I bought a CB360 in similar condition which was imported from the USA, but I paid £1695 for it!
Firms import bikes like this to the UK and make big profits!
Mine was supposed to be a runner but only ran on one cylinder. The piston rings were seized in the right-hand cylinder!

These bikes are a testament to quality and brilliant engineering. The Japanese had to know the majority of these motorcycles were to be ridden by teenagers with limited to no mechanical skills or money to make repairs. How do I know? I was one of those teenagers in the 60s and 70s. These bikes were everywhere and maintenance consisted of adjusting the chain once in a while and an application of 3 in 1 oil from the kitchen drawer. I cannot recall anyone having an outright engine failure. We rode Japanese enduros which endured every kind of abuse we could throw at them. They always started and got us to where we were going. Day in and day out. I have resurrected numerous garage finds over the years and as we see here, with a little work and TLC, they run once again. I live in the province of Alberta and the climate here is very kind to old machinery. I still pull old bikes out of years of slumber and bring them back to life. Wonderful times back then and to a part of motorcycling.

You said that it was in your garage and that was a fair way away. Just saying

Thanks for the video. Question: In your video the results using the Harbor Freight Central Pneumatic 40lb soda blaster. I did some research, and that particular model requires 8.5 CFM @ 90 PSI. Two questions, 1. how big is your air compressor and what CFM does it produce? 2. What soda media and grit size did you use?
Your results are terrific so I'm wondering if my following research holds any water.
I thought I would share what I found looking for a solution to remove faded clear coat the former owner put on my newly acquired 1975 Honda CB360T engine side case, chrome wheels and front forks. 1. Most of these soda or sand blasters require CFM ranging from 6.0 - 20.0. Most air compressors don't produce nearly that much CFM. For example, almost all Harbor Freight air compressors won't work with the same soda blasters they sell. Also, I'm told that the media used has to be somewhere between 50-300 grit to work.

    • @motorcyclerewind
      @motorcyclerewind  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

The compressor I am using is from Harbor Freight McGraw 21 gallon. 175 PSI 4.0 SCFM @ 90 PSI. As far as the media I use. It’s the soda from Harbor Freight. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

Had to watch 360 video, I know quite a lot about them.
That was a real bargain, particularly with a decent stock exhaust system, the seats in that condition were selling for $200 in early 2000's
It's a CL tank not a CB, ( got any more of them?).
I've had to pay more than that many times, never had one that cheap (I like them, more my era, I'm kinda the unofficial world expert on engine mods to make them more reliable)
Plates are stuck, should break free with some heat and a 'bump', usually bit of rust in a few places, weres off as soon as it's working and will be fine (OEM Honda plates are great, clutch springs, nope, will need changing)
45 yr old tyres are not the greatest, they were pretty crap in 1974.
Tach is probably rusted spring internally, runs slow even if you fix it.
Soda blaster is great for carbs, zinc die cast comes up good. Wet soda blasting makes them come up like new (I've seen them but haven't got one)
    Are you using blasting soda?
If you or anyone with older Honda twin want's to know more about modifications for reliability or pretty much anything, you should check out Vintage Honda Twins, it is 'better' than the old Honda twins and doesn't have all the nagging for notifications.
