- Hi and welcome to my channel.
In this video I go through all the steps of the fuel system restoration, including the tank, hardware, fuel lines and vapour tank piping modifications.
With the underside repairs now complete, I am able to start installing all the components back onto the car to get it back onto it's wheels, first up in the fuel system.
The tank was in good condition but the usual areas of rust around the seams, these were converted and some areas removed to stop the rust reappearing. The vapour system hs been modified due to me removing the carbon canister from the engine bay, but the port still required a vent so I added a crank case breather straight onto the tank for it to vent out inside the wheel well.

Great to hear🫡

Well done! Good on ya !
Thanks man!
Nice work!
Thanks man!
Super clean work and thorough too!👍
thanks man!
Brilliant project , a pleasure to watch best of luck 💪
Thanks! More to come soon
bloody brilliant mate...I'm just about to start the fuel and brake lines on my Z3 so this is perfect timing..I love POR15...expensive stuff but worth it....
Thanks man! Hope this helps you out. Good luck with your build, I love Z3’s! My diff is actually from a 2.8 Z3
@@BadE30 I've posted your link on my Z3 forum, so prepare for more subs !...it's helped me out enormously. I've done the Trailing Arms, Diff, subframe and driveshafts, was about to tackle the rear wheel arches and sills when I'd thought I'd nip back and do some homework !
@@PompeyMatt17 cool as man. Appreciate the sharing!
Out here taking notes 📝
The fuel system piping took me a long minute to properly understand! I think it now makes sense..
@@BadE30 best get in the car then as I’m going to need you to drive over here and lend me a hand
@@benwalsh4440 😂😂
@@BadE30 I don’t know why you’re laughing 😂 no but seriously, I will be messaging you for advice in the near future. But you know how my progress goes so it probably wouldn’t be near future lol.
@@benwalsh4440 happy to help man. I got enough help getting to this point so it would be unfair of me not to offload the knowledge I’ve gained
Great work especially on the brake lines they're a nightmare to get to look decent, there's always something unnerving about seen flames and sparks around a fuel tank even if it is empty 😂
That was my first time to, was so confused when I first started. Took me a long while to get comfortable with the process.
Also yes, I purged it many times but still worrying!
brake lines u shouldve made steel not copper if u want me to be honest but over all nice job
@@NemtorYT they’re cupronickel, which is a mix of copper and nickel. This gives the best resistance to corrosion.
Hello Bad e30,
Really nice work and video, couldn't hope for better.
I have only one issue, on one of the fuel tank protection plate, I broke one nut because of the rust. Do you know if the thread where you screw the nut is part of the frame or is removable?
Excellent work. I will definitely be using your videos as a reference when i get to this point. One thing i keep meaning to ask you is how come you decided to carry out this work on an estate instead of an iconic coupe?
Good to hear.
About doing the work on a touring, I personally prefer the shape. I understand the value of the car may be less, but I am building it for myself rather than to sell
What tool did you use to bend the brake lines? I see you using a blue one and a black one? Can you share? Thanks.
Hopefully these links work:
