14 Greatest NBA Careers WASTED on Bad Teams

  • Not every NBA Superstar is lucky enough to win an NBA title, and there's even some that aren't lucky enough to even win games or make the playoffs. When that happens it definitely makes a case for huge wastes of NBA careers!

    Bruh how can you sit here and say that Russ spent some of his best years "on a bad team" when he has played with at least 1 superstar for the past 5 years and when Westbrook's limitations were one of the reasons why those Thunder teams were so bad. Yes, in his MVP season, the talent around him was lackluster but that was 1 season. In his final 2 years on the Thunder, he had Paul George on his roster, with one of those years being a season where PG was an MVP candidate. It's just not comparable to any of the other scenarios you mentioned, and even some that you didn't mention like LeBron's first stint in Cleveland.

    • @someshnarayan7368
      @someshnarayan7368 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You clearly didn't watch okc in the playoffs with pg then. There was a reason he was pandemic p. He had 2 points in the elimnation game against utah while russ was dueling with Spidey and they lost by a single possession. He was horrible for okc in the playoffs pg is not a good playoff player

    • @therealest297
      @therealest297 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agree with somesh with the pg comment, he kinda of underperformed whenever it came to the playoffs. But I think Austin is also trying to paint these guys in a positive light. But people who actually watch basketball knows how it was and how some of these guys still are.

    • @nevenpatrk9661
      @nevenpatrk9661 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@therealest297 No I completely understand that and don't worry, Paul George deserves a fair amount of the blame for that OKC collapse. It's just that in comparison to some of the other examples, I don't see how they are the same. Most of these examples were of player's primes being wasted through factors that were mostly out of their control like injuries and poor team building by the front office. Westbrook on the other had, has only had 1 season where he wasn't playing with at least 1 player that was considered an all star or all star caliber player and most of the years that he was "wasted" came down to poor performances from either the superstars around Westbrook or by Westbrook himself.

      @@TheIcemanthomas he wasn't my man. This is just a narrative now that it's fashionable to bash Russ. I watched his playoff performances from okc to Washington last year. he is a playoff performer he might not have always won but he played great in the playoffs. He dropped 45 and sparked a 25 point comeback to force a game 6 against Utah and damn near dropped 40 again while pg gave him 2 points and they lost by a single possession. Not to mention how there was a time when a discussion was ongoing whether he was better than curry or not he was that good. He has fallen off for the last couple of years as his athleticism has declined but make no mistake he was a beast in his prime and a huge reason why the okc thunder were a force in the west for almost 7 years if Beverly hadn't injured him his career would have been different

    The 06-08 Denver Nuggets team was a legit mega-superteam and should have won a few titles but they just couldn’t compete with the teams. Carmelo Anthony, Allen Iverson, Nene, Marcus Camby, Kenyon Martin, Joe Smith, JR Smith, Chauncey Billups, Juwan Howard, Renaldo Balkman, and Chris “The Birdman” Andersen. Those teams had all-stars and MVP’s and yes a NBA champion which was Chris Andersen in 2013 with the Miami Heat. That team should be considered as one of the Top 10 teams ever assembled.

    Gotta calling 🧢 on Tracy. Yes the team was bad but it was only because Tim Duncan didn’t sign and Grant Hill was injured the entire time he didn’t just sign to Orlando for any reason. They were going to be the original big 3.
    S.N. Grant Hill definitely should of been on this list.

    Must of the player you mentioned played with good and great teams when in prime.. you need to know the difference between being in the peak of there prime and playing with bad teams so thier number get inflated ... Wade in his prime played with shaq and lebron, Kobe in his prime won title and team was built around him, Russ is his prime played with PG melo then harden then Beal ... You out of ur mind if those are bad teammates

    • @TheIcemanthomas
      @TheIcemanthomas 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wade didn’t play with shaq in his prime. He was still young when shaq came. Shaq was gone and most of the team retired or left by the time wade took off as an mvp caliber talent. Not to mention he spent several years dealing with knee injuries during that span after the 06 title.

    If McGrady did not left the Magic, he gonna teamed up with Howard and injuries will never ruined his career + he can reach the semis/ecf.
    I hope Garnett joins the Celtics earlier in his career like the early 2k's so he's not gonna wasted his talent due to his loyalty.
    I wish Beal and Lillard left their team while time is running out.
