- Kapil Sibal is an Indian lawyer and politician. A designated Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court of India, Sibal earned the reputation as one of the country's prominent lawyers. He also serves as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha. Sibal served as a minister under Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, holding various portfolios. In this role, he led Indian delegations at international forums. His tenure was marked by several controversies, including his attempts to regulate internet content.
In 2022, Sibal left the Indian National Congress to independently file his nomination for the Rajya Sabha, with support from the Samajwadi Party. He was subsequently re-elected as President of the Bar Association in the Supreme Court for the 2024-25 term.
In this episode of the ANI podcast with Smita Prakash, Kapil Sibal alleges that "democracy is under threat" in India, and questions the credibility of mainstream media in the country. The Senior Supreme Court Advocate also emphasized the need for judicial reforms in India.

I am inpressed by Dr Sibal, who roasted Ms Smita Prakash. Kapil Sibal is more than a left politician, he should not have the tag "iondependent". He is superb in the Supreme Court and also here in this interview. The lady should have come prepared while facing a person like Sibal.

Smita was trying to give so much respect due to his seniority and age maybe... Sometimes for people like kapil sibal you have to become karan thapar even if someone walks out of the interview... Even though I'm not a great fan of karan's style of questioning but he would have ripped apart kapil i.e. as the judiciary talks these days

In the internet age all local languages can be learned through translation and transliteration without the imposition of any language or script.
NCERT prefers to provide education in Hindi and Urdu but not in regional languages. Why? If Hindi can be written in Urdu script then why not in regional scripts the way Sanskrit can be written? India needed Macaulay to acquire Sanskrit knowledge through translation and transliteration in each language the way he had achieved in English.
