    I have a 2006 AR810CE. In those early days the AR810CE and AR910CE differed only in cosmetics. Eastman later changed the AR810CE to set pickups, which undoubtedly altered both the acoustic and plugged-in sound. That change doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. Why go to all the trouble to carve the back and sides if you are then going to compromise the acoustic voice by cutting a hole in the top and mounting a heavy pickup there? So I’m glad to have the older model. It’s got a beautiful acoustic voice. I’ve considered changing the pickup and electronics, but it’s not been a priority because I use this one at low volumes where just a bit of the pickup is dialed in to warm up the mostly acoustic sound.

    That guitar is right up there with any. In every aspect.

    Excellent value. They sound great. And they are an answer to the overcollectability of Gibsons and the unattainability of Benedettos and the like. Myself I rescued 2 mid 90s Epiphone Emperor Regents. One I restored and one I customed due to the original pup being DESTROYED. They have a solid top spruce and maple back n sides [laminated]. A poor man's L5.

    Wow, the guitar looks/sounds very pretty. But The prettiest part was those riffs you were playing. I very much enjoyed that. 👌

    Can you do another video on the Eastman 910? Has it gotten better with playing? Any structural issues? What do you think of it now after 3 years have gone by and thanks.

    I would love to find an Eastman that has the 1940s or 50s D'Angelico sound. Beauty of a guitar btw.

    2 questions 1. 3 1/2 years later what is the tone like now? Has it improved? 2. What Amp were you using? Thank You, Brad

      I still love it! I wouldn't say the sound has changed at all.. it always sounded great to me. The amp was a 5e3 with a negative feedback mod, and I had it turned way way down.

      I am thinking about looking for one is why I ask. My favorite tones are the late 30s early 40s ES 125 or 150 with the CC or that tone D'Angelico got in the 1950s. with Dearmond maybe. Trying to duplicate something like that without breaking the bank. Thanks@@BirdsnakeBrown

    Thanks for posting. Quite informative. Any wolf notes or dead notes on the neck? As far as the volume and tone controls not being very responsive across the range of the control, I’d be interested as to whether that’s a function of those controls aging (this does happen) or whether this is a common issue with these guitars. You might want to contact Eastman directly, just to inquire about it. In any event, replacing those controls should be easy to do if needed.

    Sounds great. What strings do you have on the guitar?

    • @BirdsnakeBrown

      I still love this guitar! I am 95% sure they were Thomastik JS113's amzn.to/3iy7Iju although I wen't through a short phase with the JS112 set. I found the 13s add just a bit of punch to the sound that I like.

      @@BirdsnakeBrown Thank you. I love Thomastik strings. And I love that guitar! I have
      an Eastman 805 and I think this guitar will be my next purchase. Just subscribed to your channel. :)

    That's how potentiometers work...do you think that a classic potentiometer like those mounted on a soundboard you turn them at 2 and 3 and 4 and you have low volume? You got zero volume! You always get some sound starting on the second half of the pot around 5/6

    • @BirdsnakeBrown
      @BirdsnakeBrown  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not the only one... other people on the jazz guitar sites have swapped them out for better thumbwheels. These are nothing like the stock pots I've had in any other guitar. I have used linear as well as 10%, 15%, and 30% logarithmic pots in my guitars at one time or another and these feel like they must be linear taper which is the least common in guitars and have the most abrupt sweep. I still haven't swapped them... at this point, I'm kind of used to how abrupt the sweep is, but you have to be very gentle... I wouldn't describe them as user friendly.

    Do you prefer this one or the 403ce?

    • @BirdsnakeBrown
      @BirdsnakeBrown  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have the 503 and the 910, and I like each of them for different things... they each have a voice that I love.
      The 503 is a little bit less prone to feedback, so it's perfect if you are playing with a drummer that hits a bit hard. The 910 will start to feedback at anything above moderate drummer levels. I generally play the 910 for solo and duo gigs, dinner volume gigs, and gigs where the drummer plays brushes or just a cajon.
      The floating pickup in the 910 has a bit more of an acoustic sound, while the humbucker in the 503 sounds more like what you expect from an electric guitar.
      In an unplugged setting, I think the 910 is louder and punchier. The 503 is a bit darker and quieter unplugged, although sometimes I enjoy that when I'm just playing by myself for fun.
      Honestly, I thought I would probably sell the 503 after I bought the 910, but it's really perfect for certain things so I've held on to it.
