Welcome to the very first video of the Common Motor Collective TH-cam Channel. Is this video we are taking a look at all the mods done on Brenden's 1974 Honda CB360. This is what it takes to fix a vintage bike and make a modern Cafe Racer that is reliable, safe, and works at its top performance. It's a daily rider and I ride over 100 miles a week on it. Common Motor Collective is our community workshop in Houston, Texas.

Sir that is a beautiful little bike and I like your philosophy. Keep it simple and clean. Especially the starter remove. Sounds wonderful. I'm a big fan of classic bikes.

I'm so happy you guys are out here giving love and supporting the CB360 family. I bought a really clean and nice example but didn't know of it's reputation. I was immediately worried until of course I found you guys and now I am confident that with the proper work and attention to detail and the help of experts I can have a good time upgrading and maintaining the bike which is what I wanted when I bought it. Just a fun little retro cruiser.
Just picked up a 74 CB360 from New Auburn, WI and hauled it back to Minneapolis/St paul area. Pretty excited to spruce it up...10k miles and mechanically runs well!
Beautiful bike. I'm 17 and most kids my age are all into the new bikes and don't get me wrong I do like the new bikes but no one these days appreciates the older Hondas, Kawasakis , and Suzuki's. Recently I bought a 1979 Suzuki gs550 and I have so far rebuilt the carbs, I went through the hole motor and everything seems fully intact. I love seeing other's that are into the old classic bike's. Great bike you got there and good job!

My first bike bought brand new for $800. Vibrated like crazy when cruising highway. Numb butt after less than an hour. Wimpiest bike I ever owned.
$800 though able to cruise down a highway though? Sounds like a win to me!

Hello everyone I had a similar model in 1974 a 250cc G5 . It's valve and cam chain hissed and rattled this 350 sounds great.
A great realistic upgrade
Just bought a '75 CB360T. Starts fast and runs, uh, sort of ok, sounds like it needs some work. A few little cosmetic issues as well. Really anxious to get it fixed up so I can ride it without worry. thanks for the look at your bike.....anymore on this bike would be welcomed. Thanks. Oz

any idea which model the john deere regulator/rectifier comes off of?
Super neat. One day, if you are tempted, you might do something with the tank paint. Either way, cool bike. Love your approach.
I would degrease it and satin clear coat over it as-is to preserve the aged look. Nothing more. Bikes get weathered, nicked and dinged over time, and also you don’t want the quality of finished to vary, for example new tank paint and old frame. Just my .02. Either do a full frame off or leave it alone.
where do you start when trying to shed the battery and air boxes?
I just recently bought a 74 cb360 for my first project bike. So those pod filters worked with the stock carbs? Was there any adjustment needed? What's the brand on those?
I just modified my bars on my cl450 to run the wires internally. Looks much cleaner.
First off I love your videos, you guys have the best, most consumer friendly shop out there for cb bikes. I’m actually building a 1972 cb350k4, with the stock keihin carbs. I’m at the near end of the build but having difficulty with the carb tuning, any suggestions on jet sizes? I switched over to k&n pod filters btw
Hmmm thats a very popular question we get. We have a video in the works outlining the jetting process that will release in the future. There's so many factors that go into it its impossible to give a recommendation but we do have a few tips in the meantime over at www.common-motor.com/honda-350-jet-kit in the installation description. We also have a support line open on Monday and Tuesday from 12-6 for even more in depth questions.
can you do a vid on how you modded the electrical system, id like to ditch the big battery and clean up the factory wiring job under the seat something similar to yours.
I'm interested in how you've set up the stock carbs to use pod filters. I have a 74 model that I'm putting back together and I'd like to know if the jets need to be changed in order to run pods. Also, what make/model pods are you running?
I'm from HTX! I just got my 78 GL1000 running decently, and i'm looking at picking up one of these since once popped up near me for a good price.
Oh nice! They're great bikes, shoot us a message to our support team if you end up needing help on it. Also they're currently on hold but we usually do a bike meetup every last saturday on the month at Bohemios coffee shop. Once they get going again you should come out!

Hey Brendan. When you switched out the rear shocks did you change the length of the kickstand? i bought a set of shocks that are 1 inch longer and the bike looks like it's going to fall over with the stock kickstand.
If I put pod filters on, will I need to modify the carbs at all? CL360, 1975.
Does anyone know what purpose the small bar connecting the bar risers does? On the 350 I'm rebuilding it's all bent up
The bolts for the side cases are all M6, however the lengths vary from 25 to 55mm. The simplest solution is our Stainless Steel bolt kit.
What size Main & Pilot jets were you running on the bike?
where is your bike at now today? did you do anymore work to it?

Oil isn't rated by "weight" but by viscosity.
Also you can use a capacitor in place of the battery.
Maybe you can help me! I have the same bike. I fixed / replaced a bunch of stuff and it was running great until the other day when i ran out of gas! I ran out, pushed it to a gas station and then the bike would no longer idle! I had tried adjusting the idle and choke but it didnt help. I was able to drive home as long as i gave it a little gas when i was in neutral so it wouldn't stall out. It ran with no problem while driving (no change in idle speed even after increasing / decreasing). I checked the fuel floats and spark plugs everything seemed to be fine!
Where can I get a seat cover like that? Will it fit a 72 350?
Just curious about the on/off switch you installed on the headlight bucket. What does it do that the on/off switch on the right control box doesn't do?
Ben F. I bet he just interrupted the wire going to the low beam prong of the bulb. It will still draw a little power, but nowhere near as much as the headlight.

Quick question! Do you know the paint color for the engine? I just need a few touch-ups for my 75 360 T.
We don't but with the age of the tanks you'll probably need to do a full repaint due to fading.
I have the same bike and carb setup. What jets did you use?
Every bike is always going to be slightly different based on what exactly you're running and where you're running it at. Its always best to start at what the bike had stock from the factory and move up or down based on how the bike pulls to red line.
Are tennis shoes a good idea
Eliminating the electric start? Brave! Do you own stocks in Zimmer Corp? They make artificial knees. I wanted to see difference between this and the 360T and I’m guessing the T is a low spec model. ?
TommyTwobats t is the touring model. Came with as disc brake up front. That’s the only difference from my understanding.

ok it looks good , but... where are the side covers , also with raising the rear shocks 1 inch , you do not actually change the rake angle , just putting a bit more downward pressure on the front end. The forks are still in the triple clamps at the same angle . And when you rode off at the end , Im sure I heard a miss in the engine up the road a bit . maybe still a bit cold ?
