I loved that in the first Thor, before he falls off the Bifrost, he says “I could have done it, Father. For you, for all of us" but for the wrong reasons and no understanding of what it means to be a god, and falls off the broken bridge into the abyss.
This time he says "I know what kind of god I need to be. For you. For all of us" and and instead willingly steps off a broken bridge...and keeps walking.
That was a deliberate choice. Theres an interview where tom explains that the director asked him to come up with a line to say at the end and tom after going for a jog remembered his journey as loki and came up with that line.
If I understand the ending correctly, Loki saved everyone presently living... everyone that has ever lived... and everyone that will ever live... in the multiverse, right?
If thats true, it has to be the most badass hero moment in the MCU.
Yeah he's a badass! Idk if everyone is saved, but he at least gave them all the chance to live in their timelines and gave them the chance to fight for their lives in a future kang war instead of pruning timelines to prevent it.
I like how Loki's story arc makes him as powerful, or maybe even more powerful than he always knew he was destined to be!
I personally don't think loki gained any kind of real power other than true control of time, to me its more like he sacrificed his life/free will to ensure everyone else keeps theirs.
@@dubvcronix6584not only time, but also all of the multiverse. That’s kinda OP imo
@@ikhsanstbdfax he’s extremely op.
MCU gotta let Loki and Thor have their moment. Thor showing Loki that he's a dad and Loki showing Thor he's a hero and a kind god is a must.
Dude replaced the loom and became the world tree, which was very fitting I thought being Norse and all. He finally won, too, THE Loki who won! This was such a moving ending I thought, a pretty well done show all in all. Just sad we're not gonna get more Loki and Mobius buddy cop shenanigans, thy were adorable together.
It depends which way you look at it - Loki’s fear was losing all his friends and everyone he loves, and that happens when he sacrifices himself to save them - yes he wins by saving the timelines, but he loses to his fear and has to spent the rest of his life alone :(
How is the TVA still operational if there is no loom? Isn't the loom was the main power source of the TVA?
Since Loki is connected to all of reality now it would be nice to see him astral project himself to Thor one more time to make good on his last words to his brother that the sun will shine on them again. He's not bound to preserving a sacred timeline anymore so he can interfere with the future MCU as much as he wants.
I don't know why everyone is thinking kang wanted loki to rule by his side. Kang wants out. The choice is kill kang and deal with the consequential chaos from the vacuum of time management OR take kangs place on the time management throne. Kang even implied he wants out as mercy for himself. The choice is eternal imprisonment and responsibility through power or chaos and losing everyone he holds dear. Lokis arc this season is accepting his fear of losing his friends and ending up alone. In taking the throne hes not doing it for power like he always wanted, hes doing it to prevent his friends from dying even though he will still lose and ends up alone (what makes a loki a loki is their destined to lose = ends up alone)
What I gathered from the story was that from one single timeline with branches that were pruned.Loki took the chaotic multiple branches & turned them into a stable multiverse that we know of as the current mcu movies & marvel comics. One clue was the 616 file at the end dropped on morbious's desk. All of the kang variants are on the loose though.
Morbius? You mean mobius
@@cdeleon3494looks like it’s Morbin time
@@samuelalvarez6814 He went full Morb, you never go full Morb!
A cape made of fucking timelines, awesome end to his journey!
I like the theory on Comics explained, that he's become the Obscure unknown "custodian of the Multiverse", he had a good basis in the books (book, character only appeared once)
I disagree with that. You don't spend an entire season constantly talking about stories, narratives, fiction etc for him to not become the God of Stories. That is blatantly ignoring all the evidence provided in show. I'll give that the two roles may have been combined as the MCU does that, but what would've been the point of all the science/fiction talk if we werent heading towards Loki God of Stories?
@@BobDurganIf Loki was really god of stories why wouldn’t he just erase all the Kangs?, why not make it Sylvie’s choice can still happen but won’t destroy everything?, why wouldn’t he just end all conflicts in the MCU?, etc.
@@ricniks4619that would just break time even more and make it harder for him simply because of how important kang is to all Timelines.
@@ricniks4619 because that is Kangs way. Lokis choices were to a) let everything be destroyed or b) write the story for the Sacred Timeline. Writing the story though isn't free will, and the opposite of what he wants. As the writer explained, "he's more of a librarian, protecting the stories."
All these Content Creator got it wrong with Loki becoming the God of Stories. It’s actually now confirmed from the MCU Assembled episode of Loki2, that one of the Directors said he became “Atlas at the End of Time” and has the burden on holding all the timelines together.
I just hope they do a similar thing with wanda. I hope they turn her into hecate, the mother of all witches. Cause it's already cannon that her magic has a similar radiation background as the big bang, so it would make sense that she would ve a universal being like loki and the God of stories. It would also make sense considering now we knowwhy the timestone is green, because of Lokis magic, so it would make sense that something like that would happen with the reality stone too. (Reality stone because of the red magic from wanda/scarlet witch)
They shud do similar for Hawkeye … and make him on par with Loki
@@koala322he holds the true power, that's why the power stone is purple
@@FoolGalo Yaa
JUST finished Loki thanks for putting this out! I loved the series and even the ending but this helped clarify all the Loki god stories discourse a lot folks referenced
Its so dope that Loki got a satisfying ending(what he wanted basically at that point) and He Who Remains won either way.
I guess Loki finally got what he wanted
1: I was actually shaving my face when I watched this.
2: I felt like Loki didn't age because he's a "God" and doesn't age like others. They explained that in the first Thor movie.
3: they showed the god of stories as well as Thor and Odin on the post when Loki went to get Victor Timely🤯
As a Co-parent, I work during the week and then have him all weekend , and its hard to keep up with Comics and comicbook news, thank you for doing what you do , it has helped me continue my comic book collection and got to know a bunch of stories that I didnt even know about and that are amazing, thank you !!!
Ngl Loki's time slipping ability reminds me of how in some of the cartoons loki kind of randomly appears, plays tricks on people and dissapears. Like in one of the spiderman cartoons when he turned Peter into a pig. I kinda feel like he had that power in those series
Finding out what HWR actually ment when he said "see you soon" when slyvie killed him was such a satisfying click.
Thor 5 is already confirmed so Hemsworth is still around. I absolutely agree though, I think Thor needs to see that his brother did become reformed and is alive.
Also gotta go with a Norse myth of Loki' s fate and how it relates to trees.
I loved the end of Loki season 2. It was so visually beautiful . Loki also becomes what he always wanted. But not the way he expected.
Even though it’s been done like three times already I really hope in Thor for it’s about him rekindling his relationship with his brother, so he can treat you see how far Loki has come since he fully would meet him self. I want to see Thor have a purpose that’s not superficial and I think now that he has love a great way to complete his family would be to find Loki and maybe somehow help him fold all of time together like atlas had to hold up the world.
11:37. He's not alone! The master of illusions can enlist help, or visit anyone he wants to with his copies! Outside of thor, tony, cap, no one cam know his new position. That could end up VERY bad/interesting for future movies o-O
I think if they do use loki in the future, it might be cameos akin to him as The Watcher.
I have been thinking that “is The Watcher from What If… a projection or form of Loki god of stories?”
Because if Loki is holding the multiverses together, then who’s The Watcher who is looking at the branches?
I feel like this wasn't the 616 universe based off Mobius's comment about there being a hiccup in another universe . Like a TVA within a TVA watching over different universes for just that scenario play out.
They have to do a little bit more than a cameo for this beloved Loki Variant. Loki is the best Disney+ show I think, probably a fan favorite b ut not sure.More than Redskull in infinity war that's for sure.
I’m still holding out some hope that Loki has some role in Secret Wars similar to the “Avenger Prime” plot line. Gathering avengers from across the multiverse for the final fight against Kang. I can imagine something like the final battle against Thanos, only the portals are opening up to the X-men universe, fantastic 4 universe, the various Spider-Man universes, etc. Variants of characters who died in 616 could be brought in, so Wanda, Black Widow, Vision, Iron Man, Cap, etc. could all be there. It’d be hard to top the hype of infinity war any other way.
Plus they could throw in a bunch of lesser known universes as deep cut Easter eggs for us nerds on TH-cam to obsess over.
He finally got the cheat code but was instantly perma banned.
Thank you for explaining😌💪🏻
What i would hope is that Loki could protect Thor to have Thor visit. While not necessarily in comics, there are tons of stories where once a year or once every x amount of time something can happen. In this case Loki could send Sylfie to find Thor. Thor is then able to warn the rest before walking off stage with the excuse of having to defend his brother.
Thank you. This is the best explanation I have seen.
I would love a little maybe end credit scene where Loki sends one of his projections down to chat with Thor and there is a bit of closure that a Loki exists and just watching over him.
LOKI really was burdened w glorious purpose😢
I was leaning to Loki being a god of time. The god of stories. Has a more fitting ring to it.
The kitty chilling at the back. Lol😂
I thought he became the MCU version of Atlez the custodian of the multiverse and took up the task of monitoring the various realities, keeping them maintained and preventing them tumbling into the Cosmic Abyss
Awesome explanation! I loved the series and (especially) how it panned out very slowly.
probably wont be a long video but i would love a power scaling video of all the loki's, thanks for posting after the finale released.
Loki finally becomes the king, it's lonely at the top but it's good to be king.
he could do cameos with loki remember one of his powers was projecting "ones self" he could in theory create avatars of himself any where in time or the multiverse
Very much appreciate it.
Doesn’t the loom fail safe keep the sacred timeline while destroying all others? Doesn’t that mean the stakes aren’t let HWR live or let everything die but instead let HWR live or let all the *other* timelines die? The first half or so of this vid seems to say the former.
The Evil Overlord: Subverted Trope. The ruler is called the "Tyrant" because, as with the original definition of the word, he didn't inherit his title.
Loki season 2 was freaking amazing in my opinion.
Why do you have a razor company sponsor during November 🤣🤣🤣🤣 love you Benny ❤
Great video, hope to see more like this!
Whether Loki is now the God of Stories, Atlez or the freakin World tree, all I know is that he is alone and needs a hug 😢
and as far as i can tell he "recreated" the "world tree/life tree" where the odin force resides and perhaps odin was able to "speak" with a version of loki while in "odin sleep"
on a subconscious level and took him a long time to realize that loki was right and started ragnorok to begin the cycle again because odin COULD have returned to asgard regained his strength and keep on going but in his last odin sleep loki ad able to convince him that it was time to start the cycle again but took a little bit of time for his subconscious to sort it out
thats why it seems like in his final discussion with the "boys" he looked as if he has given in to the realization that ragnorok MUST hapen
Thank Odin for Benny and Comicstorian
I don’t feel that he’s the god of stories, because let’s face it. That’s just plain broken.
If he was that then he can just will kang out of existence, and bing bang boom. Kang is defeated.
Custodian of the multiverse is more like it.
Being the god of stories means he know better than to just change it. He might have the power to change anything he wants but that takes away the free will he just gave everyone in the multiverse . so he may be god of stories with the power to do anything but the knowledge to know better.
@@greggougeon4422 he doesn't like Kang as much as Sylvie. Yeah he'd kill all Kangs if he had the chance
It's basically LOST, someone has to stay and press the button every time or something bad will happen
He's not the God of Stories. He was given thst power by someone else so it wouldn't make sense for him to just have that ability. He became the Custodian of the Multiverse.
Bro realized how to use strand omg
R.I.P
This does have me thinking
Loki season 2 finale means that Loki god of stories has some connection with The Watcher from “What If…”
Loki holding the branches together whilst The Watcher watches the branches
what is a "story", but a "lie" with PURPOSE.
loki gained his purpose, now he ACTUALLY has one, instead of just a sad backstory.
in the end, it will be loki, who "remains" telling stories to "the one above al" for all time.
thats my two cents anyway.
Pretty sad to see loki's story come to an end 😢
This is pedantic but it should be expressed as "multiple universes". The "multiverse" is that infinity of universes/timelines.
There should be a Loki variant with Kratos as his dad.
Also confused...Secret Wars came out in the early 80s? Is there another one somewhere?
Do you think he will replace molecule man position in secret wars (depending if the adapt the 2015 variant
I didn’t know we would get a surprise guest host this video! (Cat)
Loki The God of Stories, as assume the role of Atlez/Atleza the Custodian of the Marvel Multiverse, in the form of MCU's Yggdrasil the World Tree. Loki is the greatest character of the MCU( Earth 199999).
Umm, ironically Loki doesn't manage to fully breaks away from fate. He sort of re-enacts his final myth before Ragnarok. TLDR; Loki's final myth is that the gods find out that he killed Baldur indirectly, which then leads to a chase that ends with him being strapped to a seat by his children's entrail's (also there's a snake that pours acid on his face, pretty gruesome fate). I assume that's why Baldur was mentioned earlier in the season
i got all this info from OSP's video on the Poetic Edda
Hes the custodian
So...the loom existed before HWR's death, so there were timelines before he died? So his death caused more timelines?
That's so sad 😢 he can't even enjoy his friends
I know that people want Thor and Loki reunited but this Loki is not the same that die against Thanos and we don't know what happend to the Thor of this Loki Time Line.....
Dude from comics explained stated me be have become the custodian of the Multiverse!
So.... Loki became a Time Lord
This. I was wondering who else might have thought that. He even says, "It's not about where or when; it's about Who." Feels like a resume piece to become the next Doctor, lol.
Tom could still come back as loki whst if after his fake death to thanos (was confirmed by old man loki in season 1) that a loki variant which caused a timeline where he came back in the final fight against thanos in endgame
I'm interested to know why there was a pyramid on the void planet, is a kang there, what's the deal with ravonna, and will we get a series in the future of kang having the same story as loki being taken by the tva then turns out to be the ruler, so him and loki can take turns ruling time
I really appreciate this video because I was looking for an explanation of season two and everybody talks about the last 15 minutes, but I want to know what’s going on with the whole season. Season one was so ridiculously long drawn out it was like a soap opera just let me know, the clip Notes and I’m good to go
I feel he's, either, Loki Who Remains OR the God of Existence
Well, Marvel Comics Existence are essentially a bunch of stories, so he's is also the god of stories.
What I heard that was pretty cool was storyteller loki
I think Kang is still in control, this is just away so Loki won’t bother him again😌
Or "God of Free Will"
I mean that's the entire theme of season 2.
I like Lord of Time Loki.
Wanted to put my guess before watching. Loki has been being set up as the Prime Avenger to gather the multiverse Avengers to fight Kang.
So... I am still watching this review video, buuut.... Season 2 was a metaphor for Marvel/Disney cannonizing the "things we like" (the TVA/current MCU) with all the "branched time lines" (ALL of Marvel's movies, tv shows, etc etc, that came before). And Loki/Feige/The One Above All, is to Doctor Who it (Everything is Cannon, until it isn't, and then it is - everything is cannon and not, see TRD quotes). aka., reboot the MCU, pick and choose what you like to tell a story.
It’s the first Marvel movie series I really enjoyed. Loved it too! so what’s the difference between him and the Watcher?
My favorite Time Lords in order:
1. David Tennant
2. Tom Hiddleston
3. Matt Smith
Capaldi not being on this list is criminal
Reppin that SF6, let me find out Benny a part of the FGC.
So Kangs are stilling running around the multiverse!
Loki Bondsmith... He Who Binds... The One Above All haha... The Watcher lol
Imagine a Death Battle between Loki (End of Season 2) VS Shang Tsung (Titan)
@comicsexplained said he was Atlez
kill everything outside the sacred timeline NOT everything
The ending made me depressed 😔
How is the TVA still operational if there is no loom? Isn't the loom was the main power source of the TVA?
Happy Veterans Day brother.
Hell yea
I don't get how he suddenly has so much power that he can bring life to the multiverse, that makes no sense to me. Time slipping is a time based power
💛Loki💚Become 🤣 odin💛The Odin Force😎Like Father Like Son😎
Happy Veterans Day my long haired Medic 🫡😎 if only there was a bite lip emote 😂
Hello, I respect your channel very much, I wanted to ask is it possible for you to start covering Japanese anime Mangas as well? If possible? keep up the good, peace and blessings to you my friend
Make sense now why in the MCU the time stone is green rather what it is in the comics.
God of Stories huh? Anansi the Spider would like a word. Or two.
So if loki is god of stories. And it’s rumors floating around that iron man and black widow coming back. They HAVE to implement the fact that it was loki. or else it won’t make sense. Since god of stories loki is strong as fuck
Until Marvel says it, this is theory. There's no proof that Loki is the God of Stories. Otherwise, he would have re-written the stories in his favor!
Is hiddleston done with the mcu or something? …. I thought they might be setting him up to take dooms place in secret wars
What about the custodian of the Multiverse?
Nah thats lame. What about He who Binds.
Or The Watcher lol
Nahh I agree with the king of stories theory it’s set up close enough to the comic come on guys that’s God of stories he had to deny his destiny and become someone he’d knew he’d be
LOKI season 2 was some of the best MCU stuff ever made.
