Hmm. I have a late model 316i E30. It's a Gulf-spec car which is similar to Euro-spec I think. My tank has the crossover pipe AND uses two fuel level senders. I'm not sure what the fluid capacity is tho.
I've jumped the pump on my late model car and looked down that drivers side hole and watched the siphon jet pump drain the left side bowl pretty effectively. It works! I believe I have some issue with the higher required fuel pressure on my new motor restricting the flow so I have less return flow than stock, requires a stronger pump now for supplying the engine necessarily but maintaining the same fuel return fuel flow. Dunno...
How are these tanks quality wise? My tank is pretty rusty and was curious if I should try to clean it or get one of these eBay tanks. I have a late model with early style tank. Oem replacement is $1500 not including the connection pipe which is another $170, so these would save me big time.
Overall the quality and fitment is good. Obviously your not getting the standards of an oem product, but for the price can't be argue much. Usually they arrive a little dingged up which is the only downside
Yes have thought of that. But eventually the driver side pump you would add would starve itself unless you set it so auto turn off at a certain gas level
88 is a weird year. It might still use the early model style gas tank. Easiest way to check is look under the car. If there is a pipe under the driveshaft that connects the two tanks it's early. If there isn't. It's late model
yeh mine is a euro version and im pretty sure I have this too as I got an inspection camera the other day and put it down in there and it seems like there is some flow passage thing to the other side... its hard to tell right now but im certain, the problem is the flash rust and varnish and etc crap that is making me hard to diagnose if thats what exactly it is... I put more of my wash mix in last night so im wondering if that might have topped it up enough for it to possibly get into there if that thing does exist and I have it... ill report back later @themaskeddriver
Nothing...same gas tank. Gas tank only changed in early vs late model...also I believe the the late model 318is still uses the early model style gas tank
I've never found a large tank on any pre face-lift car. But I could be wrong. Didn't know they made large tanks with only one level sender. You have a part number or pictured of the other thank would love to see
@@themaskeddriver Awesome video, I was wondering what was inside that tank! For what it's worth, I have a '91 318is, and it has the smaller tank with 1 sender. I just assumed the 4-cyl models came with the smaller tank, but I could be wrong
I have been looking for this info everywhere
Highly apreciated
My bloody fuel return pipe is blocked
Unfortunately it's a common issue
@@themaskeddriver
Do you know any way of clearing this return pipe
I have tried a few chemicals
Nothing!

It's a later version of the early model tank
I love your channel. You deserve lots more subs. Keep it up!
Thank you!

Early OEM tanks also have baffles to keep the fuel from splashing. The holes on the basket are also smaller in an OEM Tank.
Yes the holes seem to be different on the oem vs aftermarket

You can do the 2 intank pumps method .

If I go too fast through a corner my fuel pump takes som air and the power drops.. any ideas? what to check ? or just a bad fuel pump ? Thank you !
If you have an early model tank that's a very common issue. Fuel slosh. It's a little better on late model tanks since there are slosh guards
@@themaskeddriver i will check. thank you !
the car is from '88

weird that early model, when in europe models has in bottom side that cross hose, so fuel could flow other side
If you have pictures I'd love to see the European version. Dm me on Instagram

What is the difference between a 1988 e30 325i tank than an 325is

Thanks for replying
the m40 version of e30, does it have the 1 or 2 fuel sender level?
Late model 318i usually had an early model style tank. So 1 fuel sender. I'm pretty sure but there is a possibility I'm wrong
@@themaskeddriver are they the same (part number)? the right (same) side of fuel sender sensor for early n late version?
Not sure check realoem for part number
@@moza260 yes the right side level sender is the same for late and early. Fuel pump hanger is slightly difference between early and late.
@@themaskeddriver thx for the information..
those are not Early or Late model tanks, those are 55 and 63ltr options. both of them were as an option on FL and preFl cars.

Very interesting and good to know!
my late model uk 316 was specced up from factory with a 63l tank. its the lux package. dunno if that is part of it?@@mrsinister23
