I just tried it and what I did was open the design I wanted to use in Canva (or whatever you use) and increased the saturation and vibrance of the colours and it worked! The colours were not at all washed out.
I just purchased some locally in South Africa and instructions are to spray a coat lightly (the lady actually showed me by spritzing it in the air like two times) and let dry well. Put picture on and once done give another light coat and let dry again. I have done my first coating and tomorrow will do the sublimation part. Hold thumbs🙏
I used this on a shirt about 4 months ago and the design looked good but it does fade wash after wash. But if you are only doing it for a shirt you will only wear a few times each year I think this is great!!
Hey Doreen! Thank you for sharing! Do you have any photos of your project? We would love to see them! You can share them in the Facebook group here: facebook.com/groups/1930716583871665
Hey Maria! So far so good after a few washes! I agree, the Spooky was more vibrant than the Boo, but that could have been just the colors the designer used.
I use similar sprays. Shaking is a must, I use a little more spray & use a roller to get the spray into the fabric instead of it sitting on top of the fabric.
Hey Mandy! That is a great tip! Thank you for sharing! We appreciate everyone sharing their experiences with the spray and it helps everyone in our amazing crafting community.
i use the roller technique also, make sure every fabric of the shirt is coated, let it dry then spray a second time it after the print dries again from the reverse side.
I have used this and it does work, but I recommend on something that doesn't get washed as often. like maybe a canvas totebag. It will fade alot over time, but still good if you are just making some quick shirts that will only be worn a couple times 😉
Should the shirts be washed in cold water or just how I normally do my laundry. I used the spray last week for the first time on a 100% cotton shirt and I love it!
Very nice tutorial. I don't think I will ever use that spray. I just did some 100% cotton shirts for my grandkids using the clear sublimation HTV and they all came out perfect and vibrant. Tfs and God Bless 🥰 💜

I did purchase this product and have not used it yet. I think playing around with the temperature. Leave it on longer. It looks like too much sublimation ink was still on the sublimation paper. Thanks again for a great tutorial. Brenda
Hey Judy! We can certainly use the clam shell heat press in future videos, but much of our customer base shared they were Cricut users, so we tent to use those products. Do you have both? Which type of heat press do you prefer to use? 😊
Hi Judy! Thank you for sharing! We are always open to try different products for our projects and can most definitely consider this for future videos :)
Unless my eyes are deceiving me, it appears you have a larger heat press on your counter. May I ask why you used the Cricut instead? Chances are the larger heat press would apply the heat more evenly.
@@DesignBundles I see now, makes a lot of sense. I am new to this, so this is why I wanted to know. I was thinking that maybe using less heat would be better. Besides, that heat press you have in the back can be a bit heavy to lift. :)
I was checking this out on Amazon. There are some good reviews but there are some that say it washed right out, also some that say its not meant for darker colors. Have you washed anything and is it holding up. What is your opinion on this since its been a couple of months. I value your opinion.
Judy the shirts I did held up great I lost a little color on one in the wash. It’s definitely a learning curve of how much to spray. You want to stick with light colors and my only complaint was it did clog quickly we used it live awhile back and I struggled to get it to spray
I have used sublimation spray several times on cotton shirts. I have never had them come out looking sharp. I think 100% polyester is the best. Of course if you like the vintage look then this is the way to go.
Hey Lesley! We are going to test a few different options to see what brings out the best end result. Do you have any tips for sublimating on cotton? Have you tried before?
O, Crystal 🔮! There are so many cute designs at Design Bundles, I can't buy all that I like! So glad they offer some freebies (having issue with download link, guess I'm not holding my mouth right.)
Hey Joy! Thank you so much, we're happy to hear you love the designs so much. If you can, write in to mail@designbundles.net and we can help you get the freebies downloaded! 😊
Good tip! On the Amazon page, it advertises that it dries out very quickly and allows you to start sublimating in minutes. We'll have to try that the next time around!
Hi Lisa! You can! We haven't had issues with the ink going through to the other side of the shirt but it's definitely an extra step worth taking especially if you are making something to sell! - Dawn 🥰
Hi April! If you are using a 100% polyester, the colors will be brighter, but also be mindful of the colors as well! They aren't going to appear brighter than they are in the design. 😊
Hey there! We aren't sure if it's the same as the one you are referencing, but you can find the one featured in the video here: amzn.to/3SEWjzm Did you try a similar spray? What did you think? We would love to hear your feedback!
Hey Karen! Yes, we agree! We'll try a higher temp next time and another viewer suggested letting the spray dry a little longer. I just love how helpful this community is! 😊
Hey there! Our apologies!!! I hope it didn't take away from the tutorial. Have you tried sublimation spray before? What is your experience with it? We'd love to hear your feedback 😊

then spray it a third time after the printing to seal it in!
I used this on a shirt about 4 months ago and the design looked good but it does fade wash after wash. But if you are only doing it for a shirt you will only wear a few times each year I think this is great!!
Hey Diana! Thank you for the feedback, it will definitely help the customers make a decision about whether the spray is a good fit for their project.
YOu have to spray two or three times then a 4th time after the printing. it ends up being about 3$ a shirt expensive,
That spray is awesome, it works great. I was so skeptical at first when I first tried it on the 100% cotton. It works amazing on poly cotton also.

The spooky definitely looked more vibrant. Interested in the look after a couple washes. Thanks for sharing!

I'd love to have you do a follow up after many washings in a few weeks too. This is a game changer!

@@DesignBundles and now?
I wonder if it would improve the color transfer on low polyester content fabrics, like a 50/50.

Does the design crack after washing and drying using this product?
Would you use the big heat press with same temperature?❤
I want to know what kind of keyboard are you using. Super cool
And would you recommend the spray? And what’s it called?
Crystal why don’t you use the heat press behind you for these larger designs?

Love the videos. Thank you so very much! So what do you prefer for cotton shirts? The sublimation spray vs powder w DTF? thanks
Crystal uses the powder over the spray as the spray leaves a tacky feel! -Dawn
How was the wash test
I have used sublimation spray several times on cotton shirts. I have never had them come out looking sharp. I think 100% polyester is the best. Of course if you like the vintage look then this is the way to go.
Good point! I noticed it depends on how much you spray on and it can depend on the brand too :)
I would have like to see you using a higher temperature to see if that made a difference.

Awesome! Can you tell me how you print your design so large?

Looks like if you go a little longer with the press it would come out more color.
Hey Deana! We are definitely going to test that in our next round of sublimation spray tutorials!
Can we do sublimation on 100 cotton in dark color
It is coming ;)
Will it brighten the colors so they aren’t faded when using lower polyester counts?
Hi April! If you are using a 100% polyester, the colors will be brighter, but also be mindful of the colors as well! They aren't going to appear brighter than they are in the design. 😊
This is my question as well
Is this the same stuff they were selling on Etsy for a while

Maybe pump up the temperature closer to 400
Hey Karen! Yes, we agree! We'll try a higher temp next time and another viewer suggested letting the spray dry a little longer. I just love how helpful this community is! 😊
I think if you used an actual heat press it might have turned out a little bit better.
I agree, not nearly enough pressure applied.
Hi Jeanette! Thank you for the feedback. We'll try it with the heat press our next time around.
Maybe it needs more time when you use the spray
That's a great thought, Marlene! I'll have to try that on the next one. I was thinking maybe a warmer temperature as well!
Why the tape?
Hi Atina! The tape is used to hold the design in place so there isn't any ghosting - Dawn 🙂
