Looks like there are quite a few people having issues, some similar and others different to mine. Great place to comment. Let's see if BMW can address some problems....
Had the same issue with a Brand new Golf GTD in 2017. Front right tyre keep reading as losing pressure. Then one day after around 2 months it just stopped losing pressure. Never found out what caused it.
Have ongoing pressure issues in R56 Cooper S, 1 tyre always looses 2 bar pressure more than other tyres. Could be the amount of potholes on my commute? As for your wing mirror issues same here th-cam.com/video/SrEYjl4N-Vo/w-d-xo.html at 0:25
Absolutely! Even now most of them out of warranty but if people connect together on with same issues something has to be done,as we paid for a prestige car.espesially in mine situation with this HK sound system is so annoying as there so many owners have that issue as some aplifiers build in mexico.when my friend got his car it was with germanish aplifier we put both cars on same settings and sound was so different as day and night, black and white.the mexican aplifier over heat and drops bass often for short or longer periods as well there is popping sound sometimes comming .But mainly I Heard is 340i build in march-september 2020 have this issue.I am happy with my car but my audi a6 2016 not even bose or HK and sounds 1000 times better.g20 sounds like many years ago computer speakers with mini bass 😐
I agree. The only exception is if that first year model has been proven to work. Aka buy used and do your research. Bought my first year civic si and never looked back bro
Канон Мебельная фабрика I still own an f10 I’m afraid to buy a g30. One thing about the g series is how long is the digital cluster gonna last but I love my f10
I'm from a Electronic manufacturing background and I would always advise that you stay away from new technology for 12 months until all the gremlins are ironed out.. Most manufacturers don't have the appropiate Quality control checks in place to address these reliability issues.
@@DownShiftThrottle fair comment. I believe the I drive system had similar issues when first launched. Its not acceptable but unfortunately all too common. Hope all is sorted soon for you.
Indeed. Talking from a trim engineering standpoint, it is good to wait a while for the engineers and designers to optimise the product. Visually, the changes are almost impossible to spot, but the underlying functionality/resistance of the product may be vastly improved even after a short while. Getting a facelifted version of the same vehicle is also a good idea, because the engineers will try to iron out bigger problems for that occasion.
On the 911UK Forum those who took first deliveries of Porsche 992 appear to have been plagued with electrical issues. Imagine what the costs of replacing these digital dashboards will be out of warranty. No speedometer is an MOT failure so you cannot just "live with it".
I don't like the grill opening/closing feature. Much rather they just stay open like traditional BMW's, that's just another thing that can go wrong in the future.
I am coming up to 26k on my 2019 330ix, and I have have not a single issue with this car. The build quality is as good as on my fathers 1970s and 1980s Merecedes E classes. My prior F30 was rock solid as well.
HE A NEGATIVE ONE THATS FOR SURE! I GOT A FEW PPL WHO HAVE G20'S INCLUDING MYSELF AND I CANT HIGH FIVE NONE OF HIS STORIES WITH THEM 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
I bought my in august 2019 ....first 3000 miles no issues ... after that I had problem with folding mirror on driver side and control panel ... bmw sorted for me ...replaced new mirror and recoded ... now 7000 miles no issues so far
My wing mirrors stopped working(folding in)and i could not work any buttons on driver's side door instrument as in windows etc.bmw technician said common fault there is a short in the wing mirror which wipes out all the controls, had the wing mirror replaced sorted.also said they had a few cars that the ebrake stopped working so be aware
I keep hearing issues like this. Having owned a Lexus for many years and then switched to BMW earlier this year, I'm hoping I don't experience issues like this. Lexus customer service puts BMW service to shame. Its true what they say, Lexus is number 1.
No problem. My car is an early model hence the teething issues. I honestly don't mind the problems as its proven quite useful to many of my viewers in my video. All is well.
FYI those suspension chocks you were talking about are to stop cars bouncing up and down when they're on car transporters as they might hit other cars or the transporter itself depending on where they're positioned on the lorry.
Dude I got to hand it to you you seem very patient putting up with all these issues only after 3,000 miles and so much of your time running around back and forth to the stealership. This is the reason why I said Bye Bye to BMW’s, they are just not worth the hassle, time and $$$ lost. The thieves even tried to scam you £500 pounds for a faulty switch panel??? Your joking mate! Tell your friends at the Stealership and BMW HO, this is why I have switched to Lexus and Toyota. Have not been happier since.
Nah mate it's no bother to me. I'm a fairly patient guy and I guess making the most of the warranty which is why it's there. The best thing is.....each issue is resolved first time. The £500 for the switch was dealt with totally wrong and the conversation was diffused very quickly. Toyota and Lexus are the best in the business for reliability!
Cheers for the video :) I got my G20 back in Sept and it’s now done about 2.5k miles. I experienced the folding mirror issue for the first time a few days ago. It did sort itself out after I opened and closed the car a few times. The day after the mirror issue the HUD also developed an issue where it wasn’t displaying the driver assistance info (current speed and speed limit indicator) that also sorted itself out after switching the car off, locking it, and then returning to it after a couple of hours later. Seems like there are a few gremlins in the electronics that BMW needs to address. The only other issue I’ve experienced (from day 1) is an annoying creaking sound that comes from the top of the cockpit/HUD area. Aside from those issues - it’s an amazing car, I really love it!
Glad to hear you found the vid helpful and you're able to relate. Yes most issues do go away and some will need to be updated via the OTA update or dealership. Modern cars eh.... Definitely still the best car out there in its class though!
Only issue we've had with our G20 320d xDrive 2019 was front brake discs being extremely loud if doing for example a 3-point turn and using the brakes (maximum steering lock only), they got replaced for free and the issue has gone away. Haven't had issues with operating system 7 or the virtual cockpit, or any other issues. 58000+ kilometers driven.
@@DownShiftThrottle yea we are using it as a taxi. For us the rear right tyre always wears the most, just maybe the cause being the roads being angled towards the ditches to displace water btw since i believe you mentioned for you it being the rear left tyre. We have been driving bmw:s since 2002 and this has always been the case. However we have not experienced a loss of tyre pressure ever, so my suggestion for you would be to increase tyre pressures, we use 2,8bar on all tyres with 225/50/R17 wheels, since yours are at least 18 or 19", i suggest trying at least 3bar of tyre pressure to reduce tyre wear and possibly eliminate this issue you were having. We use 2,9bar for summers, now we have nordic winter tyres, almost forgot to mention. And finally greetings from finland :)
hello i am thinking to buy g20 320d year 2021 with 80k of millage. I just wonder if you encountered any issues so far as you mentioned in comment that you are using it as taxi so for sure youre done a lot of millage. Thx on reply
@@781mm rear differential seal can start slowly leaking (in both cars, warranty covered) and check ball joints and suspension for wear. Otherwise we have had no issues in either of the cars. At least nothing i can remember. Brakepads wear quite fast in citydriving though. Especially in the rear. Solid cars both so far overall. Maintenance costs are not cheap though, premium car requires premium maintenance.
@@Manakuski thanks on the information provided. May I ask how high is regular maintenance on the car for yearly service. I own mercedes c and it costs me around 350e per year for oil change filter brake fluid etc. I just wonder how high are costs at bmw as i cant find it nowhere on forums….
Great video, and great assessment. As with all software, bugs can only be tested and fixed in controlled settings, so things will undoubtedly go wrong with electronics in the real world. Also, keep in mind that in order to keep cars actually affordable, the chips and boards they are usually using for these (and I assume the servo motors, as well) are typically an older technology that is quite cheap. Although $50k USD is a lot of money to spend on a car, you are basically buying a few Macs, plus a car, which sounds about right (Mac pro today starts at $6,000 USD base). These problems will always exist with cars, especially if they use new boards or chipsets in a model, no matter the brand or model. If one has fewer problems, it is likely an electronic set up that has existed for a number of years and so they have had time to work out the bugs. If a Samsung phone can light itself on fire, especially after all of the rigorous testing they do for that one product, then it's understandable a car's tertiary features will have some issues.
Thanks for your comment.....as a follow up watch my vid on this car when the software update failed.....classic example of updating a iPhone orca macbook that is hidden away in the car somewhere.....
Wow I own samsung s10 and it often gets hot .you very correct about tech.and as since 2019 there is issue with chips or how to call those computer items as one massive factory burned and there is problem to get elements from it.out mother nature is getting tired for human demans
I had the passenger side wing mirror issue (G20, bought June 2019). BMW told me it was corrosion (a few months old). It's been fine since it was replaced.
I always thought the nightmare started with German cars once the warranty was over especially with electronics but the gremlins you are talking about here started nearly from day one? The drive trains are normally well built but cars these days are so much more than just the drivetrain.
This is an early example and no doubt required software updates to sort out the gremlins. All ok now. Tyre valve is a common issue on most BMWs regardless of model and age. The rest of the issues I guess are new tech issues.
My bmw g20. Build March 2019. 25000km. Problems: - Mirror sensor (shut down the complete left door panel, and several functions ) - car settings were always lost - trunk doesn't open per foot anymore - head up display doesn't show navigation or radio scrolling (right side) - radio cover (front middle one) was vibrating like hell
Mine just overheated after 4,000 miles and I bought it last March. The pulley got loosened and broke the belt. I'm going to trade in this car on my first opportunity.
Do any of you happen to own a G20 320d and have experienced increased oil loss? My car is 1.5 years old and has done 25kkm. For some time now it has started displaying an oil level loss warning every 2 kkm or so. I top up a liter, drive another 2 kkm and have a liter less again. This doesn't look good, and I am afraid that the BMW service will consider this a normal symptom. I had this in my previous VW car, which could burn a liter of oil per 1000 km.
Thank You for sharing the experiences. I've owned a 99' E46 series for 8 years. Had a ton of electrical issues. BMW was rated poorly in the last JD Power reliability rankings. I'm currently considering a Toyota. BMW's are gorgeous, but the quality is poor, it seems.
Bite the bullet and get a Lexus. I had e46 and is300 at different times. BMW was slower, cost more, was less reliable but had slightly better interior, exterior and suspension but not that much better to justify the cost. The newest IS and GS are so much better, won't depreciate or need constant trips to the garage.
Main thing to note is that as long as the fix is done first time and it doesn't recur again. I've had no issues since back-end of 2019 now. Hopefully all good now!
Those electric mirrors - there are hundreds of posts on various forums and various TH-cam videos from owners from different countries all over the world. It's moisture getting into the housing and shorting the wiring / motor, as well as the control unit. In all cases (almost) BMW denies warranty claims. Horrendous. Mine is to arrive CW30, hope this was resolved already somehow.
My passenger side wing mirror developed loud noise when turning after only two weeks from new. Too much hassle to make a booking with BMW, I sprayed some SuperLube into gaps of the moving parts. After a couple times exercise the mirror has been good for two weeks now.
Very informative video. Just put in a deposit for an M340ix. Hopefully the slightly updated(sort of) 2021 model will get rid of some of the electrical glitches and errors.
@@gbbeatz2182 two years into ownership and counting. Had only a few electrical glitches but most of them sorted itself out without any hassle. Overall the car drives fantastic and does the job of being a component daily driver very well. One thing note pointing out tho is that the overall interior build quality is underwhelming. The amount of rattles that owners are experiencing is more than acceptable imo, I myself are having creaks and rattles from the sunroof, b pillar, rear parcel shelf, and the list goes on. If you are the kind of person that doesn’t really get bothered by these kind of things then this car is perfect.
Lucky i dont have any of the above issues however, ive got one major annoying issue that is the car doesnt recognise the key and it fails to start. Like you said the dealership updated the software and it didnt really fix the problem. Its is the single most annoying issue i faced since i was stuck in a parking lot for over an hour. If anyone has this issue make sure you grab your key and hold it up below the wiper switch and just press the start button. (There is a little marking of a key on the left hand side of the steering coloum)
At least you two could hold it up to the steering column. Mine did not even unlock with the key. I had to use the my bmw app to lock and unlock. The key would not start once inside. The ring antenna and both keys were replaced under warranty. Cold winter night and an emergency. Towed away by BMW assist. Luckily had a second car.
That G20 is a beaut. But I need a bigger car I'm waiting to upgrade my f11 but I hate the current 5 series look. I want the new 5 that takes design from the G20. Great video my man!
I had a G20 loan car 3 months after they came out. In sports mode and comfort mode. And over a speed bump, the passenger side would make a loud bang. At 15mph....
I had 2016 3-Series, Base model without all the gimmicks and had check engine within two weeks and they kept updating it with computer without actually fixing anything. Then my cluster and display wouldn’t turn on on a cold day. Turned out they were related and had some wires that were burnt from factory. First couple of years were nightmare since I would be going to dealership regularly. After that it was okay until 4th year. Then I swapped it with new Mercedes GLB. I do miss the driving experience of BMW though.
I have my g20 since september 24 2019, adaptive suspension, mpack etc. when the weather got little bit colder -2 left side (at my case drivers side) door electricity broke, couldnt open, close, lock windows, lightning of the buttons also went down, and the same with dead mirrors. Sadly it broke at christmas eve, and after 2 days not working it started working again, ofcourse i went to check at the dealership, and all they said they cant do anything because its working right now... Not feeling happy because i know it will happen again
I have had my G20 since September and had the exact same issue with mine. It also started working again after 2 days. However when I took the car to BMW they did find error code and they replaced my left wing mirror as they said the fault lay with that. This happened after about 6 weeks after getting the car. Other than this I absolutely love the car
Vytautas Lesnikauskas that happened to mine after 3 days of having it. Took almost 3 weeks to repair as mine didn’t sort itself out. Ended up replacing the wing mirror, the master switch for windows and mirrors, and the harness and back unit of the mirror. Not sure which one actually sorted it
Thanks to be honest.....I always found that I got the best of people and dealerships by just being calm. Each time the problems were fixed with quick turnarounds and they sorted me out with a nice courtesy car for which I didn't have to wait for weeks. I did lose it with Land Rover though on our Range Rover Evoque. Check that vid out lol
Interesting video. Being a fellow G20 owner, how have you found the in car ventilation. Despite being on full mine hardly throws out any air. Wondered if anyone else had similar experiences?
I had same issues, went in to the settings and you can change the circulation percentages of the fan and vents, it’s all there just got to go through air circulation settings, if you leave it on auto just step up the motor speed this resolved it for me.
@@adenbaksh4843 no p/ex’d it about 3 months ago. Faults included Faulty wing mirror glass and motor Loose screw in air unit Failed engine damper and snapped drive belt Failed rubber door seals around driver and rear passenger door But to put in context, it was a first make UK model. I would suspect these problems would’ve been ironed out by now.
I just put 2000 km to my g20 and have had no issues so far, best car I've ever owned. (so far) - I guess if you drive like crazy every car would have problems, you just have to take care of your BMW and it will run flawlessly.. Perhaps right hand drive cars are just shitty on the first place..
deel eem could be a hair line crack in wheel run flats are so hard there is no give if you hit pot hole I have a 330d it happed on mine only lost air depending where the crack was when parked something you can’t tell when had wheels refurbished it was spotted and fixed does not lose air now if not the valve might be a crack
As an old F30 user, I felt like you were being tortured by your money. I’ve had several problems with the F30 during our 7 year relationship. Starting with the corroded seats and ending with a malfunctioning door lock. I was looking forward to buying the g20 but it seems that nothing has changed on the Bmw side. I’m sorry for your bad experience but it seems that these won’t be your last service visits. The show may start after the warranty ends. I’ve been told to always buy the beta version of a new car which can match to the g20’s lci models. The lci version will probably be produced in 2023. If the virus outbreak ends early I hope we can make solid plans again. Stay safe and healthy all the world citizens...
See I had a 2017 F30 before this and other than a recall on the EGR it was faultless as was my 2015 5 series and My 2017 M140i. The key thing to note on the G20 is that none of these problems left me stranded on the side of the road and were more nuisance issues. All if which have been fixed under warranty first time around which for me is good enough. No other problems to report since this vid went up so hopefully all good now.
DownShift Throttle The key number in your answer is “2017”. This means that you had a face lifted F30. My car was a 2012. The golden rule is to buy the beta versions which are the face lifted ones. I had more than 5 very annoying issues since I bought the car. The build quality was quite low on the first manufactured F30s. I had corroded seats, cracked lighting and memory buttons, squeaking steering wheel, engine malfunctioning issues, faulty oil pump, malfunctioning back door lock...etc. I am a very gentle driver to my car. I never push my cars too much. The F30 was on 80.000 kilometers when I sold it last month. Even I used and drove it very carefully this is what I ended up with. I will be following your experience by the way. Safe rides...
@@repla2992 I had a new early-2015 F31 335d for 18 month lease and from day-1 the interior ventilation would always switch-on upon starting the car no matter how long i had the car switched-off for or what state i left the a/c-vent system in when i switched off the car - it was quite annoying having to switch it off most of the time. I did enquire but no joy and just thought it was a BMW thing so left it. When i got a late-2016 LCI F31 335d, no problems! I've seen a nice used Dec-2019 G21 320d xdrive on BMW AUC network but i wonder if i should risk it... the new LCI version out next year doesn't appeal so much due to iDrive 8 system and price. In fact would changing iDrive versions cause new issues rather than having a fully solid OS-7 system??
Great review mate, sorry I'm late to the party. I have the same issue with my front left tyre. Everytime i take it to BM they just fill it with air and send me home lol. really annoying. I'll tell them to check the valves - thanks for that. Also do you ever get any issues with reversing rear sensors not beeping?
Thanks for your comment. It's good to hear people discussing other issues with their cars. I've never had a problem with sensors at all. The reversing assistance and parking assistance always works fine too.
I've had a similar problem recently..... the PDC and Parking assistance stopped working and a failure message popped up. What was your problem and how did you fix it?
@@thekronology6592 Hi Ryu, so I have taken it to BM a few times now for diagnostics. They can't seem to find any issues with the sensors. There was a software update the other day apparently that solves it and it seems ok for now. Turns out the tyre had a very small nail inside that even the technicians couldnt find.
Interesting video Ive got a 320 M 2019 Best car I’ve ever had, the learning gearbox is a pain because I drive differently everyday so it can’t “learn “ my style Had to get a reset on it last week but small problems Seriously, try this - “Hey BMW.....eject the passenger....😂 I did it driving down the M62 with my missus in and we both wondered what was going to happen
Since you’ve owned several BMW’s I have a question for you... have you ever had issues with the turbos? Ans how long do you keep your BMW’s? Mileage wise... I really wanted to buy a BMW (used) but when I found out that to replace the turbo is about $5,000 to $6,000 then I decided not to.
Ok....so the turbos have never failed on any of my BMWs. I usually run the cars to about 40k miles before changing. All I'd say is don't skimp on servicing regular oil changes. Allow the car to warm up nicely before driving hard.
I had a bmw 420i 64 plate, then an M135i 16 plate for nearly 3 years. Then a bmw 435d with 380bhp for 18 months and the only problem I had was the motor for the jet wash went on the 1 series. Aside from that nearly 80k miles in 3 different cars and no problems. The 1 series was driven hard as well. Very hard. Maybe I've been lucky but they have been good cars. Il probably keep the 435d for a while. Then get the new 4 series in 2/3 years.
Turbos are no where near $6000 lol. Maybe $1000. You are probably better getting 3 year old over 30k miles with full service history. Cheap and probably not going to have any issues. If it was going to have issues it probably would have already had them.
BMW G20 320xdrive owner here, in the beginning I had the same mirror issue, then the driver control panel on door issue appeared as well. Now I can't close windows, mirrors, etc. One more issue I had is with the head-up display, it won't display the sport displays in sport mode, only when selected always on.
Interesting to hear about the tyre pressure issue. I’m experiencing a similar problem with my 118. I’m at the bloody garage every 2 /3 weeks 😤 Never had this with any other cars.
2 issues I'm having. First is map update for Nav map. Hasn't been updated since Quarter 4 2018! Isn't even enabled in ConnectedDrive even though its a booked service. Most annoying one is Spotify always logging me out. Just randomly logs out mid journey then wants repairing to my account. Frustrating 😤
Had my G20 330d xdrive since September 2019 and have covered 10k already, no issues but I would advise it has lots of flat spots and speed humps bumps draw a terrible flat spot when peaking and applying the power.........nothing........still nothing........traction light flash.......and off we go! Drives me insane, and no I’m not going to quick it’s just the set up of the Xdrive and gearbox, they tend not to communicate very well, let’s hope there is a software update for this!!!
I have this same thing in my m340i xdrive but only once or twice, I'm tuned so I noticed it even more, I went over a tall speed bump, put my foot down and it revved really slowly round to about 4k then seemed to wake up. When I got out of the car there was a smell that reminded me of a burnt clutch on a manual. Did you take yours back to bmw to have it investigated?
Suresh Sivarajah no I haven’t yet, waiting for my first service! The car itself is a great car don’t get me wrong and I’m sure this will be a software upgrade for the gearbox at some stage.
Thank you for the video quick question how’s your steering is it stiff heavy or soft in comfort and eco pro mode i just came from 67 and 2021 530e and felt a bug different 320i 2020 steering is heavier and some effort is required when please advise if this is normal tyre pressures all checked no alignment issue wither thanks
Mine is in with bmw just now it has a metalic sound coming from it under acceleration not hard acceleration around 1500rpm seems like it's coming from around the centre console a bit like a heat sheild nose when it has came loose. Been in for a few days now they have said they have cured it a bit but now its there when the car is idling and they have opened up a puma case with bmw so will see what they come back with ps mine is an x drive. Anyone else having this issue
@@DownShiftThrottle they have had it for 3 days and can't find the problem so i don't think it's the undertray . Will hopefully get to the bottom of it next week not so bad they gave me a courtesy car to run about in.
Someone is probably pulling a prank on you with the Tire pressure, especially since it is always the same side. I have never had so many problems with nails in my tires until I switched to BMW, I was jesting with the tire shop that it is almost as if my wheels had magnets in them. I would not put it past some people to deliberately leave debris under my car. Teslas have video taped people vandalizing the car just because it is a luxury car. Anyhow, my first gen 2017 540i had various Gremlins especially in the electronics and sensors. I couldn't even put a sheet of paper on the passenger seat without the car going into limp mode because the "passenger" didn't have their seat belt on. Ultimately, all the issues except for the BC button were repaired free of charge and I got to drive a loaner BMW for a while. FYI the BC button on the Turn signal stalk would only work if you were signaling left or right.
Every single part of a new car is under the full warranty, I have had this type of conning from my BMW dealership they are chancers but I do love the cars. Your is still stunning and always will look awesome.
I wonder how you feel these 19inch wheels on speed bumps and pot holes compared to standard 18. I believe an adaptive suspension helps but I really think 18" will give me more comfort with adaptive dumpers. Thus, 19" wheels look better. Can you comment on that?
To be honest these 19" wheels are fine with the adaptive suspension over the bumps. I believe adaptive suspension is part of the Msport Plus pack so if you had 18" wheels you will not get the adaptive suspension. I've had the car lowered and it's still fine.
I have a problem with the ground clearance; the 13.6 cm / 5.35 inches are not safe for some bumpy roads.Keep this in mind if you live in a place with bumpy roads.
Well this doesn't fill me with confidence for the arrival of mine in a couple of months. I had a fairly lengthy list of issues with my 16 plate A4 from new. Audi did fix them all and I also received compensation from the garage, they loaned me an almost equivalent vehicle and covered the fuel bills as it was petrol not diesel which they leant me. I really hope I don't have headaches with this as I'm about out of patience for car issues. Simple fact will be, if there's issues and they don't fix them quickly and I feel I'm owed compensation I'll stop the payments for the car. I just refuse to pay for a car which I'm not able to use. Wondering whether I should have just stuck with Audi and compromised on the engine.
I've not had any issues related to the mechanical workings of the car that have stopped me from doing a journey. On my previous F30 3 series 2017 model the EGR valve had an issue and it was replaced by a BMW Technician on my driveway therefore I cannot knock the service and turnaround. From all my cars that I've owned.....other than 3 Civics.....the BMW's are very reliable. These issues I would say are teething issues to some extent. My car is an April build and one of the first cars so I guess it had some glitches which gVe been fixed.
@@DownShiftThrottle That's a good point and, at the time my A4 was pretty much in the first run period. It's really helpful to have someone like yourself who doesn't waffle on and on. Says it like it is and how the problems were resolved. Nice and clear on all your videos. Fingers crossed for mine, I am looking forward to returning after the break from BMW.
Lol thanks Andy. I thought I was waffling on hahaha....if you want to know about real problems.....have a look at my Range Rover Evoque vid.....that's what I call real issues lol. Thanks for your comments. Your car will be amazing! Good luck. Stay in touch!
@@DownShiftThrottle I definitely wouldn't go for anything made by land rover lol. Minor issues which are quickly rectified I can live with. Fingers crossed I get lucky after my last experience!
Control panel not under warranty on a brand new car? 🤨 it’s clearly a fault not due to wear and tear, what a weird situation. I can understand if it’s out of manufacturer warranty and then it’s extended, but from new and within first 3 years is strange
To be honest....it's been fixed 1st time for each issue which i can't argue with. Service from Bmw Network has been pretty good. Other than a couple of quibbles nothing really to cry about.
Having problems on my 2021 m340d where drivers mirror stopped ripping when reverse is selected they are saying both mirrors shouldn’t dip when reverse is selected but the car definitely dipped both mirrors when I collected from showroom
My m340i broke down .it wouldn't open eventually I opened it with the app on my phone but still wouldn't start the recovery came and the guy disconnected the battery and connected it again then it started does this mean I have to carry a 10 mm socket in the boot in case this happens again ? The car has only done 1600 miles
Having the same problem with my door control buttons... just completely stopped working. Cant put any of the windows down via the drivers door, both mirrors will not move and have decided to lock themselves in the folded up position and cannot be moved out even when driving - extremely dangerous!! Anybody else been having a rattling sound from the exhaust / engine area regarding low revs between 1-2rpm maybe? Louder when engines cold and also when accelerating in Eco Pro? Cars going into the dealer tomorrow, hopefully they dont try and charge me for the door button thing as in the video!!
Pull up the manufacturer date and location, this car sounds like a lemon. Never heard of a G20 have this many issues. My e60 I had was a lemon, and although I hear issues of the F30. I really don’t have any of the issues I hear.
Hey, I have got an issue with my g20 with the idrive connecting to the phone for calls. It connects for wifi and audio but fails for calls etc. Tried several phones and same issue. It was working fine for several weeks and just stopped working. Any ideas??
Driving a G20 for about 6 months now 330i M Sport, munich assembly. No issues so far. But the i drive system does turn off momentary for a 1-2 seconds sometimes when i start up the car. Issues occurs maybe once every 100 start ups. Iether then that car is fine. Only issue i have is the suspension is way to stiff, i do not have the adaptive suspension. Im thinking of putting the OEM F30 dampers on a G20. Will it work ?
Why would you put OEM F30 dampers on a G20.....? I doubt they would fit thats the first thing. Secondly they're probably not up to the job on a G20 with its different dimensions etc....
Quite a few issues which is a shame , didnt like the fact they tried to get out of paying for a control panel. glad all has been resolved and hope all is well from now on. Any plans for Geneva this year?
Thanks mate. Yea I think the dealership tried it on but goes to prove if you can stand your ground then no worries. Yes Geneva is definitely on inshaallah
Did you say they did a software update and the clunking sound going over speed bumps went away? I’m having that issue and they keep saying they can’t find and issue and I’ve been unable to duplicate it while at the dealership. It’s fairly intermittent, but probably happens maybe 2-3 times per week.
I have the mirror fault. And I don’t feel anything different with driving styles, adaptive, comfort and M sport. It sounds like I’m hitting something under the car when driving over speed bumps. Is this the same problem you addressed in this video?

Never buy a first year production cycle car. Especially BMW
Don't worry.....plenty of good things to come!
I agree. The only exception is if that first year model has been proven to work. Aka buy used and do your research. Bought my first year civic si and never looked back bro
There were a lot of problems with E65/60/90. But with F series BMW fixed it
Канон Мебельная фабрика I still own an f10 I’m afraid to buy a g30. One thing about the g series is how long is the digital cluster gonna last but I love my f10
Arsebandit1886 also low profile tires a gonna have wear and tear and tire pressure issues across all manufactures
I'm from a Electronic manufacturing background and I would always advise that you stay away from new technology for 12 months until all the gremlins are ironed out.. Most manufacturers don't have the appropiate Quality control checks in place to address these reliability issues.
Very true....I though it I did just that as the tech had been around in other BMW models for over a year lol
You are 100% correct bro. I’m from the tech background and the amount of bullshit I see in code control is straight up terrible.
Seems like Bmw keeps these kind of problems with electronic devices since the 90's. That's a shame, especially for the prices that these cars costs.
German cars are well built but their electronic plagues are every mini mechanics nightmares lol
I don't like the grill opening/closing feature. Much rather they just stay open like traditional BMW's, that's just another thing that can go wrong in the future.
Especially if it gets bumped by some careless driver in a car park...
This is the reason I always hold out until the lci models are released 3 yrs into production by which time the gremlins have been ironed out.
True but they also have issues with newer tech that's introduced.
Look at the 14 plate M4 and compare it to the competition pack. Completely different cars.
Just don't buy an european car if you're looking for reliability and cheap miles.
Wait at least the first two years of the generation before you buy
I am coming up to 26k on my 2019 330ix, and I have have not a single issue with this car. The build quality is as good as on my fathers 1970s and 1980s Merecedes E classes. My prior F30 was rock solid as well.
SAME HERE! 👺👺👺👺👺👺👺👺👺👺👺👺👺👺👺👺👺👺👺👺👺👺👺
Well I'm happy that its only those issues you have encountered so far. Some people with other brands experiencing some more serious stuff. Nice vid

I’ve been driving my f30 for 4 years now and have been astounded at the way the tyre pressures hold up. Same wheels as yours

I keep hearing issues like this. Having owned a Lexus for many years and then switched to BMW earlier this year, I'm hoping I don't experience issues like this. Lexus customer service puts BMW service to shame. Its true what they say, Lexus is number 1.

I think 2021 is a good way to buy a brand new G20 3-Serie. Btw thanks for addressing the infos.

You'll be surprised how many cars actually get delivered with checks in the suspension......
Not a very good advertisement for the bmw G23 3 series lol
Wow that's serious kms! I guess your car gets driven for its purpose. Good to know you're having trouble free motoring!

A few issues there....not every car would have these issues. All fixed under warranty first time round.
Still can’t decide on which car lol I like the r line tigaun as well keep looking on you tube I like the panoramic roof
My bmw g20. Build March 2019. 25000km.
Problems:
- Mirror sensor (shut down the complete left door panel, and several functions )
- car settings were always lost
- trunk doesn't open per foot anymore
- head up display doesn't show navigation or radio scrolling (right side)
- radio cover (front middle one) was vibrating like hell
Check your display options for the head up display. You might have deselected the nav map on HUD.
Trunk option again might be disabled in the idrive.
Mine just overheated after 4,000 miles and I bought it last March. The pulley got loosened and broke the belt. I'm going to trade in this car on my first opportunity.
Not great mate....must have leaked coolant?
Do a full in depth review of the idrive 7 and every feature if possible. ( kinda like a guide ) thanks so much 🔥🔥🔥
Yes and hidden menu pleaseeeee
A good honest and fair review. The issue I have is the number of visits to the dealership to resolve these type of issues with my G20.
Main thing to note is that as long as the fix is done first time and it doesn't recur again. I've had no issues since back-end of 2019 now. Hopefully all good now!
Mine has front disc rotor issue, brought back to BMW to check. Hopefully they replaced the disc brake than giving me excuse.
Thanks mate for the video, you really help me a lot to find out my cars problems!
Thanks for your comment. Hope this helps.
Very informative video. Just put in a deposit for an M340ix. Hopefully the slightly updated(sort of) 2021 model will get rid of some of the electrical glitches and errors.
Wishful thinking. It's a german car. You get a nice interior and an empty wallet. Fix fix fix, (terribly short) warranty goes out - > pay pay pay.

How is the car holding up so far?
Oh yessss.....I forgot to mention this.....mine does this occasionally. It would recognise the key if its not by the steering wheel proximity......
Amazing I would have expects other issues bur still from the review amazing
That G20 is a beaut. But I need a bigger car I'm waiting to upgrade my f11 but I hate the current 5 series look. I want the new 5 that takes design from the G20. Great video my man!
Thank you. You could consider the G20 touring. It's nice and spacious with a big boot.....
I've owned 3 BMWs; a f20 118i, f30 320i and f32 420i. I've never had the Tyre / rear Tyre issue in any of them.
You were one of the lucky ones then.....
So what‘s the issue that made you open up the hood ?
Was it the radiator vent issue ?
Thanks for letting me know
Just thought I'd open and see if the engine was still there lol

No problem. Glad you found it useful!
I had a G20 loan car 3 months after they came out. In sports mode and comfort mode. And over a speed bump, the passenger side would make a loud bang. At 15mph....
Make sure you dump the car before the warranty runs out!
Dump the car?
I had 2016 3-Series, Base model without all the gimmicks and had check engine within two weeks and they kept updating it with computer without actually fixing anything. Then my cluster and display wouldn’t turn on on a cold day. Turned out they were related and had some wires that were burnt from factory. First couple of years were nightmare since I would be going to dealership regularly. After that it was okay until 4th year. Then I swapped it with new Mercedes GLB. I do miss the driving experience of BMW though.
Yes it's a shame when they cant locate the problem and the experience is dampened. BMWs do have a nice drive though in whichever spec you choose.
The car will hold an error code somewhere in the system. Have your dealership check the car for any error messages....
Not sure which one actually sorted it
Very calm and fair, if of been kicking off by now demanding compo for all the messing around
No issues with the ventilation. Performs well. Might be a bit slow first thing in the morning but other than that no issues.
I had same issues, went in to the settings and you can change the circulation percentages of the fan and vents, it’s all there just got to go through air circulation settings, if you leave it on auto just step up the motor speed this resolved it for me.
Dru It came back from the dealership. Apparently a screw had loosened and was stopping the fan from turning. All seems to work fine now. 😊

Ive got a 320 M 2019
Best car I’ve ever had, the learning gearbox is a pain because I drive differently everyday so it can’t “learn “ my style
Had to get a reset on it last week but small problems
Seriously, try this -
“Hey BMW.....eject the passenger....😂
I did it driving down the M62 with my missus in and we both wondered what was going to happen
Yep I'm having that HUD issue right now too
Interesting to hear about the tyre pressure issue.
I’m experiencing a similar problem with my 118.
I’m at the bloody garage every 2 /3 weeks 😤
Never had this with any other cars.
Check out my M140i Problem vid.....
Here's a suggestion.
Trade it in and get an M140i again 😌😌😌😝😝👍
Lol yea mate. Best car I've owned.
Same here, defnitely some xdrive issue, you basically have to keep contact with the speedbump for it to be smooth and accelerate off it smoothly
Normal, 5 series is more of a luxury cruiser so everything is lighter. 3 series meant to be a sports saloon so everything is unnecessarily heavy
Sounds like you need to stick software technician in the boot to keep faults at bay with software updates, hope my new 1 series doesn't have issues
You may have idrive issues as it's the same.....hopefully you'll be fine
How has the 1 series been in last year? What model exactly?
As to your suspension issue, have you tried keeping it in “comfort” or “sport” mode? Does/did it keep happening?
Yup...happened in all modes. More noticeable in comfort as there's more bounce I guess. All sorted now though which is great news!
@@DownShiftThrottle hey, I have this issue at the moment. How did you fix it and what was the issue?
The dealership did a software update lol
Any problem with steering
My car steering became hard such that i got a tennis elbow
Hello and thanks for the detailliert Video, what did you do with the issue with the left mirror?
BMW fixed it under warranty
My warranty is finished 😜 the problem was at the control panel? From the drivers side?
E46-E38 era was the last reliable cars bmw built, yes they have its problems but when it’s fixed they will go and go
Nice, thank you bro. Would you buy it again? I am struggling do choose be twin the M340i and the C43
m340i no doubt
Mine is in with bmw just now it has a metalic sound coming from it under acceleration not hard acceleration around 1500rpm seems like it's coming from around the centre console a bit like a heat sheild nose when it has came loose. Been in for a few days now they have said they have cured it a bit but now its there when the car is idling and they have opened up a puma case with bmw so will see what they come back with ps mine is an x drive. Anyone else having this issue
Sounds like an under tray. Hopefully get sorted for you
@@DownShiftThrottle they have had it for 3 days and can't find the problem so i don't think it's the undertray . Will hopefully get to the bottom of it next week not so bad they gave me a courtesy car to run about in.
How much do you think it costs to fix the mirror if it doesn’t fold and cannot operate from the driver side?
Probably around £500 if you're having it supplied and fitted by bmw
Thanks mate.....I've never had any issues with warranty on any of my cars as long as you can stand your ground and make a valid point.
My E92 E60 E30 E34 E36 E39 and E46 all had problems on the same tyre. My e87 is the only one that didn't
It’s better to buy the LCI version then, but really great video and content.
I most likely upgrade when the LCI arrives in 3 years
LCI is like a facelift for BMW cars?
Yes.....lifecycle improvement
@@DownShiftThrottle Actually it's "Life Cycle Impulse" but i prefer your version :-)
Mirror issue is common on E9x 3 series
I wonder how you feel these 19inch wheels on speed bumps and pot holes compared to standard 18. I believe an adaptive suspension helps but I really think 18" will give me more comfort with adaptive dumpers. Thus, 19" wheels look better. Can you comment on that?
To be honest these 19" wheels are fine with the adaptive suspension over the bumps. I believe adaptive suspension is part of the Msport Plus pack so if you had 18" wheels you will not get the adaptive suspension. I've had the car lowered and it's still fine.
@@DownShiftThrottle I see. I can get adaptive with a bog standard 18" as part of M package.
I see the sponsor company of this video packed their van in the background of the video
The sponsor company allowed me to film on their premises ;)
Nice comment
So the he was a paid actor from Benz 🧐
I have a problem with the ground clearance; the 13.6 cm / 5.35 inches are not safe for some bumpy roads.Keep this in mind if you live in a place with bumpy roads.
This is why you should lease a bmw. I dont have to fix it, they do!
No do I.....I take it in, get a loan car and they fix it for free. Its warranty.
I like your channel 😍😍 make more videos about bmw problems 🙏♥️
Thanks mate.....only if I have problems lol
Best way to turn the seat heater on 😂😜
Hehehe.....I just chanced it thinking it will say it doesn't recognise the command in which case I wasn't going to add it into the vid.....hahaha!
It was because they thought rain water might have damaged it.....
Never had any tire pressure problems with my BMW. Most probably you have an issue somewhere in your daily commute, maybe some poor road conditions :)
I’m having the same issue with the drivers side mirror it does not fold in nor am I able to control it?
Take it to the dealers they will look after you.
I have HK amplifier probkems it cuts of bass and poping sound comes from speaker
Sounds like very poor service from BMW mate to be honest and your car has had far too many problems for a new car...
To be honest....it's been fixed 1st time for each issue which i can't argue with. Service from Bmw Network has been pretty good. Other than a couple of quibbles nothing really to cry about.
@@DownShiftThrottle you have taken it well mate but that's a lot of issues for a new car.
Trust me mate.....this is nothing. Go check out my Range Rover Evoque problem vid.....
Having problems on my 2021 m340d where drivers mirror stopped ripping when reverse is selected they are saying both mirrors shouldn’t dip when reverse is selected but the car definitely dipped both mirrors when I collected from showroom
Definitely only the passenger side one should dip
My m340i broke down .it wouldn't open eventually I opened it with the app on my phone but still wouldn't start the recovery came and the guy disconnected the battery and connected it again then it started does this mean I have to carry a 10 mm socket in the boot in case this happens again ? The car has only done 1600 miles
Check out my software upgrade failure vid. You lucky your car started!
What size are your tires? I'm thinking of getting this car in 19 wheels. What do you think or recommend?
These are 19" wheels.....the only size I'd have....the 18" wheels are not my choice....think they look too small but hey that's my opinion.
Any ideas??
Try updating the idrive software....
It just went away not sure if it was software related but could have beendue to adaptive dampers
I have the mirror fault. And I don’t feel anything different with driving styles, adaptive, comfort and M sport. It sounds like I’m hitting something under the car when driving over speed bumps. Is this the same problem you addressed in this video?
It does get much more sporty in m sport setting
Yea that's exactly how my car was....felt like I'm hitting something underneath
My dad has 5 series lease right now so many issues the engine light has always gone on. I honestly think lexus is much better.
