great video
You had it absolutely brilliant! This is a mountain I will often go back and do from time to time. Great video mate 😎🙌🏼
Cheers David. It really is a great mountain, and as you say, it's still really enjoyable not matter how many times you've done it before.
Well done Calum it looked like a cracking day out 👍
Cheers Neil :) It was a stunning day... crisp and very little wind, but the deep soft snow made the going pretty tough. Totally worth it though!
That was a good slog but worth it in the end😊
It really was... the soft snow made the going really tiresome, but topping out above the cloud was incredible! Have you been up this hill?
👞perb conditions Calum. 😎👌Always fancied a return there in winter.
Totally lucked out at the summit... I felt like I was the only person in Scotland above the clouds at exact moment. What a feeling! Cheers for watching Kev!
Fantastic conditions ❄️👍
The conditions were amazing... the soft snow made it difficult in places, but the wind and cloud made for a beautifully atmospheric top out!
@@calumpaterson123 Looks great 👍
Thank you for the video. I climbed Carn Dearg (the Loch Ossian one) nearly 2 weeks ago, not too far from where you were. Camped over night at the foot of it. It got down to -14 that night, new sleeping bag (Rab) rated to -5, but to be fair, it was more like a summer bag, water froze, energy drink froze 😟 but my whisky was okay 😁 Next day, hiked thru deep snow all along the ridge, to Carn Dearg, was so burnt out, couldn’t reach Sgòr Gaibhre as intended. It was a great adventure though 😁 ATB, Angus
I'm delighted you enjoyed the video, and I'm even more delighted to hear that your whisky survived the sub-zero temperatures. The soft snow can be a serious challenge... it definitely zaps your energy quicker than you think it will. Great job for getting as far as you did! Thanks again for watching :)
@@calumpaterson123 thanks Calum. In early January I climbed Beinn Challum, named after you of course 😀 not far from Beinn Dorain. It was solid frozen deep snow and was quite easy going. In summer it’s a bog monster. Interesting what you said about Beinn Sassanach, I was once in Sweden, we were out skiing and there was a really gentle slope for beginners which they called the Englishman 😂 ATB, Angus
You were right to do Ben Challum in the snow and ice Angus, because as you said, it's bog-nightmare at the best of times.
What’s your jacket called ? The Patagonia one ? Looks light weight
It's the Patagonia Calcite Jacket. I really like it... I spent a bit of time researching waterproof jackets before going for this one, and I must say, I do love it.
