman archtops you can browse here: www.theacousticshoppe.com/shop/Instruments/Guitars/Archtop-Guitars.htm We also totally agree with your stateemtn that if you're not trying to break the bank, a top-of-the-line Eastman is very comparable to other brands. If you like, we can also you tone samples of any of the models we currently have in stock, just email us at info@theacousticshoppe.com or call at 417-720-1223 Hope this helps!
Wes Montgomery was 1960s not 1920s. On his recordings you primarily hear the pickup, not the a acoustic tone. The AR805CE would be fine for playing in his style. The AR810CE would be a bit closer to the spec of his Gibson L5CES (17” lower bout), but the AR805CE’s 16” lower bout might be more comfortable. Both are fine guitars. But the carved wood makes them rather delicate. If you really are after a 1920’s acoustic tone, that would be a much different instrument.
I have the 805 with the Kent Armstrong floater. Would I be able to replace it with that Lollar ? I could keep the volume and tone controls on the pickguard. Love the tone you’re getting. Thanks
Eastmans are generally excellent. I have a 185 that is really special. Plays great and sounds absolutely amazing. I think the current Eastmans are going to be sought after in fifty years (I'll be gone). I love them now.
Hi from Welland Ontario just buy Alden jazz cat eye at pawn shop in town for 50 dollar just put new old tail piece play great watch your guys show help to buy just like say thank you take care
Great playing but me I’m a flat wound fan. I absolutely hate the squeaking of the strings, and flats make the guitar sound warmer. But please I really do love your playing squeaks and all. Regards!
first of all the guy with the beard talks too damn much we just want to hear the guitar OK but I had to scroll through like 3/4 of the video to hear the guitar then I'm listening to it I'm looking at it there's two mics on it and I assume also the pick up is going to out of the jack and into an amp so that's not really an honest sound of that guitar nobody is gonna be playing that in their living room or on a jazz venue with two condenser Mike's pointed at it unless they're doing Recording it's kind of misleading so I wish the video would've been done without thoseacoustic mics
What an absolute mess of a video review. Rambling and babbling for FAR too long followed by some really shoddy playing. Just because it's an archtop doesn't mean you have to play sloppy messy chords in such a shoddy mannerl.

Great playing on two awesome guitars.
Sounds great on its own.Fine looking build

Hey Tex! Here are those specs...
Neck Profile: Traditional Even C
Scale Length: 25"
Nut: Bone 1 3/4"
@@AcousticShoppe it'd work. What amp/PA Would you recommend for a small group, 6 to 40 in a living room (16 x 35)?

Skip to 3:20 to hear anything about the guitar. You’re welcome.

A Lollar Johnny Smith should work as a replacement!
@@AcousticShoppe thanks, looks like some surgery but not too bad.
@@jbteecha785 The tone will be awesome, after I relayed this comment to John he said "Why don't I do that in mine?" 😂

I own an AR804 (oval hole) and an AR810 (f-hole), and they are stellar instruments. I'd put my 810 up against any Gibson L-5.
Nice!
12 minutes of talking before 2 minutes of actual sound? I don’t get it.
TH-cam has this cool feature called “scrubbing”. Use it.
Amen.
yer late. the word is out on Eastman guitars. I own three.
An impressive musician, but it's hard to understand why he prefers those squeaky round-wound strings for the style he plays.
10 minutes non-stop fast talking until hearing the guitar. is it kinda subliminal conditioning by paralysing ears?
2 mn of sounds for 14 mn of video ! : play, don't speak !

More of Matt, please.
We should have him on more!
