@@ramtrucks721 Whereas I would agree that "whereas" is seldom used in live conversation, except perhaps between two academics, it is still regularly used in formal spoken and written English. As I just did. It is somewhat of a marker of intelligent discourse, a point that you seem to have missed.
However my point was that if you need to choose between "И" and "А", it is a good test to see if "whereas" will fit, because if it fits, you should use "А".
I hope that this clarifies what I was trying to say.

Разве на других языках предложения не так строятся? Там же под русским перевод на английский, и он выглядит правильно. Значит у них тоже можно делать такие предложения
Конечно строятся. Если говорить о союзе "а", то в английском получается, что нюансы размыты и используется либо and, либо but. Среднего нет чтоли (а может и есть, не берусь утверждать). Хотя, при желании наверно как-то и можно будет явно в словах эту "срединность" передать на английском.
В английском есть either и also. А у нас это все одно и тоже и в отрицательных, и в утвердительных предложениях. Видимо есть какой-то потаённый смысл, а может просто правило, хз.

Ну- has no direct translation.
It can express a call to action: Ну, иди уже!
It can express surprise: Ну и гроза! Да ну?
It can sometimes replace what? or let's say.

Notice for yourself, friends! The particle "а" has less opposition, can be used in enumeration, in list:
Этот кубик будет красный, другой будет синий, А третий будет жёлтый.
(This cube will be red, another will be blue, and the third will be yellow.)
Здесь растет лук, рядом растет морковь, а на дальних грядках растут фасоль и укроп.
(Onions grow here, carrots grow nearby, and beans and dill grow in distant beds.)

I'm might be late, but i should say that, we in Russia actually don't study Ukrainian. Yeah it's a nice language which sounds a bit funny for us(not because of any bad things, just because of some pronunciations) but its more like language that made by using of russian. For example that works with English too: we have "Canadian English" "British English" and "American" one, so Ukrainian its like one of the "Russian languages" which sounds similar to our language but have their own grammar and all.
In Ukraine people actually study russian too, because its the most used language here. Sooo, i hope you won't think that I'm humiliating or hating anyone, I'm just saying how everything works here.
(Sorry if i made a lot of mistakes, my English not a best one in the world 😅)
