    Simple, unpretentious, no nonsense, nobody trying to be a comedian, no irritating background music. Excellent videos. Thank you

    Elegant in its simplicity. I really like the packing up just short of the angle and then scooping out just enough to fill the wall/ceiling angle. Thanks, that’s a great takeaway🤙

    You are a master! You make it look easy. I am so impressed with the finish product. After watching many videos of plastering, I realized how sup-standard the plastering in my house was. I bought a 1950's row home, that need a lot of work. The walls were wavy. Coming from a background of painting (and drywalling), it really bothered me. I am guessing that most people wouldn't notice. Most of the walls were in good shape except for the waves. I spent hundreds of hours, using quickset joint compound and a darby to correct the problem. finishing with all purpose drywall. The finish product is great, but it was a lot of work. I often joked that they plastered my house on a Friday afternoon. I am thinking this was just the standard when knocking out whole neighborhoods of row homes after world war two. Thanks for sharing your skills.

    Hi. Like the video as I've just completed a basic plastering course. Could I ask if you'd wet the wall or used PVA prior to your first skim coat?

    • @ipfishing1466

      Hi mate use Pva definitely and if it’s plasterboard you can go straight on with the skim

    Super job 👍 when applying the 2nd coat do you knock up a new gauge.

    • @ipfishing1466
      @ipfishing1466 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually knock up another gauge but if I do have enough left from the fist gauge and it’s still active enough I will use it for a second coat

    Looks like a really good job. Marshaltown do a speed skim, they have one in my local merchants. Never seen anyone use one TH-cam yet though. Are they likely to be as good as the ox?

    You make it look easy! Why do you have to put on two coats?

    • @ipfishing1466
      @ipfishing1466 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      One coat is No enough I usually put on first coat at about 2mm thick and second coat about 1-2mm thick on plasterboard sometimes more depending on the surface whether it is flat or not hope this helps

    Any ideas why my plaster gets dry very quickly on the wall? I see many youtubers do a wall or two and then they get to flatten it. For me that's impossible. I have to flatten with the speedskim right after I've plastered a square meter or less, otherwise it gets dry.

      @@worklife4221 my old walls at home, not sure what they are made of. It's a brick wall with some old mortar on top I guess.
      I've put deep penetrating primer couple of weeks ago then I did undercoat gypsum plaster with a mesh, because there were some cracks on the wall. Haven't put PVA. Then I did one coating with a normal, finer (kinda finishing) gypsum plaster, this was the stage when the plaster started to get dry quicker on the wall, but it was still kinda manageable. Now I'm doing the last coating with a finishing gypsum plaster, it's a very fine one and it gets dry very quickly on the wall, it's almost impossible to work with it. It gets hard as a rock and it gives a very smooth and beautiful finish.

      @@lyudmiltsvetanov2385 Had the undercoat plaster dried out before you put the finish coat on if so that’s probably where u went wrong as the undercoat would have needed Pva before skimming final coat, let me know

      @@lyudmiltsvetanov2385 Yes mate I would give it a good coat of PVA a 3.1 ratio and wait for it to get tacky then hit it with the finish coat multifinish preferably. hope this helps.

    • @ipfishing1466
      @ipfishing1466 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do use spot and stands but for small bits of plastering you mix in a bucket and clean the bucket then you only have one bucket to clean and not one bucket and a spot board
      plus it’s less to carry in your van and have to lug up three fights of stairs like I had to on that job
