    XD Jon, I feel it prudent to note that you weren't seen because the NPC saw the object you were interacting with, you were seen because the NPC moved into line-of-sight with you between the start of your casting, and the end of it. If you watch back, the 'unseen' icon vanishes before your spell ends, which is why they pinched you for unlocking the owned chest. 24:30

    • @theamazingbatboy
      @theamazingbatboy หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      Yeah the sneak system is a bit opaque because every npc does an opposing skill check every few seconds, making it difficult to parse exactly what dropped your stealth, how line-of-sight works etc. A combat log for stealth checks would've been incredibly useful in this game.

It's an 'Acrobat's' (cat-burglar's) dream weapon! Appreciate that's not Jon's character, and it's (criminally) undervalued but as a card-carrying Nightblade, I choked slightly at the callousness! ;(

    The main difference between Almsivi and Divine Intervention in practical terms is that Divine Intervention typically takes you to the nearest Imperial Fort (since that's where shrines to the Nine Divines usually are) and Almsivi Intervention usually takes you to the nearest Dunmer town (since that's where Tribunal Temples usually are). Often there's kind of an overlap since there are a lot of Imperial forts right next to towns with Temples in them.

    • @varthaner4617
      @varthaner4617 หลายเดือนก่อน +18

      It's the no overlap locations that are interesting. For example, when one places mark next to Kummu Shrine, ALM takes him to Balmora, but DI to Pelagiad, and ALM there takes to Vivec, it's like having Mark in 2 major cities at the same time, with useful Feather shrine too. Bonus trivia: casting the Feather 100 over same period of time as Blessing of Humility would cost player 17280 magicka.

    11:30 By the way, if you're going to run around and collect tons of ingredients for fatigue potions, then it might help you if you occasionally make fatigue potions with them. Not only do you train alchemy, which is good for you, but you also don't need to be so reliant on being able to rest, which is also good for you. As you noticed, they start getting good now, and a single one of those potions you're making is able to pretty much fully restore you. This also means you don't need to carry as many around.
    And you figured out the value of books, so small steps…. 🤭
    34:30 On a related note, scrolls will happily be *even more* valuable than books and easy to carry around. In fact, for a long time, you will have problem unloading them fast enough (unless you still have that glitch where vendor's money immediately refreshes). You will commonly see even mediocre scrolls be worth 100-150 gold for less than half a weight unit. You're probably right that you will never use them, but that also means you're currently running around with a small fortune in your inventory.

    The dagger of judgement is actually incredible for short blade builds since its damage to strength and endurance is permanent and stacks so you can slowly whittle down even the strongest opponent. There are staff equivalents with the same effect.

    • @MrGhosta5
      @MrGhosta5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's highly effective against nocs because after enough hits it will damage their strength to the point that they become over encumbered and can't move.

    • @TippisBRC
      @TippisBRC หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      To be fair, the difference and practical effects of the three Absorb / Drain / Damage [stat] spells is a bit vague and the way they work on NPCs in particular often becomes a matter of equally vague probabilities. Since even heavily armoured enemies generally aren't very near their weight capacity (unlike some players we know) for instance, it takes a while for reduced strength to kick in… but it's there. They *do* slow down, and they *do* deal less damage - you're just not likely to notice it until the stat is basically reduced to zero. Same with Agility and their hit chance/stagger chance.
      If you just read the basic descriptions, they almost feel redundant, but the way they interact with, for instance, magic reflect and resistances, or how some of them just reset after the spell wears out, So reading the description itself can be almost as opaque as trying to observe the effects in action.
      Just know that for base attributes and skills, Damage > Absorb > Drain (until you go up against Daedra), whereas for derived stats (health, fatigue), Absorb > Damage > Drain. In fact, Drain in general is a pretty bad effect unless its potent enough to kill a target outright.

    • @MrGhosta5
      @MrGhosta5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @TippisBRC The primary reason to use drain is that it's cheaper and easier to cast then absorb or damage.
      Absorb is safer to use against daedra because if it gets reflected it doesn't do anything because you can't absorb yourself.

    So a minor point about the Nerevarine, at the time the prophecy was originally said, there was no Empire founded by Tiber Septim, later to become Talos, that came later. So the Nerevarine driving out the Empire, that's something the Ashlanders added later as part of their whole cult, but the chosen one was never meant to drive out the Empire.

    • @Mobysimo

      I always wondered, given what ends up happening, if the original prophecy was about traitors and it was corrupted into 'Outsiders' as time went on

    • @TippisBRC
      @TippisBRC หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      The original outsiders were Nords, Orcs and Dwemer (in various combinations, waves, and iterations). The Chimer/Dunmer have consistently wanted to throw people out of their lands so it's pretty handy from a history-myth-turning-to-prophecy standpoint that a new bunch of outsiders came along and tried to impart their control as well.
      …but then, with the way those factions and alliances fractured and reformed multiple times even back in the mythic era, it's impossible to tell how much of the original tales have been warped for new purposes over time. In a way, it will always be “true”.

    I think the only hat sexy enough to replace the Colovian Fur Helm would be the Helm of Tohan. Looks badass, it's medium armor, and the fact that it has the highest enchanting capacity of any helm is just bonus.

    The whole question of whether the player is the chosen one is… spoilery.
    …something that will never fully be answered. Even after you get a very clear one, it is open for interpretation whether that answer is correct, or *when* it is correct, or if it even matters if it is correct or not. Welcome to an Elder Scrolls game with, you know, writing. And ideas. Funnily enough, every single one of your instincts and guesses can be considered correct, at once, even the conflicting ones.

      It's mythology the only reason mythology is ever straightforward is when a religion uses it for political reasons. Otherwise it's just stories, and what those stories mean to people.

    • @TippisBRC
      @TippisBRC หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It was a while since I ran through it, but iirc that's even an explicit explanation given at some point: the emperor is actively using the myth to drive an agenda. Whether it happens to be true or not is secondary to people believing it and doing what the emperor wants. But even that notion is buried in a bunch of optional lore and conversations so it's a story that is potentially left untold to the player.
      …and I suppose it's also telling that the two parties that most explicitly offer a straight answer are a demon prince and the supposed badguy of the myth. So pick your poison. 😄

    • @thechatteringclown
      @thechatteringclown หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      eh, i'm more of a redoran loyalist myself. they are the superior house after all, seeing as they were the ones who protected morrowind during the oblivion crisis/argonian attack.
      but nah, jokes aside, it's mostly just because in morrowind you actually need the proper skills to advance in a faction and redoran is usually the best option for my go to spellsword warrior character.

    It bears (constant) repeating: Morrowind does NOT hold your hand like later Bethesda games. The sacred object won't always be on a massive pedestal in a beam of light or in the last room of the dungeon. Some of the best artifact level items in this game are sitting in plain sight, you just have to look around - poke into corners, look behind objects, and peer down into buckets, etc. Speaking of being curious, at some point you might want to look into the red 'status' icon you've been walking about with for the past few episodes. Just because there's no obvious effect doesn't mean there's no effect on your character.
    The easiest way to get endurance up is to pick a fist fight with a mud crab. With orcish armor, it should be a breeze.

    Your skepticism about the main character being the Nerevarine is exactly what made this game's lore special. Like in the game's historical books, it's hard to tell what's biased and what's accurate. Without spoiling anything, I think you're right to question the possibility of being the big chosen one and that's probably what the developers intended. Are you a reincarnated local legend, or are you just some random person plucked from your home province and thrown into another country based on circumstances and coincidence? Does the Emperor believe in the prophecy and they want to fulfill it, or did someone from the Blades just find it convenient to play into the prophecy so that they can investigate potential troubles that may be brewing within a culture that's hostile to them?
    This game is all about raising questions and *maybe* answering them. Just keep reading books and talking to people, maybe one day you'll feel satisfied with the answers you receive.
