    Imagine being gifted a Yamaha SG-2000 at 12 then a PRS Custom 24 at 15! He’s quite fortunate to have very supportive parents and that’s probably why he developed into an amazing guitar player.

    I like that even though Richie doesn't have a lot of vintage guitars, he's personally attached to the ones he shows. After all, to most normal non musicians it's all about the history and they're the ones paying 6 figures for 50s & 60s guitars, while real musicians see them as tools used to 1st craft their music, then that alone makes them their own piece of history. It's not the vintage that makes a guitar great, it's the personal connection one has with whatever particular instrument.

      I'm a musician and a mechanic. They are both tools of the trade. "Vintage" doesn't matter, its results that matter. Certain wrenches and hand tools I've had for decades, because they work for me just the way I want them to, they almost have a soul to them. So are my guitars. Nothing really special, except to me... I too, still have my first "real" guitar...from 1978, an Ibanez Les Paul Custom knock off. Love it because I played the bejeezus out of it for the first chunk of my music career. I have my first strat, again, work horse, served me well for years. Granted, its a 1979 silver anniversary...BUT....I bought it in 1981 for $400....it wasn't some vintage thing then, just a real strat that can handle 5 nights a week. I have a bunch of guitars now...almost 30, but the majority are all played hard and mean something to me. My main guitar is one I made in 1986 and beat the shit out of since. I'm very hard on guitars, I play like Angus Young (movement wise) and use heavy strings just to hold up, very heavy right hand. I really like Epiphones and Fenders the most. My mexican strat just rules.

    Man, what a humble and down to earth guy... Ritchie is such a cool guy. He gives such great and honest breakdowns of his guitars - he seems to be really cool and so down to earth when talking about basically anything - thank you Ritchie, you are truly a breath of fresh air - compared to so many other dudes out there. Thank you for your incredible playing, and your honesty regarding all of the guitars you play... it goes without saying that you make all of your models sound great man - and your movie sounds really cool...

    I recently bought myself a Richie Kotzen Strat in white. In years I’ve played literally hundreads of Strats (I worked for a Fender dealer in Istanbul for 5 years) and owned a bunch of them . What I want to say is, you don’t need a custom shop model. Just buy a Kotzen signature and you are done. A perfect, lively, very comfortable, great instrument. Also one of the best looking guitars as well.

    • @Texturas75
      @Texturas75 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't need a custom shop model, but you need a signature one?

    • @cemsarioglu5947
      @cemsarioglu5947 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@Texturas75 I meant if you want a higher model than the standarts, this is way more economical than the custom shops and close in quality to them. Kotzen Signature is made in Japan. So, that makes it easier to obtain... You get the picture? Same quality, less in price. Because it is an American brand but made in Japan. Do you know anything about MIJ Fenders? I hugely recommend. Cheers. (i bought mine the same price as a standart Made US model. Lucky I guess)

    • @Texturas75
      @Texturas75 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok, IF you want a higher-than-standard model, yes, it seems like a good option for the price. Still, to me it's too much money to spend on a guitar made to meet other person's requirements, unless it meets yours, of course.

    Richie seems slightly eccentric. He doesn't seem to radiate any 'rockstar attitude' like many others of his ability/experience. I suspect his parents had some financial means to be able to furnish him with a Gibson Marauder at 10, Yamaha SG2000 at 12 and a PRS Custom24 at 15. Money well spent as it turns out.

    @ 20:53 I must be sentimental, because if my dad had bought me a guitar @ 15, I wouldn't ever give it up. He mentions he regretted selling it because it was one of the first made, and because he didn't sell it for very much. No mention of because Dad bought it for him. I must be sentimental. I would say, if the guy sold it back to him 10 years later for only $500 more than he sold it, then "The Guy" didn't sell it for very much. ;-) Seems like the Red Yamaha and Great Grandpa's Gibson mean more to him. Cool stuff.

I new some of the work but did not know who it was ( probably because I am busy being a dad for 20 years) but now!!!!...its so great I have (to me) a brand new artist with all these unbelievable new songs and Im just like freaking at his Voice, Songwriting ( Lyrics & Music Both), and Guitar Mastery. Its like a totally new artist to me that just surfaced and Im like so happy yet pissed a little that I did not discover him before...FUCK ME!! When I was searching around on youtube for great songwriting he came up...and Tears came to my eyes when I heard 2 songs and I was hooked.." End of Earth and Doin what the Devil Says to do....and by the way he was a missing link for me in my process in learning to sing....he made me see a certain aspect of vocal training that I was missing.....Anyway Thank You ...I live in Woodland Hills Richie lets hang!!
