I played football with Steve’s brother Joe, every Tuesday for years. Joe said “Steve’s not even the funniest one in our house!” Brilliant interview and such a talented and very funny man
At the top of his game for 30+ years. Tiernan is right, a full on comedy genius....there's no other word for it. My favourite stuff is his Partridge audiobooks, all done in character....it's the motherlode of Partridge greatness. On a side note what a great concept for a chat show...no prepared questions. Really seems to create a more natural conversation.
Just been scrambling around looking for tour tickets before realising this was filmed in 2023. Legend man, I love this guy so much. So much of his back story is so relatable for me, and his work is a core pillar of my sense of humour as an adult. He's a hero I'm not afraid to have, unlike some sportspeople or musicians for eg.
When I saw the ads for the first season of Partridge, I didn’t recognize Steve and I thought it was a real show so I didn’t watch it. Fortunately I realized eventually and I caught up
He is fully Irish as in ethnicity his mother is from Ireland and his father was born in Manchester but to irish parents even though being born somewhere means nothing but he was raised in England.. he spent all of his summers growing up in the west of Ireland It’s okay
@@MarieHarvey-q8s is everyone forgetting that Steve Coogan is in fact fully irish he was raised in the UK has English nationality and Irish nationality but spent all of his summers in mayo
Thoughts while watching: Tommy, darling, I love you, but those chairs just aren't good. Look at the position they force you both into. It was lovely to see Steve laugh so much, when he mentioned about walking the Appalachian trail. Brother Sun, Sister Moon is my favourite film, but no-one I've spoken with about it has ever even heard of it. Best wishes, Adam
Very sadly C R I N G A B L E - love Steve Cougan - watched his start up acts in the Tram Shed in Woolwhich (South East London) back in the late 1980's - but sadly this interviewer just doesn't know how to best interview people - it is a skill that needs to steer away from stroking someone's ego. A poorly crafted interview by someone who has not researched enough ("can't remember the name of the film") - who is lazy and too layed back an individual that is incapable of seeing the huge gaffs he is making because 'he' thinks he is right for this kind of gig. Lacks the right type of intelect and subtle nuanced manner to be doing this. Stopped watching after 9 minutes.
@@cl8962 So if you are saying that this is the format of this program - then it is a failed format that is not worth 1/ Making a program around, 2/ Too daft a format to watch, 3/ Bonkersly patronizing for anyone that wants to hear well honed meaningfully crafted indepth questions. 4/ Egocentric 'trip' for the overtly conceipted interviewer. - NOT FOR ME !

Tommy is a great interviewer, I can't imagine it's easy to get Steve to relax and talk. Fantastic!
I think it's also the lack of a live audience, they can have a quiet conversation
he looked pretty shite to me each kissing others arse
What a great interview of two greats of the industry 👍
I always rated Coogan. He's the best English comedian in terms of understanding Ireland.
I showed my Irish relatives his Martin Brennan character recently...they were loving it.
His mother's Irish and all his grandparents.
@@FiveSigma72 He did mention that the clothes had to be spot on for Martin Brennan, and they were. A particular type of sweater and blazer combo etc.

It’s like two lads in a pub having a chat brilliant
but without the humour ,it would have been welcome
It’s not
Holy Jahsus, how many shades of brown are there
As Steve casually does the two personas of Stan Laurel .. you realise just how brilliant he is.

Was just about to do the same!
To be fair his last tour was awful
Great interview. Love these guys.
There seems to be a real respect between them. Lovely to see 😊

Great conversation, very real and natural. Love it 😀
I'm itching just looking at that tweed suit.
Philomena was phenomenal
Coogan in Alan Partridge Mid Morning Matters is up there with the greatest comedy performance of all time. Almost perfection.
It was The Best Thing Ever.
The movie of that with Colm Meaney is unreal !
Great listen...cheers
A genius indeed. Don't miss Steve as Jimmy Saville. He was amazing.
I love Steve. Love him in as the Minnie roman with a thick English accent in night at the museum 😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Lovely interview!
Lovely stuff!
@@maxytwistnot your words..
Waiting for him to start singing the Wolfetones... 😊
Steve's outfit is very Irish. I think he loves Ireland. Great comedian and actor.

Outfit Very Irish !! TBH don’t see many in Ireland going around in that kinda suit presently. Maybe 1940’s/‘50’s
@@MarieHarvey-q8s He didn't say it was current. It IS Irish.

Strange comment
Could have listened to this for an hour or two, brilliant interview cut too short
Coogan seems like he's happier.
He got happy after the acclaim for Philomena, and started doing projects that displayed his extent of talent.
When was he not happy

How do you know
Excellent discussion (as usual I'm reluctant to call it an interview really).
Wow great guest !
I'm getting a lot of Saxondale coming through from Coogan in this interview.
Posted 19 hrs ago, I’m sure I watched this years ago
Roy Kean has really grown into himself since he stopped playing football.
He's turning into Jeremy Corbin !
Proof that sometimes performers are terrible communicators irl
Fan fuckingtastic
Mick mcCarthney
This was a long time ago, maybe from a year ago? Why play it now...
Tommy well on his way to a Santa job a Xmas
Why was Stan and Ollie not funnier ? Are there still some existing copyrights to them and their work ?
"Awful hot in here"
On paper, this particular interview looked a great idea, BUT it was just ... Vacuous, ego stroking. Definitely not one to re-watch.
😳

Tommy, you should've asked Steve if after playing Stan Laurel in a movie, he was ever tempted to 'rest on his laurels'? (cough)
Oh come on, that's Hardy original.
