@@artoodiitoo Those Drag cars are pretty much useless in GT2… 😅 They were meant to be used in a Drag Racing mode but that mode got scrapped before the release.
I remember getting Gt2 for Christmas as a kid. I don't think I've ever played a game so much because I wanted to collect and drive all the weird and rare cars. The first game I 100%'d!
I have always played and still play GT2 PAL because it's what I grew up with and another version wouldn't be the same, and I'm glad to report that the Concept Car is correctly classed as FR in both its road-going and race variant, and I think it's only one of a number of fixes applied between the rushed NTSC release and PAL release. That's not to say that there aren't plenty of remaining mistakes, but they basically all concern only the vehicle descriptions and spec sheets, not actual vehicle properties or race mechanics.
I would argue that the Nismo GTR LM Race Car from Gran Turismo 1 should have been on this list. While it did technically return in GT2, it was a Racing Modification for the Nismo GTR LM Road Car and not its own seperate car model. Unfortuantely it didn't appear in the PS2 era games as a "Standard Car" unlike with its Road Car counterpart
i remember the time i saw the Opel Tigra Ice-Racer in real live TV racing event on eurosport Channel with Spikes on the tire on a iced oval course a night! (similar like SpecialStage Rally cross ..) I was freak out that it exists.
I won the GT All Stars Super Cup with an R390 road car so, if you cant in an espace f1, i guess skill issue? And no, I didn't put too much power on it, only 500HP, i think stage 2 or 3 turbo so its still managable to handle
Not all the road cars are made equal. The R390 and GT-One Road cars can more than compete (raw power and usable handling) though the race cars are still better due to being able to have downforce tuning which is a little broken in GT2 as well as proper race car physics. The RX7 GTC road car on the other hand (can't have race mods) despite having more power than the LM version is worse to drive than the LM. It's kind of crazy. I wish the 97 R390 road car wasn't just in GT2 because it technically doesn't exist since it was remodeled into the longer tail 98 version. Forza Motorsport 4 sort of carries the legacy of the 97 R390 (by accident mind you) since it's the 97 racing body with the 98 livery.
Dodge concept car probably is considered mid-engine as the engine is behind the center line of the front wheels. Mid engine doesn't automatically mean its behind the driver.
@@squiddythekid3976 the first Escudo Pikes Peak (the white one with smaller aero) had a twin engine setup, but the one in GT is the later version with a single V6
I know they're not rare, but I would love to have the r33 racecars back. The LM 22 and 23, the one from Kure and Zexel, the UNISIA JECS, plus others the likes of the one from Endless, Johnson Wax, Jomo, etc.
The ps2 game with the best and most obscure car list is tokyo xtreme racer zero. Alot of random jdm cars and the only game on ps2 to have an e36 bmw m3. 4 door skylines , station wagons and mini vans too.😂

Why would someone have ownership over the name of a entire species, I never got that. Seeing these illusive cars in a pixely format that leaves a lot to the imagination has a lot of allure, especially when even real images are grainy and sparse. And the day they appear in HD, it feels cathartic.

better run those oval races only xD

Crazy how the Escudo has less HP but was 10X the beast.

The drag cars have street tires, just like the TVR Speed 12.
Put race tires and they become much more manageable.
Wiegert died? That's actually sad :/ he surely made the automotive world richer. rest in car heaven Gerald
He did some cool cars over the years
I enjoyed watching these Gran Turismo 2 videos.
Please review the arcade mode for Gran Turismo 1.
Quality video from a small creator, im glad im not the only one who likes odd ball cars in GT games :)
One of the reasons why GT2 is one of the best GT titles!
So many cars never came back afterwards…
Even some tracks.

You are wrong about Escudo,it uses single V6 engine.
And i can also confirm that at least in PAL version Dodge Concept car is designated as FR car.
R33 drag can be made to be able to turn somewhat.
I honestly knew that the Renault Espace F1 was fun to drive in this game. As for the Cultus, it deserves to get back into the series. Great video.

how i can aquire a license from a defunct car manufacturer like Vector and Saab? (kinda forgot Saab was under another company)

No, they just mistakenly modeled it as mid engine in the NTSC release when it's properly labeled as front engine elsewhere.
