zackery just a tissue I wove between the strings. It stops them from vibrating between the tailpiece and bridge, which is near where I had the acoustic mic pointed.
hey great sounding guitar. do you take any special care of the guitar like keeping it in a humidity controlled room? i really want a solid guitar but i'm very afraid it will just implode one day or something... i live in a 80-95% humidity region
I think as long as the guitar adjusts slowly, it’ll be fine. My house is humidity controlled but when I’ve taken it outside and on gigs it has held up. I don’t think it’s as fragile as a lot of people think they are. If anything, I think super dry environments would be more damaging.
@@AlexPriceMusician Do you think they sacrifice something if you're doing a strum or are flat picking? I have flats on mine (I think they're chromes) - no complaints with fingers or amped, but some drop 2 and 4s maj7s up the neck could sound more alive than they do if I am playing more flatpick style (again with fingers) at my job
Thanks for the compliments! I think it could be technique honestly. I was playing with a flat pick for a while. I took a lesson with a great jazz teacher a few years ago and the first thing he told me was to angle my pick against the strings. Best $45 I've ever spent.
Such a great playing.. I don’t if you have rolled the volume max or not but the pickup volume is relatively low i think.. i have the exact same pickup and i feel that the volume could be higher. Or did u do that on purpose? Where did u get the backing track? That’s a nice backing track!
Thanks! The balance between acoustic and amplified was on purpose here. I enjoy the acoustic tone of the instrument much more. The sound coming from the pickup moreso acts as a bit of "support" (bass frequencies/sustain) for the core of my sound. When I gig with this guitar it's usually in very small settings where the audience is hearing it this way too. For the backing track, search: "Lady Bird Chord Progression" on the channel Backingtracks JAZZ Best, Alex
Alex Price i got it. Thanks for replying me nicely. I have one more question.. may I? Since there’s no comparison video about it from you yet.. what the best roundwound from D’addario (in my country, the TI doesn’t exist and it’d be too expensive if I order online from other country) for jazz, or at least for you? There are EXL, NYX , etc. there are so many options. I’ve been using flats ecg24 until now and i want to try roundwound. Thank you in advance. I would much appreciate the answer!
@@nadtorus I've been using the XL Nickel roundwounds for 8 years or so in the 11 gauge. Also consider the NYXL model. They're a little bit more expensive than the normal XLs
@@AlexPriceMusician Thanks for answering, Alex. I finally bought Elixir Nanoweb .011 roundwound because they have longer lifetime. Keep up the good work. You're kind person and such a great guitarist.
@@AlexPriceMusician yes, I am wondering if that can be fixed by bumping up to 13 gauge strings. Maybe half wound someone recommended? I’m debating buying this guitar but have never played it. Let me know if you bought & have found any solutions. I guess you get what you pay for. If you want. An old Gibson you have to buy an old Gibson
The moral of the story is - get the best guitar you can afford. Life is too short to not be inspired to be the best you can be and play “starter” guitars 👍
Jay DeLuca Hi Jay - I’ve been happy with the Eastman. Like any archtop, it puts out what you put into it so I have a lot of practicing to do still. It has a very nice sound though.
Install LR Baggs Lyric (it's a mic pickup) to this guitar or the Ibanez, and make a video about it. If you say YES, I'll subscribe to your channel. : -)
I've toyed with the idea of adding mic to this guitar before but it's just a whole lot of work to be honest and I don't want to affect the way the top resonates in a negative manner.
@@AlexPriceMusician Cool. I just thought it would be nice if you could utilize the acoustic more since it's a solid top. Also, the Lyric from what I heard can anticipate a feedback compared to putting a mic directly into the hole. BTW, nice playing.
Hafiz Osman Thanks a lot man. My worry with the Lyric is that it attaches to the top of the instrument and will dampen the natural resonance. I never play this instrument with a drummer and when I do gig it out, it’s always in very small settings. The audience is able to hear the acoustic tone naturally.
@@AlexPriceMusician May sounds strange, but I sometimes like these grainy buzzing strings haha. Like a harsh tone Coltrane produced on his sax. Crazy good playing by the way !
Nicely played! The Eastman is a very inspiring guitar to play.
Thanks Brian! I agree
I agree. You made the Ibanez sound good. You made the Eastman sound amazing.
Thanks so much for the compliments Giovanni
Wow. Great rendition of Lady Bird Well played. Very nice instrument.
Great playing! And nice camera work as well
Onion Pierogi thanks so much!
The tone in the first ten seconds really grabbed me but visually, the cool colors and different camera angles were very well done
Great performance all together
Thanks so much Craig :)
VERY nice jazz playing! You make music. (I have an Eastman AR810-CE too.)
Thank you!!
awesome playing! sweet tone 👌
Brilliant playing !
You play so well!
Thank you! I appreciate it
awesome
Why the paper around the strings ?
It keeps the strings from ringing over there. Useful in recording but you wouldn’t notice it in a live situation.
Hi Alex is that bridge not moving at all? have you stick it with glue?
It's a floating bridge, but with the tension from the strings at pitch it doesn't move
What is the pickupbon this guitar? I also have a 810, but the pickup seems different !
It’s a Kent Armstrong floating 12-pole PAF. Great pickup, requires a bit of work to install it
Thank you sonmuch for replying. Sounds really great

What's the white cloth or whatever behind the bridge for?

How come you changed to flats on the ar810?
I just wanted a change and actually I like them better than the rounds or half rounds I had before

Alex, you are a fine player and good reviews. Guitar sounds too pinging for jazz. I doubt it's techniques.

The advice of a good teacher haha. Thanks Justin. You can never have too much Pat Martino, Joe Pass, & Jim Hall

Round strings?
Half rounds in this video I believe. They’re made by D’Addario
@@AlexPriceMusician thank you
Another Eastman that has a Barney Kessel pickup sound (which I like) the high E is too light guage, twangy.
Neal Mycin I agree I need a thicker e strings. B too probably. I’m only using a standard 12 set right now
