I love what Mattel is trying to do. But I also feel that they have alot of people on their team that cater to an older demographic in terms of collecting. It turns out making some of the fashions look a little dated. I'd love to see Mattel bring 80s and 90s retired headmolds back for the Barbie Extra line. If Mattel could stray away from cheap hair, pixelated screenings, and misaligned lips, these dolls could be amazing!
The 80s,90s,00s are having a moment, they totally have all the fuel to make extra, EXTRA.
Maybe wave 3 can be their best Extras yet!

First off I love your content and your honesty. Second, of all the doll lines, Barbie has become my least favourite because the quality in both the doll (the hollow cheap feeling plastic) and the clothes, has gone down so drastically. And ugh the clothes. Mattel has trapped Barbie in 2000-2009. The fashion is so outdated and tacky. That’s not to say other doll lines always have top tier fashions (some do fall flat and look weird) but Barbie is trapped in the 2000’s and it’s like looking at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards red carpet looks from the noughties lol Barbie, while their diversity in their dolls is awesome, the quality and fashion is not lol As for the dolls in this vid, the dolls themselves are both beautiful. They have lovely faces. I like the second more. Her face and hair are really cute ☺️
@Wow Epic Wish they had had the ‘if it’s not broken don’t fix it’ attitude with Monster High. It was an amazing doll line but then they went and made that terrible, cutesy reboot. I mean I know why they did that, but it was just tragic. I just hope this upcoming MH reboot isn’t god awful like the last one. I hope the dolls are their original quality and glory or better lol

Love that deadpan look on his face when he introduces the second pet, it was an LOL moment for me. That is why I like listen to him talk about dolls, don't always agree, but still love how opinionated he is.
I really like that Extra Barbie with the blue hair (I also hate the "bow" and I would love to see how you restyle it). Her face sculpt is gorgeous. I usually don't care about the pet but I am a sucker for cats so I kind of like this one. I love how her clothes and accessories are cat themed too. Okay, now I really want her - I hope I can find her in the US!
Barbie Extra line is the reason why I became a doll collector. Really love them and I hate the MTM body, so I'm really happy they have this articulation
The Barbie extra line is growing on me. I like this doll alot and might actually get her. I'll probably leave her boxed as I actually really like the look. Still not loving the colours on of the clothes though but this wave is better then the first imo.
I think the extra dolls not having names actually is one of the factors that really differs these from the OMG dolls. one of the main reasons that Barbie and MGA r really not selling the same thing to children is that with the MGA toys you as a kid almost need to find the one u identify with and with Barbie its always been about making her identify with you. she's always been a doll for imprinting yourself onto for play while the OMG and Rainbow High dolls are all thoroughly crafted characters and personalities that you get invited into their world. its a totally different experience for the kid. i genuinely think its y even though they are ever battling set of rival companies they will never actually unseat one another. if i was a kid id want it all not one or the other. i do now.
These dolls and their fashions are centered around Kawaii animation and style merged with barbies style
You know that LOL surprise is still doing hair bows and stuff like bows made out of your own hair so if Barbies doing it it's out of date but if LOL does it it's not out-of-date?
Maybe it's best to leave them with no name and bio for creative playtime for coming up with unique names and backstories.Awsome review 😗😙🤗
For the extra doll #8, the purple top one, she has 2 top on. In myfroggy video, she remove the transparent purple top and under it is a purple bralette for a more casual style with the short. I was shock barbie didn't take short cut and made an additional top OMG
For the blue hair doll, I love lady ga ga bow hair style but I feel the Barbie did it wrong. The bow look too weird looking, too many rubberband etc if they just did a bigger bow with her natural hair like ga ga it would look better IMO I really wish the bow didn't look soooo weird. The doll is really cute and can;t wait to get it when it on sale. I don;t think the set is worth $30. If the doll was a made to move body maybe the $30.

That's not true. There was a lot fashionistas in heels. N. 26, 27, 32, 37, 39, 48, 63, 77 and more. I think almost a half of curvy dolls in a heels.

The Extra 30 reminds me of Holly Go Lightly with her cat. I want to see her when you get rid of the bow hairstyle. I would probably get two because the packaging is clever. The Extra #7 I would get only for her pet because it's supposed to be a Pomeranian and I have one, so I want the mascot. I would get her when she goes on clearance and find someone to rehome the doll with.

I can't help it but I don't consider any Barbie dolls Mattel makes right now to be "Barbie" they just don't give that vibe to me.

I love all of the Barbie EXTRA dolls 😍😍😍. The 3rd doll is my fav from the wave 1, because she was the 1st what I bought 2 months ago and tiring collect all of them and I kept their boxes too🤣🥰. I realy like your opinion about different kinds of dolls, your right, but Barbie just Barbie😅☺. I can't wait to see the new ones in my collection. 🥲🥺😍

I was expecting Dollar General/ Family dollar dolls, not what I ended up buying when I picked one up to use for a fit model for my Looks Petite doll. Sure, she' hollow but the plastic feels nice. I ended up giving her metalic cyan hair on a whim. So I'm adding this Extra Doll to Mega Fringe that I'm going to look for this month. ...Also, I've started looking and I see this one NOWHERE!

I love Extra line I enjoy them so much, I just wish they step it up with the quality I mean we don't need pets, we need more clothing, and I really agree, even Extra need cohesion cause sometimes they look kinda weird but overall I love the line like I never thought I would enjoy Barbie so much

Ive found with this doll line that what it excels at is being able to market to both children and adult collectors, and there are certain dolls who’s fashion and style is amazing while others seem extremely lacking to me this doll being an example. But #1, #2, and #5 are stunning to me

Mattel is finally going on the right direction when it comes to quality but I miss how great they used to be when it comes to concepts like the storylines they’d incorporate into each of their brands/lines, the characterization and development of their characters, etc
Storytelling has always been mattel’s biggest strength and what set their lines apart from other companies’ and they just completely ditched it

The one with the different colored hairbands could easily pull off a very late 90s/early 2000s look if she was styled a little bit better. She's quite cute and I really like the curvier Barbie dolls, but it's her clothes that throw me off lol nothing matches, but her hairstyle is cute

I like the articulation of these dolls and the accessories, less the pets, are good. Metallic jewelry and translucent glasses, yay! Love the painted edges of the second doll's hair. Wish her lip color was more realistic.
The lip colour on the Extra #7 is horrible. I plan to paint over it using acrylic paint and a tiny 00 brush with a deep pink or even red.
I think the Extra line is okay. I have #5 and will likely get #7 or #8, and that is probably enough for me. The faces are cute, and the clothes have some decent pieces, even if they don’t necessarily go that well together. The negatives for me are the low hair quality and the variance in the leg colour.
These Extra Dolls need to have some kind of theme... at least then their style could feel cohesive. Go EXTRA with a 80s or 90s theme etc.
I use to love love love Barbie. The ONLY Barbie collection that I buy now are the Inspiring Women dolls. The rest of them are crap. Barbie should stop catering and compromising, and get back to making quality dolls. These dolls just look silly and cheap. They're faces are too mature for these childish and garish clothes.
I love the barbie extra with blue hair! I like her jewelry and her face sculpt is beautiful. I’m normally not into the pets. But I love the little kitty with this one and all the cat-themed accessories. Overall, I do not like the second wave of Barbie extra…they seem like a hott mess. But I really do like this blue-haired girl. The mix-and-match accessories are kind of giving me jewel girl Barbie vibes from 2000.
One of the girls were gifted the beauty in purple. We named her Alina ⭐ and she's a rap star in our show. She's so pretty.
I was so disappointed in the barbie extra quality especially the hair, considering the price of them I could have bought a Rainbow High or OMG for a few dollars more and get amazing quality.
Rainbow high and OMG are definitely better but Barbie Extra is the best we are getting for Mattel

I honestly LOVE most of the Extra dolls. I ordered this one yesterday - I'm taking that bow out of her hair too. She has a gorgeous face and hair colour which is what drew me to her. That Extra #7 I don't have yet, but I'm planning to get her, take her hair loose, and paint that garish lip colour a little darker.

Idk if it was just me but the "bigger the hoops..." joke was kinda inappropriate to me and not because it was in a video showcasing a children's toy (you've made it very clear that this channel is for adult collectors like myself) but because it is perpetuating a stereotype used against people of color
She's honestly so much cuter than I thought. I despise the clothes but everything else is actually kinda nice, even the pet. I like how it can actually be displayed on her arm? That's so much more interesting and I hope they continue with that.
Really getting worried about the Extra line due to the fashions though. :( I only like the clothes on two of the dolls this wave vs. last time where they all seemed more thought out. Like, these pieces look kinda hard to salvage and restyle they're so bad.

Thanks for your review. I really like the blue-haired doll, her face, hair, fashions, accessories, box. I got one to display MIB but then found her little cat had somehow rotated around her arm and was now planted in her skirt with its tail in the air. I had to get a knife to inch through the gap in the box (without opening it) to gently poke the cat back into its correct position on her arm. It bent the plastic a bit, not too badly, but I really want to keep it nice and in box as these are now quite rare.
I TRUELLY ADORE all of their fashion, including flashy outragious weird NEON colorful pieces, the more it's kinda weird the more I love! It's like "trashy" 80' PIZZAZZ of the Misfitz and I L-OOOOVE this! So shame they didn't makeup them the same way... but I also LOVE their hair colors! Definitely an EXTRA FAN! I wish they make KEN

The blue Gaga doll is very all over the place and that necklace and shoes are from the old Fashionistas line. It is very underwhelming, considering it is an Extra.
I don’t like the Skipper mould. She looks like she has a terrible overbite... and awful the clothes..I find better ones in the charity shop. So no, it’s not for me but hey...
I recently bought this doll for my niece and the first thing I noticed was also the hair quality. The doll was quite expensive, so it was such a disappointment, but at least the doll itself is nice, and comes with many clothes and accessories, my niece loved it.
Edit: please let us know if you restyled her hair, and if you used boiling water on her, would love to see the result
I like the face molds for the barbie extra dolls, theyre very pretty but the style is so bad. It feels like they use the label extra in an attempt to get away from the fact the style of the dolls doesnt match and looks awful. I want to buy barbies and the extras are some of the best barbies to be released as of late but they still dont appeal to me enough. The quality is still poor and the dolls themselves are in need of restyling even though they are a STYLE doll. I wish mattel would take some notes from MGA. MGA is superior to barbie at the moment.

My niece got her and to me she felt like a doll I would buy from the dollar store, down to the clothes and shoes. Like sure she has some extra articulation but just comparing her to a rainbow high or OMG doll at the same price point she really leaves a lot to be desired. She’s a fun doll for a little girl to play with nonetheless.
