Yes! Please get us updates on HW3! There are 80% of fleet with HW3! My model Y also on HW3. I hope tesla won't leave us stranded with non supervised fsd 🥶
My experience was very similar to yours. There was some phantom braking and attempting to proceed straight from a left-hand turn lane. It is now having difficulty with intersections that 12.3.6.1 handled without issues. Other intersections have improved.
Thanks man! 12.5.4 has been a big step backward for me on HW3. It stops way in front of stop signs and then does not creep forward to check for cross traffic. It just accelerates into the intersection. Very dangerous!
I have had several phantom braking events. always on just Autopilot on the highway. Trying out the 1 month free trial (2nd one this year) and breaking to a stop is always too aggressive and take off is too aggressive! Not the way I drive! You would think it would learn from your driving habits and incorporate those in FSD.
Fortunate that no one was behind you. Disappointed to hear that very little has improved since the last V. With all the route confusion and phantom breaking I find myself watching rearward almost as much as through the windshield. It really sucks driving in town.
This version is horrible for me like the previous versions. A lot of phantom breaking, wrong lane choices, slowing down for green lights, hard breaks for yellow light and etc. Today it was almost killing me because it didn't yield to a truck. I don't see any light at the end of the tunnel with HW3 anymore. They seriously need to work on upgrading them but I don't think they will. Thanks for the video
It seems to me to be increasingly possible that neural networks take FSD up to a high standard but it can't get it beyond a certain level. It is like whack a mole - in trying to correct obvious shortcoming new driving information sets are fed in but they cause other problems because specific problems can't be isolated. If this is the case, Tesla will have severe problems going forward from where it has got to. What other explanation is there for not being able to sort out the speed limit issues - this is so fundamental.
From what I understand from other vloggers and Tesla tweets, those "Max Speed" settings are just the most the FSD will choose to go. So it still decides what speed to go (Auto Speed), but it just won't go above what you set it to. Regardless, it makes it very aggravating to use in City and on back roads.. Not the safest to be going 47 in a 55 with traffic piling up behind the car. I really hope they address that soon. 2018 M3P with 123k miles here 😬
@@iowatesla i HEARD (have not tested) that enabling the Auto Speed settings fixes a lot of random bugs (tesla motor fourms). I am still on 12.3.6, hoping to get the update in the next few days.
Those round about gauntlets in Marion are a NIGHTMARE. I usually mess them up and can't stay on 7th ave. Getting my Non-foundation soon, I think I am going to wait a while to try the FSD, I want to know how to handle the thing first.
Visualizations are definitely smoother but this release has many regressions. I just posted a video of my first drive and it had an odd agressive lane change, lane confusion, last second lane change and sun blinding is still an issue. Not loving this version.
Curious how your car obtained this 12.5.4.2. is it updated from 12.5.4.1 (the version when Tesla announced free trial recently) or you get this version directly once enabled FSD. For me, once started FSD trial, the vehicle firmware is pinned to the particular version at the time of FSD trail activation (so 12.5.4.1), not picking up compatible (i.e. for HW3) updates anymore. The firmware will sync up to the latest firmware only few hours when the FSD trial expires. I know HW4 has its FSD version/firmware, I'm not talking about that. Anyway, My 12.5.4.1 experience is OK and better than 12.3.6.1 but still far from what I want to click the subscribe button.
I turned auto speed adjust because it lags so poorly in my 22 m3 LFP on HW3. I laugh because it complains for best experiences turn this feature on. I don't want to get run off the road and prefer the ability to to hit the scroll wheel to adjust speed in conjunction with the camera acknowledging speed limit signs. I'll continue to use FSD if they keep giving me free month trials but HW3 FSD isn't worth in IMO. I also drive a 24 MY LR with HW4, IMO much better experience.
@@iowatesla I just got it yesterday on my Ai4 M3. Wasn't able to do much with it yet since it was already evening time. I will try out today. Love your videos Jim!
12.5.4.1 was awful. So far 12.5.4.2 is no better, though it hasn’t driven into oncoming traffic yet. Small victory? I just select EAP and turn off every safety feature. This makes it almost as good as plain old AP with autosteer Beta. I'm not using FSD. HW3 is a forgotten promise at this point. An expected outcome from Tesla.
What is going on?? FSD is not useable!! My wife refuses to ride with FSD enabled … the “phantom breaking” is horrible!! She almost got whip lash we were driving 50mph and suddenly and violently out of know where it slammed on the breaks. This happens all the time. NOT SAFE!! I am seriously thinking about stopping my subscription!! FSD IS HORRIBLE!!

Thanks for this. Please keep showing progress on FSD under HW3. I’m hoping it becomes near perfect within the next couple of years. 😀

The phantom breaking is less but still happens in my experience... MyH3

I have a 2016 model S with the hw3 upgrade and the old pre 12.5 (I think it was 12.3) version was far better at 95% of the situations in my commutes.

Last night the speed issue was fixed if I set it up 1kph it would accelerate up to it.
Is it considered a phantom braking if the car comes to a screeching halt in green light during the middle of the day?
Agree graphic smoother yet steers more to the left lane allways how do I fix this!

Thanks for the video! Curious, what is your speed offset set to? Percentage? Or just the auto offset?
Auto speed offset was turned off. That said, I don't think it does much right now.

Sad...we always hope for improvements with updates...does not look promising for us HW3 folks

yeah .. Tesla needs to resolve this phantom breaking .. I do see this quite frequently .
You’re having a lot of the same issues I’ve encountered on my HW4 model Y. Let’s just say I’m fine with letting my 30 day trial of FSD expire.

I have hw4 and 12.5.4.2 is much worse than the 12.3 versions. Same phantom breaking and inability to make a turn that was no problem earlier.
Don't even have this on my 2024 MY yet
Probably soon.
I literally just got my update come thru last night. Hope you get yours soon. Just stay patient!
My understanding is that Hardware 3 and hardware 4 get different updates
Kum & go is getting renamed to maverik soon!

It seems like we're going to be screwed until hw3 can get v13 +
Don't think it will ever get V13 on HW3.
This release is not good. Hard slowing on green light s - yuk
Like #2. Darnit! 🤣
Wasn't great for me in many ways.
