I like Bret and the undertaker aka mark calaway because they are honest. They are the old school. He misses his brother Owen so much you can see it. You are the best there is they best that was and the best that ever will be . :)
yes that is what I'm saying bret is one of the few people in the biz that stayed true to himself to the end, right wrong or indifferent, he never turned away from what he said, nor did he go crawling back to vince for a paycheck
Bret Hart took the wrestling thing seriously. He wasn't just an entertainer and a lackey. On the other hand, Vince is the boss and you do what the boss tells you to do unless your contract gives you enough power. After all Bret has said about WCW what he doesn't realize is that he made a major contribution to putting that company out of business. He was the virus that Vince injected into WCW after the screwjob. WCW didn't have a clue what to do with him. Vince knew that.
I just watched Landsberg's interviews w/ Hart, Jim Ross and Paul Heyman. Tonight was my first intro to the host, and although he has a quirk w/ jumping in on answers from guests, he does do an amazing job w/ asking some great questions. That, along with what seems to be a nice working knowledge on the history and dynamics of pro wrestling has me in favor of the host.
I'm a Bret Hart fan but I reckon hes gotta let this whole Montreal shit go its been over 11 years now.Its now become a classic and controversial moment in wrestling.
The arguments about who's better amuse me. It's like the arguments under music videos... Brett Hart was a great technical wrestler, but I thought his matches tended to be well executed bores. Ric Flair was a very limited wrestler, but he was able to work around that. There are two major parts of wrestling: the drama (built on writing and promos) and the action (in-ring performance). Both guys had strengths and flaws; who you prefer depends on what you value.
this was back in 2003 he has and it is now 2009 he has changed a lot since then he has said that he has let the screwjob go but he won't forgive the people who were behind it
here passiondiva05, bret hart is a true legend who was one of the boyys wen he was world champ, he didnt want seperate dressing rooms like ur beloved hbk!!! bret was as wrestling shuld be not this shit now when 3 mins "wrestling" is entertainment!!! i havent watched wrestling since montreal!! all i see now is mistakes, proper wrestlers making people look good
his eldest brother david died in a hotel room in japan in circumstances still unsure. then his brother mike commited suicide after he considered his wrestling career a failure. his brother kerry, who has a run in wwf, shot himself in the chest as he was about to be involved in charges of drug use. his youngest brother chris also committed suicide as his wrestling career never really took off at all. pretty tragic family.
@redscare74 - hi. just remember this is back in 2003, not now. if ya watched raw on the 4th January, he said that hell must have frozen over. he promised himself, that he wouldn't step into a WWE ring until hell froze over.
@Brodie73m he eased into it bro. he said the same thing after getting into the WWE Hall of Fame a couple of years ago. All he did was a Byte This! interview with Todd Grishem. Now he's conferable enough to do TV. You can't jump down someones throat because they change their mind. A lot worse can happen if you "stay the course" with no real reason to.
People who knew where the industry was going? Shawn Michaels stands in stark contrast to Bret and he was the herald for the attitude era along with Austin. It is incredibly ignorant of you to dismiss Michaels.
That's probably part of it, although usually they do title changes on Pay Per View. So probably a bit of both. I think Bret would have jobbed in Montreal to ANYBODY except for HBK. Either way I still think Bret should have just dropped it. BUT he did have "creative control" in his contract. Who knows, maybe it was all a work anyway? :)
It has to be real. If it wasn't it would have been out of the bag after owen hart's death. In the interview he still talks about it alongside Owen's death, it just wouldn't make sense for him to still lie about it.
flair also wrestled a hell of alot longer and flair did alot for the buisness. While flair was recruiting and training younger guys, bret was of being a drama queen and turning his back on the business.
Thats like saying if your in the computer business why does your family want to work for bill gates, because love him or hate him he has the most money
uhh bret was against the whole attitude era man. He was against DX and all the sex, swearing, immature humor, extreme violence, etc... he wanted wrestling to stay more family friendly. The whole attitude era was one of the reasons bret started feeling uncomfortable and thats where a lot of problems began.
Austin's Career didnt take off until HBK dropped the belt to him. are you really that simple? HBk had already had every title before he dropped the belt to austin at WM 14. HBK = First Ever Grand Slam Winner!
As much as I'm upset that he didn't get to finish his story, it's not the interviewer's fault, he's following a television time limit. Slam the format for being rigid.
Bret didn't want to say "hate" but what does hate REALLY, TRULY mean? Want to kill & Bret no longer wants to kill Vince. He still "hates" the action he did in 97 but not Vince McMahon
HBK didn't carry the Attitude Era. Bret and Shawn started it off. After the Screwjob, HBK was having back problems until WM 14 where he retired, and Austin took the role as the leading man. Bret would've fitted in the Attitude Era cause he along with DX started it off in the first place. But I disagree with you in Michaels being the one who carried the Attitude Era. He didn't get the whole spotlight after Bret left cause Austin was getting a big push.
wtf are you serious?? shawn is wrestling to this day and last i remember the only member left is hhh and i can't remember the last time he wrestled him!!!! whether shawn or bret is a better wrestler is really subjective to the style of wrestling a certain individual prefers but for you to say shawn only wrestled the kliq is downright wrong!!!! his career spans over 20 years for gods sake!
Holy shit...the interview was going pretty well but that ending was H A R S H. I can understand he had to cut but "...I couldn't shut you up" sounded like all kinds of douchebaggery.
I like Brett but he was being selfish and should have lost the belt to Shawn. Vince did the right thing as it helped him become the hottest heel of all time.
I don't know about you guys but I think this guy is very rude to Bret Hart. I don't have my own talk show but this guy is not on the same level as Bret.
More than anything, I'm waiting for the Bret Hart interviewer who has the balls to point out just how absurd Bret is for being so upset about Montreal. Everybody indulges his melodrama. For once I'd like to see somebody challenge him if only to hear his response so maybe I could understand...because I don't.
sure he hates shawn more than vince!! prior to the screwjob hart and vince had a father son relationship while shawn and bret hated each other!!! after all these years when the bidderness goes away he still is going to hate shawn more!!
No he isn't. Regardless, Vince has done some pretty shitty things to him and many, many other wrestlers. Of course the WWF has made people stars, but Vince has seriously fucked people throughout the history of the federation.
Yeah, I'm seeing a few of these interviews for the 1st time, and his guests are great but he's truely an awful rotten interviewer. I could do better myself and I'd be making it up as I go along.
I like Bret and the undertaker aka mark calaway because they are honest. They are the old school. He misses his brother Owen so much you can see it. You are the best there is they best that was and the best that ever will be . :)
bret hart is simply the best. I really wish he would make a comeback, the wrestling business needs him
YESS please come back WOW...how bout another class LAWLER-HART FUED with Hart bein da Heel and Lawler the Face..!!!
yes that is what I'm saying bret is one of the few people in the biz that stayed true to himself to the end, right wrong or indifferent, he never turned away from what he said, nor did he go crawling back to vince for a paycheck
I think Bret's best promos was when he was a heel in 97 bashing the states. He even said those were some fun days being the great Canadian patriot.
I never thought i would see bret back in a wwe ring again, slap that sharpshooter on vince at mania!.
Great interviews. Love this series. But, after watching all of these OTR shows, I must say, I do have a craving to try out a nice steak at The Keg.
i dont mind brett... hands down one of the greatest technical wrestlers, but i do tend to side with vince on the msj tbh
Teddy hart is a great guy and a great wrestler
I did not know Bret was friend with Kramer from Seinfeld. Coffee table book 😂
He's had plenty of breaks, HE just keeps f'ing it up for himself
nah HBK is the best there ever was and ever will be.
period.
there's no arguement.
Bret Hart took the wrestling thing seriously. He wasn't just an entertainer and a lackey. never say never bret!!!!
I'm a Bret Hart fan but I reckon hes gotta let this whole Montreal shit go its been over 11 years now.Its now become a classic and controversial moment in wrestling.

well said
Flair wrestled the same match with every wrestler every night.
Who knew, and even Bret Hart himself didn't.that he would return to in-ring combat, albeit on a much smaller scale?
really I never knew that. Well he should come back as a gm or something. That would shake up the wrestling business
here passiondiva05, bret hart is a true legend who was one of the boyys wen he was world champ, he didnt want seperate dressing rooms like ur beloved hbk!!! bret was as wrestling shuld be not this shit now when 3 mins "wrestling" is entertainment!!! i havent watched wrestling since montreal!! all i see now is mistakes, proper wrestlers making people look good
I go back and forth on that all the time. I'm still not convinced it was real. But I'm not convinced it WASN'T either
was one of your fav???, isnt he still......why not???
his eldest brother david died in a hotel room in japan in circumstances still unsure. then his brother mike commited suicide after he considered his wrestling career a failure. his brother kerry, who has a run in wwf, shot himself in the chest as he was about to be involved in charges of drug use. his youngest brother chris also committed suicide as his wrestling career never really took off at all. pretty tragic family.
@redscare74 - hi.
just remember this is back in 2003, not now. if ya watched raw on the 4th January, he said that hell must have frozen over. he promised himself, that he wouldn't step into a WWE ring until hell froze over.
cause he is a bret hart fan and this is a canadian television show
The man needs to shut up and let Bret speak his mind without interruption.
Now I see why the host was defending Bret hard when he had Ric Flair on the show and Flair was blasting Bret.
@Brodie73m he eased into it bro. he said the same thing after getting into the WWE Hall of Fame a couple of years ago. All he did was a Byte This! interview with Todd Grishem. People who knew where the industry was going? Shawn Michaels stands in stark contrast to Bret and he was the herald for the attitude era along with Austin. It is incredibly ignorant of you to dismiss Michaels.
And Bret would kick Triple H´s ass hands down.
I would've been good but we all need to realize that he does want to be in that world again.
He has moved on and there is no sense of him going back.

what channel was this on?
its great isnt it?
I recommend that U read Bret's autobiography, then U'll know Y he held a grudge against Shawn
i wish they would've let him finish the henning story, but they could've cut him short cause they knew bret was gettin emotional maybe..?
Maybe bret should be more concerned with The Keg Steakhoose and brrr
cut you up , shut you up? jees
Thats like saying if your in the computer business why does your family want to work for bill gates, because love him or hate him he has the most money
uhh bret was against the whole attitude era man. He was against DX and all the sex, swearing, immature humor, extreme violence, etc... he wanted wrestling to stay more family friendly. bret is realy based off ,,, and he will never
moving on
recently in 2009 actualy ,,, iread some interviw to him talking about scrowjop
@Brodie73m lol time heals old wounds sometimes man.
there are actual coffee table books not about coffee tables?
Bret would have never made it out of Calgary & Stampede wrestling without Vince... He needs to shut up already and stop killing his legacy
Not a chance - well . . . I guess one should never say that
Austin's Career didnt take off until HBK dropped the belt to him.
are you really that simple?
HBk had already had every title before he dropped the belt to austin at WM 14.
HBK = First Ever Grand Slam Winner!
keep in mind, this interview was 7 years ago...
WTF? Can Bret get a word in edgewise? Damn....!!!!!
Cut you up because I couldn't shut you up?!
@khichehade He's been married to several different women I would say he is not gay
landsberg is great! ofcourse he speaks for a majority, everyone know what happend... he is canadian, and he love bret. get over it!
@Aj6711 He's trying to keep the interview interesting. It's his job, you know.
Dude, that's wrong. Bret's contract was due to be up a week after the montreal screwjob, or two weeks.
ted got fired before he actually wrestled.
You've never met the guy have you? So what do you know about how he's like? Your basing his personality on Montreal.
wtf are you serious?? shawn is wrestling to this day and last i remember the only member left is hhh and i can't remember the last time he wrestled him!!!! whether shawn or bret is a better wrestler is really subjective to the style of wrestling a certain individual prefers but for you to say shawn only wrestled the kliq is downright wrong!!!! his career spans over 20 years for gods sake!
wow landsberg didn't interrupt bret!! probably cuz he's canadian
Holy shit...the interview was going pretty well but that ending was H A R S H. I can understand he had to cut but "...I couldn't shut you up" sounded like all kinds of douchebaggery.
nope he's second after steve austin
exacly! bret rejected a 20$ million dollar contract from wcw, cause he loved wwf to much
i wouldnt say hes bitter but to be fair can u say you could forgive something like that, and its not just that its things after the screw job as well
@Brodie73m Time is a great healer.
if u think u know him then read his book
get over it bret it was just business
I like Brett but he was being selfish and should have lost the belt to Shawn.
Vince did the right thing as it helped him become the hottest heel of all time.
adn what vince was doing a service lol?? he did it cause he knew bret would be big..
ted isn't. Teddy hart isn't in wwe
@Hikari97 lool why?
4:35 ......well i think kevin von erich has as but if not more unfortune in his life with wrestling, damn, he lost 4 brothers.
How was Shawn a better wrestler than Bret when he only wrestled against other members of the Kliq?
aka his girlfriends
I don't know about you guys but I think this guy is very rude to Bret Hart. I don't have my own talk show but this guy is not on the same level as Bret.
not is home town
he can't; he's afraid of getting another stroke
he hates hbk more than vince for some reason
ask stacy hart ok and i was friends with her but now its hurtful so im able to say this btw she slept with bret and owen had kids with other sister
nah he just dates Nattie Neidhart
HOW RUDE!!! That Landsbergs a fuckin James...
Henning died from drugs
More than anything, I'm waiting for the Bret Hart interviewer who has the balls to point out just how absurd Bret is for being so upset about Montreal. Everybody indulges his melodrama. For once I'd like to see somebody challenge him if only to hear his response so maybe I could understand...because I don't.
You bet your ass he could
karma ? isnt that a curry ? lol
sure he hates shawn more than vince!! prior to the screwjob hart and vince had a father son relationship while shawn and bret hated each other!!! after all these years when the bidderness goes away he still is going to hate shawn more!!
No he isn't. Regardless, Vince has done some pretty shitty things to him and many, many other wrestlers. Of course the WWF has made people stars, but Vince has seriously fucked people throughout the history of the federation.
tsn
he was wrong he went back an became us champ lol it was so lame 2
The host is so damn phony he's driving me nuts.
Yeah, I'm seeing a few of these interviews for the 1st time, and his guests are great but he's truely an awful rotten interviewer. I could do better myself and I'd be making it up as I go along.
bret is a dude
i dont mind brett... hands down one of the greatest technical wrestlers, but i do tend to side with vince on the msj tbh
