Love these racing videos! I recently started playing wipeout omega collection and it’s fantastic, so I wanted to find a retrospective and found your video on the series. Now I’m here. Keep it up!
As a longtime, passionate fan of the fastest, most punishing racing series in the history of Nintendo, it always does my heart justice seeing F-Zero X take the pole position where it rightfully belongs. It was that game that fueled and influenced my love, and dedicated to not only the franchise, but also real motorsports in general like NASCAR, IndyCar and Formula One.
54:25 in top gear he talks about getting the hang of the steering. as a kid I accidentally found riding the outside of the corner actually faster, what was so satisfying was there is a section of the mountain course that is a high speed section for some reason the AI drives super slow through there. also RUSH 2 OMG the only way to play that game is the DEATH CIRCUIT and you and your friend try to wreck the competition driving high durability cars. which must have inspired BURNOUT takedown lol.
I have the game since i got the N64 back in 98 Grew up playing it and enjoying the handling I even bought the japanese version for the save in the cart feature and the new paintings on the cars (they fixed that replay glitch from the original american version) Lovely game !
The San Francisco Rush series and MRC hold a special place in my heart! I played em nonstop after I couldn't stomach more Mario Kart 64. MRC is how my dad and I bonded tuning the cars and figuring out which one was the best to finish the game and beat the two bosses (it was Kingroader, it was always the Kingroader). Great vid Squid!
I had no idea the N64 had this many racing games. I remember playing Cruisin' USA when I was like 4 years old and thinking it was so good. Rose tinted glasses in full effect.
The N64 had the best racing games because I could just pick a car and run, I tried later racing games in other consoles and it never felt as good as the N64. I had fun with so many, Beetle Adventure Racing, Mario Kart, Diddy Kong, the F1 from Codemasters (that I tried to run as realistic as possible), even Destruction Derby and Monster Truck Madness
Hot Wheels Turbo Racing is a bit of an enigma to me - while I mainly play the PSX version due to PSX2PSP eBoots on my Vita, I actually kinda prefer the N64 version. While the sound fidelity and content are greater on PlayStation, I much rather prefer the main menu UI and graphics on the N64 version. If you were stuck with either version, you still wouldn't go wrong or feel cheapened out because regardless of version, HWTR is a fantastic game.
I got Roadsters for PS1 as a present when it was new (I was just a kid at the time). My neighbors across the street gave it to me thinking they did something nice...turns out the game was complete dog water. I imagine the N64 version is just as bad, if not worse.
@@squiddythekid3976 I did. It's a very good game with insane speed and excellent soundtrack but it could not be compared on a technical level to the likes of Ridge Racer 64, F1 World Grand Prix and World Driver Championship !

Awesome video, you have the right opinions about those games
After watching the whole thing, the tier list at the end is GOLD

I hope you'll do one for PS1, Saturn and even Dreamcast
I actually planned on trying the PS1, but it'd have to be scaled waaaaay down
there's like over 150 racing games on PS1
@@squiddythekid3976 Maybe the Saturn and Dreamcast, since there aren't that many racers released for it.
I remember playing California Speed on arcade at a local pizza hut.
As a huge F-Zero fan, this list was very satisfying.
As another dedicated fan of the fastest, most punishing racing series in the history of Nintendo, I absolutely agree.
holy shit new peak dropped

Great vid Squid!
Nailed it with the #1 racing game. It's definitely F-Zero X. And it's not especially close.
Best N64 racer ever and I will always stand by that opinion.
World Driver Championship is the best N64 racing game!

I love Hot Wheels Turbo Racing is the first game i ever played on my PS1

it didn't leave the best impression on me
Petition to revise gamecube racing games
uh what
No 1080 Snowboarding?
snowboarding games are kinda their own thing
Mickeys Speedway USA is better than Mario Kart 64 🫡
Worst review ever. You didn't do justice to the best racers the N64 has to offer.
Did you even play F-Zero X?
