    Thanks for the info. I still have to wait years before mine are able to fruit but this was still very cool to watch.

      Yeah, after waiting a few years it is nice to actually have a fruiting Jaboticaba tree. Thanks for watching!

    You have a great yield on your Jaboticaba , Good Job on your attention to detail and taking care of your plants

      Thank you! I would have gotten zero fruits if I didn't net the tree. Dang birds eat them before they turn any color. I hope the yield will drastically improve as it ages.

    How often do you water the jabo in the pots, daily or every couple days?

  • @DivingTemptress
    @DivingTemptress 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    the birds probably watched you take the net down ... hope you put it back up already to save the future fruits!

      I think I only have the one tiny fruit left. I will let it flower again uncovered for the bees to enjoy and after that I will put the net back up.

    Cool Vid - Do you have a Grimal too? Anomalies are just being seen in Australia.
    I have a Coronata and still trying to compare / identify to others because of its
    quite long leaves that go to a point. Like a long tear drop

      I have a few Grimals that are about 4 years old but they are not flowering yet. I think mine need a few years more before they will fruit.

      Pollination: Do you think it's wind, bees, bugs, or you're hand pollinating? What would you guess your percentage is of flowers making it to fruit?

    • @GrowTropicalFruits
      @GrowTropicalFruits  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe it's a combination of them all. I did hand pollinate the flowers that became fruits. I figured I did it too late though since I did it when the flowers were fully open. My guess is about half of the flowers became fruits.

      I think we need a Jabo identification group on FB or something... I have a flowering tree (it dropped its only small fruit last spring) I am not sure what it is. I think it's a Red.

    How do you germinate the seeds? My 2016 seedling just flowered for the first time and I would like to have another.

    • @GrowTropicalFruits
      @GrowTropicalFruits  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will probably make a video on the subject if that helps. There is no single one answer to germinate them. There are many methods that work. You can simply enjoy the fruit and spit the seed out and plant it. That works, but it's not 100% and it tends to take a while before you know if it works. I like to clean the pulp from the seeds either by hand (if only a few seeds) using light pressure of my finger nail to scrap off the pulp and rinse off with water or if many seeds then using a mesh bag filled with the seeds and a generous amount of perlite. With the seeds in the mesh bag in perlite agitate and massage the bag for like 10 minutes while dunking the bag in a bucket of water to rinse the pulp away several times during that 10 minutes of massaging. The perlite is abrasive and helps scrub the pulp away from the seed without damaging the seeds. After the seeds have the pulp removed you can take extra steps like: cleaning with soap and water then soak for 30 minutes in 3% hydrogen peroxide then rinse and place in a bag of humid vermiculite. Keep bag of vermiculite and seeds somewhere warm like next to a computer tower or somewhere that stays 75F to 85F. After about a week or two the seeds should have roots starting to poke out from the seeds. Plant the sprouted seeds in peat/perlite based potting mix just beneath the soil level. Plant the seed no more than 1/4 inch deep to prevent the seed rotting or taking too long to sprout above ground. Hope that helps.

    I am so jealous... 😋 How can I get my tree to flower so much? Thanks for the video now I know it doesn't have that many flowers😔

    • @GrowTropicalFruits
      @GrowTropicalFruits  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I gave my tree a good feeding of coffee grinds, triple phosphate, chicken manure pellets, and liquid fish emulsion and plenty of rain water or filtered water. After that it started to flower and has gotten more flowers each round.

    How old do you estimate the tree was when it started fruiting?

    • @GrowTropicalFruits
      @GrowTropicalFruits  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I estimate it to be 5 years old when it first fruited. I had a red hybrid fruit in as little as 2.5 years old.
