His attitude towards his illness and facing death was so brave and inspiring. I am so thrilled that his great attitude and unbreakable spirit got the happy ending he deserves. Hope he has many more years of doing what he loves to do. Those doctors are exceptional!
only found dr feelgood 5 months ago (american) what a kick in the azz. should have been as big as any band then. After wilko left they were not the same. i know some think gipy was good. but the only song that was good was best in the world. milk and alcohol was lame, wilko might have saves that. thank god for the cds i got, just wish lee was still here.
I was invited backstage by him when I was 4 because he was so surprised with how obsessed I was with him, every night I got my guitar and mimed him on my TV, he was really nice (so was Norman) and from what I remember he stayed with me for around 1 and a half hours. I still luv his music and I’m 12, so....it’s proof he’s a guy who fame hasn’t changed, he is so nice
Wilko.. what a guy... his stage presence mesmerised me in the mid 70's when he played with Dr Feelgood, I just thought he was so cool, the way he moved across the stage like a manic crab.. and the crazy look on his face as he starred into the distance twitching his head left and right.. People have written about the birth of punk and the influences, like the New York CBGBs club and the Ramones, Television, Suicide etc.. but here in the UK we already had groundbreakers like Wilko Johnson.. and even if he likes it or not, I'm sure Wilko influenced many a UK start up punk band back in the mid/late 70's, and I'm sure even Ian Curtis was most likely a subscriber.
What a story, amazing humble enthralling guy. Just heard he died 10 days ago after an "extra" 8 yrs of life. Recommend documentary on him by Julien Temple, " The ecstacy of Wilko Johnson"
Never got into Dr Feelgood back in the day but have recently been taking a listen to their stuff & various Wilko interviews. I'm now hoping to go & see him at Holmfirth soon. This bloke is a legend.
like you i never cared much for them other than milk and alcohol but over the last year or so i have been listening to them and i can't get enough of them,
Little known fact: When the guy was wondering why Wilko wasn't dead yet, it was not in reference to his cancer, he was wondering how he wasn't murdered by pissed off Game of Thrones fans for killing Ned Stark!
Watching this a few months after Wilko's passing and I'm choking up. What an inspiring, honest, decent man.
Why hasn't this had at least 100 million views ?...........humble...realistic..honest...genuine...and so non kardasianish.
Question. How can you not love this man? RIP Wilko❤️
