I am so glad you choosed Dream Ella over Barbie, I honestly liked this Barbie design (except the top) and the roothed hair is so nice but i feel like Dream Ella was design prior to this line but maybe future ones will get rooted hair! I suggest getting Ella veterinarian because the fabric is si nice, the doll has a beautiful wight and it’s much better than the colour reveal! I’m still waiting to get my hands on Yasmin colour reveal
I'm leaning toward dream Ella doll. Cheaper in price, but it seems you get a better doll and she can be dressed in other fashions. The barbie is pretty, but those glitter blue legs limit her to just that one look. I must say MGA is really giving Mattel a run for their money. However, Mattel is still superior in variety of head sculpts, hair textures and skin colors.
I wouldn't say her glittery legs limit her. I have 2 of her and made each one an outfit on my rainbow loom. A unicorn outfit/costume for one, and the other i made a pair of shorts in the colors she has on her. If I had more of the rainbow loom rubber bands, I could do more outfits :)
Well Mattel has had a long time to make those and if it’s a parody then it’s kinda making fun of how Barbie used to use the same face sculpts for decades
For the color reveal dolls, it would be so cool if they came with actual clothes and accessories. And of course be less garish. I think that the wigs could be awesome if there were multiple in a set. One could be long and naturally colored, like blonde and another may be more funky like a blue or pink, and so on.
I live for dream Ella's winged heel but I kind a prefer Barbie more. Yeah, the outfit's all over the place and over the top but it kind a reminds me of 80s campy fashion. While Ella looks a little too basic looking. Also Joey, you look even more gorgeous with that stubble you got 🥰
i prefer the barbie one. the color reveal dolls are normally a bunch of colors and patterns thrown together into barbie dolls and we should get used to that. they don’t really wanna make them cohesive and it’s nice sometimes that we see some colors and i’m sure some people love the splash of them. i know the dream ella dolls seem to be more cohesive but they just look like a normal average doll and not something out of the ordinary like the barbie one, in a good way or not.
man... i'm so tired of the color reveals! if they were marketed as specifically color-reveal-to-bathtime-play toys that'd be one thing, but almost every doll in the barbie playline series has been this same level of lazy quality. praying that dream ella coming for barbie's (helmet) wig pushes mattel to get competitive.
I don't think I like the concept of these colour reveal dolls overall so I don't really like either of them, totally agree about there being something to indicate to the buyer which doll you are getting so you don't get doubles. Im not keen on Barbies coloured legs as I feel it restricts the outfits you can put on her really to avoid clashing with them,but the rooted hair is definately better than what she had before.Ella on the other hand is a much better doll price wise ,but I feel the wig lets her down.With rooted hair she would be good.Would be nice to see these dolls with more clothing you can actually dress them up in instead of just a skirt and shoes.Im not a fan of the painted on top but I guess you have to have something for it to be colour reveal.x
I honestly prefer Barbie. What you find cohesive in Dream Ella's design I think is boring and not creative. Barbie is supposed to be themed after a party, so is understandable seeing her full of glitter and color. Her overall look is very 80's with the over the top patterns, which is something that has always suited Barbie. I'd rather have an extravagant doll that a monotone one.
I thought the outfit was extremely ugly but then when you said "80s" and "party" I suddenly saw it in another light and I still don't like it but I can definitely see the concept and it's cute.

These days I can barely tell the difference between the cheap supermarket dolls and new Barbie dolls. One time in a toy store I couldn't find the Barbie dolls anywhere and I was so confused until I realized they were the ones I was standing in front of the whole time. The other day I saw a commercial for new Barbie dolls and the dolls looked exactly like the non-Barbie dolls that no one wanted sold next to actual Barbie dolls when I was younger in the 2000s. I don't say this to be mean, I just feel sad for new kids and I don't understand why is it so complicated to make Barbie dolls as pretty as before.
I kinda love that Barbie. It's so gaudy and 80's. She's my favorite of that bunch. She looks like a birthday party at a like bad old arcade in the 80's with those ugly gaudy carpet patterns, you know? Dream Ella is ugly.

Also for the Ella dolls, just pop her head off, and put some superglue on the peg and pop her head back on. Twist the head a little so that her head isn't permanently stuck and should help with the loose head.
Not sure if this helps each doll should have a code number on the packaging somwhere Pacific to each doll so if you find the doll code you can get the one you want hope that you out
I feel like the wigs on these dolls would lay a lot better if they weren't so afraid of letting the dolls just be bald and didn't insist on MOLDED pixie cuts. That way the wigs don't have to sit on top of molded hair. When I think back to my 'What's Her Face' dolls, I don't remember the wigs looking unnatural or like helmets on their heads, i feel like they always laid nicely. Why don't they just do the painted-on pixie cut, like Barbie use to do with their little babies back in the day.

I like the Dream Ella dolls since they are not picture perfect and are sterdy nice quality. I hope they will make fashion packs. I think the barbie color reveal and fashionistas are too expensive for the bad quality not to mention the paperish Fashions. The fashion packs costs more than a doll with clothes?

Those toys were basically useless humps of plastic after the packaged food was gone, and your parents refused to buy the $20 refill up packs. But if they did, you could play with the thing for another week until that evidently runs out, repeating the cycle again. Those toys must of been massive money wasters for some parents, whose kid loved there easy bake over or realistic eating/pooping baby doll.

Her head had a LARGE hole in the top for the wig and the wig was TOTALLY a helmet with hair. Then her eyes were big, and very blank...

The wigs could have been better in the barbie. Back in 63, Mattel created High fashioned Barbie. She had 4 wigs and they were a lot better than the wigs in color reveal.

I'm not a fan of the colour reveal concept. But if i had to choose one for myself, I'd get the Barbie one simply because I'm a Barbie collector. But if i had to buy it for a child, I'd go with the Dream Ella doll, she looks sturdy and nice (though i don't like her face sculpt)

The wigs could have been better in the barbie. Back in 63, Mattel created High fashioned Barbie. She had 4 wigs and they were a lot better than the wigs in color reveal.
