- Using a USB-C cable into the back of a PS5 it is possible to get lossless audio from a PS5 to a pair of full sized, open back headphones. This is far higher quality than the jack in the PS5 controller and grants volume control via the iFi Go Blu volume wheel
It has to do with USB implementation. Only UAC1 dacs work.
I know this is an older video, but regarding that B&W PX8 you got, I wanted to add that if you turn them on and THEN connect through the USB-C cable it should receive lossless audio as well, givind that in order for them to work they would need to be in active (USB-C) mode. They don’t work in passive (cause they don’t have a 3.5mm jack) analog mode. And the beauty is, because they’d use the built in circuitry, there would be no need for external gear (DAC of any kind), because the audio processing would happen on the headset itself! In theory, it should sound amazing! Can you verify if that’s true? I’d really appreciate a response from you! Thank you for your time!
On the wiring through the controller comparison - I've definitely noticed this as well! Plugging into the controller sounds noticeably compressed compared to any other audio output.
I'll be referring to this video on the future, thanks.
Just picked the dac up after watching this video! What’s your favorite mix setting? I’m on Bass/Space. Do you enable 3D audio in PS5 at all? Thanks!
Will the Audioquest colbolt do the same job as ifi go blu with the ps5?
I just use a soundblaster DAC and dt770 pro. Sounds perfect
can i connect this headset directly to the ps5 with the GO blu by iFi to the usb-c port to increase the quality and have lossless audio?
I connect my Focal headphones directly to the Go blu > Go blu to PS5 by USB and its lossless
@@engineeringart6345 and connecting the Audeze Maxwell via 3.5 and the GO blu by iFi works as well and gives you lossless sound?
Ifi go blu work wired with ps5?
yup
