I am so thankful I found this! It is December 23rd, 7pm and I am frantically struggling to finish my families ornaments and I am SO slow and sewing. If you say glue is fine, then I believe you!
I am team glue. I squeeze my glue on a piece of wax paper. I then use a wooden toothpick to dot spots of glue on the seam as I add the the trim. Much easier than squeezing the bottle. It gives me more control on the amount of glue. Great finish Helen. Always enjoy any of of videos. Miriam in Texas.
I have done both, but I think I'm on Team Glue. I've never used the pins, so I'm going to try that the next time. Thanks, as always, for your excellent tutorials.
Thank you for showing both sewing and glueing and how they look different. I’ve never tried either, but like the glue look so maybe I’ll be team glue. You never know. Thanks for taking time to do this Helen.
Timely tutorial as I’m currently finishing some Halloween/fall smalls and want to finish the edges with trim. Chenille is a good choice for some of these finishes. Thanks so much😊
I think I will glue the chenille to keep it more fluffy, and with the Aleene's I can reposition it a bit if I get a twist in it. The 2-tone color looks great. Very Nice! Thanks so much!!
Thanks for another great tutorial Helen! I'm team glue too! 😆 When you use regular sewing thread to hand stitch a hole closed or attach pom-pom trim, do you just use a 1 ply strand? I've always used 2 ply, but I don't like it. I'd like to use 1 ply but I was always worried it wouldn't be strong enough.
I do use two strands when I'm sewing the bottom closed. I take a longer strand and double it so I can use the loop method. But I only use one strand when I'm sewing on trim. I figure I'm not pulling on it hard, so it should be strong enough, and I want to keep it thin so it blends in as well as possible.
Thanks a lot for this tutorial and showing us the difference between the 2.
Love Love Love your tutorials…..I’ve tried so long to get Lady Dot Grab Bags but have haven’t gotten any yet, darn it! 💚
So helpful Helen. Thanks! 🍁🍂🍁🍂
Wonderful video on how to add chenille trim by sewing or gluing.

Again loving the finishing videos from a stitcher that doesn’t sew 😳
Team GLUE here :) but I did wonder how you would sew the chenille. Thanks so much for another tutorial, Helen.
Thanks as I have only used it once but so good to know both ways.
Thank you Helen! That was exactly what I needed. #teamGlue -Carolyn

Thank you, Helen. Wonderful tutorial.

I like the look of both methods. Thank you so much for great instructions. I think I will try the glue and pin method first!
I’ve only tried team sew, so I’m going to try glue-you make it look so easy but I know it takes talent! :)
I like both methods. Going to try both on 2 ornaments that I need to finish and see which one I like best. Thank you for sharing! ❤

🤗 Thank you Helen! The gluing is faster but I did like the looks of the sewn, although I will probably never do either! Take care.🎃
🤣🤣
Thank you…I have chenille trim but have never used it. I will give these techniques a try.
Thank you Helen! I am TEAM GLUE!

Thank you Helen !
Team glue for sure.
Thank you! I usually glue but I might try stitching.
Thank you. I like the sewing method results.
Thank you for the tutorial!
Thank you! Very helpful!
Either way, both pillows are beautiful
Thank you! Awesome!
Thank you!
I believe the technique is called couching when you sew over it like you showed in the beginning.
I want to try a block finish. 1 2 3 4 5.

Just wondering if there is a wider chenille that could be machine sewn as a quilt binding…
I've never seen anything like that, but that doesn't mean there isn't. Chenille isn't my favorite to work with so I really haven't researched it.
Do you find the glue keeps it on pretty well? I’m about to attempt a pillow finish with it and I definitely like the look of glued vs sewn.
I haven't had a problem with the glue. I leave the pins in until it dries and mine have held on fine
🐨👍
Chenille is definitely not my trim of choice. I used it once. Tried sewing then gluing and made a glob by mess of it. Give me Pom-poms!
I'm with you, pom poms all the way!
Thanks for the tutorial!
