Whether it's professional terminologies, dissecting game tactics, describing style of play on court or pin pointing reasons for achieving winners or misses which Adam is the only one (far as I know) who can quickly call to beat edit.

Even when an opponent begins the attack he’s not afraid to counter attack putting the opponent under pressure even when it looks as if they initially have gained an advantage with their third ball attack! Xu Xin is NIGHTMARE FOR ALL RISING YOUNG TALENTED PLAYERS. Let s remember, Harimoto can once win against any top world super stars. Lin Yun Ju can sometimes win against worlds top players too. But against Xu Xin, they have no chances, they always lose and repetedly lose more clearly.
The main reason is that Xu Xin is the player, who play most logical intelligent table tennis style now in the world. Any his hittings are very confident and balanced between accuracy and speed. You can see that, Xu Xin does not so much often earn points from uncleared cases by extreme powered fast balls. But Xu Xin gradually get advantages by combining spin+positional ball placement+atheletic challenging, then he forces opponents to make errors. So the secret is his statistical percent of fair balls is very hight. The most same player is Timo Boll. Other players can sometimes make devastating fast balls from uncleared, but total statistical percent of fair balls is not hight. It is not science, but it is stupid.
Xu Xin is the representative of very specific chinese invention too, penholder backhand reversed side style. The success of Xu Xin proves that China really can invent effective new style in table tennis. Otherwise, China just shows that they can well copy world styles but can not invent new style.

Let’s keep things in perspective. Lin Yun-Ju just turned 18. Not too many people even knew about him a year ago. He has grown and improved so much as a player in a short span. Congrats on a great tournament for getting back to the finals. While Lin must be disappointed by not repeat as champion, I’m sure he will learn from this experience against a great player Xu Xin. He now knows where to aim to reach the very top and will work hard to improve his skills to get there.

Honestly, it's hard to find a weakness for XX at this point ever since he has really upped his backhand consistency starting this year.
    He has possibly the best:
    1. Touch on short game (really exploiting the advantage of penhold)
    2. Footwork (reaches balls that people don't think could be possible to reach)
    3. FH loop drive (yes, FZD and ML also have strong FH but XX's added side spin really throws many players off)

CNT has cleverly worked out that's the weaker side of LYJ. Most players won't gamble on this tactic. LYJ's BH flick is lethal. His BH is much stronger so Xu Xin has chosen to play FH instead. BTW, Xu Xin being a lefty, has made LYJ a bit awkward 'cause he's so well trained against righties.

In China's standardized pingyin system, Lin's name is "Ru" whereas Taiwan keeps the old way of approximating pronuciation of Chinese words with English pronunciation of alphabets which itself is not standardized at all. Pingyin's "r" is more from the tip of the tongue and lips (in contrast, French's "r" is from the throat) so Lin's name is really somewhere between Ru and Ju in English pronounciation. The commentator got his Chinese lesson from Adam and goes with English way of pronouncing Ru.

@@TheJustin500 Why are you stating stuff that I never said? Age doesn't matter in table tennis since an older person with a slightly slower physique can excel in other parts.
Don't start saying things I never said. Where did I state Harimoto reached his prime? Harimoto is about 10, 12 years away from his prime. Which is obvious since all players play their best years 26-30y +-. Without injuries and no unusual big talents like himself and Lin, he will be fighting for world championships and olympic medals for about another 15 years if all goes well. Heck I want to see him win in Tokyo 2020 when I'm there, would be amazing to see him win gold in person there.
There is a big difference between age not being a big factor in table tennis(hence a 17y old can be world class, but a 37y old as well), and age not being important for progress. Some people think even Timo has still a chance in 2020.. I wouldn't bet on Timo(I never did for titles), but he is defying all the odds non stop and maybe when it's least expected, he will do something insane as getting an olympic medal.
