  • Hey everyone! Todays video entails showing off my entire Jaboticaba collection!
    Some are well known, and some are on the rare side. Most of these originated from FFF my friend Adam Shafran, Bellamy Trees, & seeds I’ve planted myself.
    I’ve added the names of each jabo and fruiting times from seed, so hopefully that is helpful in identifying jaboticabas. If you have any questions on any of these please leave them down in the comments!
    Hope you enjoy my video and the educational content!

    Very nice collection. Adam is the Plinia Prince and that is a well deserved title. He has introduced and educated many people on these different species. Curious what kind of water are you using? City water? Also what is your favorite fertilizer and how often do you fertilize them? Thumbs up and subscribed.

      Adam is an awesome jabo breeder we wouldnt be this into Jabos if it wasnt for him, gave us a lot of knowledge on these. :) We do not ever water them with city water it raises the ph and has chemicals so we can only water with fresh rain water or collect it or with spring water. My favorite fertilizer is what we make by combining our organic worm castings with biochar that we make here and add azomite and rock dust along with our organic veggie scraps. But i also love to buy rock phosphate and azomite and vegan mix from the company “down to earth”. Thanks very much for subscribing and watching 👍

    Just found you, I've been following Adam for over a year and a half or so, found him through Pete K. I got a Restinga, Scarlet, & Grimal from Adam. About 3 years old each. I'm growing them in Ohio, so I have quite the different set of worries to deal with... Can't wait for them to fruit.

    I was very happy to see that you didn’t break up the root ball when transplanting like many people do. It damages the roots and there is no reason to do it. Roots find their way into the new soil just fine.

    • @mflbikes1870
      @mflbikes1870 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I always loosen roots and I find it helps the roots to expand into the new soil, if you leave them root bound then you will have issues, I do this with all my fruit trees

    • @patfromamboy
      @patfromamboy 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mflbikes1870 this is lacking science. Roots don’t expand, they grow. When placed in a larger pot or in new soil in the ground they have no problems growing into the new soil. It’s just human nature to want to disrupt roots that have grown into the shape of the pot that they been in. Broken roots allows fungus, bacteria and pests into the roots and it damages them so they can’t function as well as non damaged roots.

    New to growing Jabos! After being gifted a sabara and scarlet, I bought a red, white, and phithrantha from FFF.
    If it hasn’t rained, what else can I do to water them? I don’t have well water either.

      The most natural method I found and use is change the PH of your city water by adding a bit of vinegar (apple cider or white), set the bucket outside and let the chlorine off-gas for at least 24 hours. An aerator will off-gas the chlorine quicker. If your plant starts to look chlorotic then repot it with fresh peat.

    waht soil do you recommend to mix up? for Jabbos

    • @year1organics
      @year1organics  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Peat moss, or your own compost if it’s acidic. Jabos like between 5-5.5 ph. Coco coir is no good for them.

    What do you do with frosts?

    • @year1organics
      @year1organics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jabos can take down to 28 degrees for a few hours but for a major frost, I use frost cloths but most people will use overhead irrigation. I also keep mine in pots so that if weather is bad i can bring them inside my garage for best protection
