If it cuts out and I'm trully in the middle of nowhere, the only option is to fix it until it works again, which is why I carry tools, spare parts and the workshop manual in my tablet if the eventuallity were to arise, as I would do in any make of car that I might take bush. I've rebuilt the 4.7 on my previous Jeep, in a car park with no shelter and minimal tools, so I think I'll be fine mate. Any car will fail if it is not maintained properly, regardless of how in love with a brand name you are
Thanks mate! The WJ's are an awesome car, very comfortable and capable, just a little thirsty in the v8! I'll be doing some more camping etc over Christmas, so I'll be sure to upload some more early next year!
Yeah, mines actually a WG as well, as I keep forgetting. Austrian assembled RHD Overland HO 4.7. Love it. Getting a bit battered now, but I have heaps of panel parts. Just need to sort the worn, especially rear, suspension.
Nice trade in there! The Aus Jamboree has previously been a bi-annual event with Jeep clubs from around Australia stepping up to host the event as the years roll on. As far as I am aware, no club has yet stepped up to take on the challenge that is organising the event for '14. ('12 was a big event, over 350 vehicles, 700+ people all camped out together over 5 nights, plus 10 different trips running each day, needing designated trip leaders, needless to say Sydney Jeep Club did an amazing job!)
Just amazing.... I was thinking of getting a WJ... Now I'll defently get one!!! AWESOME VIDEO!!!! AND BEAUTIFULL WJ!!! Cant' wait you load up some more videos!
Thanks mate! Reading your build thread right now! Nope, no magic switches installed on mine! Quadradrive all round!! I think I just needed a little more smooth momentum at 3:07! Your quadradrive appears to work a little better than mine, I need to replace the seals in the diff that make it work, as they take a while to lock and the pressure bleeds down quickly.
Always carry brake cleaner or butane...A couple shots in the tire and ignite it will pop it back onto the bead. I never hit the trail with out a can....And an onboard compressor!...Awesome trails and good driving though! Post more vids of the WJ!!
I am glad to hear that. Have us join you on your tripo by youtube!!!! By the way, is this a 4" critical path lift? And what size of tires do you use? 35"??? I tried to find your build up in AJOR but didn't have much luck... could you give the link? Take it easy but take it ;-))
Great video mate, good to see the WJ used as she was intended to. Did you flick the "magic switch" at 3:07 for the air locker hahaha. I have a similar set up on my dub - on the other side of the ditch though. Keep the vids coming!
Put the link in the video description for you :) Yes, it's the 4" critical path lift at the moment, however I'm considering moving to claytons long arms for the front, as I've started finding a few negative things regarding the fact that the IRO kit has a weak point in that it relies heavily on the one 10mm bolt on top of the diff a the top of the "Iron Y" set up, and they have been known to break in the past. Running 33's (285/75 r16) Haha, I like that "Take it easy but take it"
im trying to fix my WJ and get it ready for some off roading. but i dont know the first thing about jeeps or swapping v8 heads. i do have some video's on my jeep. if anyone wants to have a look but i dont have many and they are not great but im only JUST starting this hole youtube thing
Ah, that sound is the front left tyre rubbing on the inside of the wheel well. I hadn't finalised bump stops properly at that stage, so you can hear each tread lug catching each time.
Hey mate.... I got my WJ and I am getting ready for the lift. I am thinking to go with with IRO.... Did you use the "WJ HIGH CLEARANCE Critical Path Long Arm Upgrade" for your set up???
I'm at 32s and 4 inch la but I want 35s and 6.5 for sure..what gears ya running with 35s. I'm thinking 4.88 for extra grunt with my 4.0? and thank u for the info.
Francis Liuzzo I'm on 4.56 with the 35's and they are pretty much perfect, I sit on about 1850rpm doing 100km/hr which is about the same as stock from memory
Nah, it's an auto. They never came out with a manual option! But yes, back then I only had the standard vari-lok diffs, not true lockers. Driveline's never had an issue anyway :)
what will you do when it cuts out and won't start and you are in the middle of nowhere? I work on the things and believe me they do just that - for reasons you can't find out until you get it to a dealership - I think you have a problem.

The time laps at the end is Amazing!! Great video
Thanks mate!

Awesome video mate. Love the Grands. They showed good presence and capabilities at the Jambo. Subscribed!
Now thats what I call "learning how to get traction without lockers" once semester that you can get lockers. excellent job dude.
WJ v8s are awesome! Followed your build on Ajor, glad you got it together in the end, its a real sweet Jeep you have!!

Great work! Wish I could have made this year. Sounds awesome. Looking forward to setting up my WG and giving the CJ a rest.
Sick footage.

bad ass puddle hopping and the 4.7 sounds sick!!:)
Geat video makes me want to go on an Adventure. I'm a yank as I'm from Connecticut USA looks like you had a blast
Thanks mate! Reading your build thread right now!

We just bought an 04 4.7 WJ and this vid is awesome. Gunna go check out your build thread now.
Nice video! The time laps at the end is epic.
Love the WJ
Actually, I just used an angle grinder with a cutting disc on it, and tidied up the melted plastic in places with a sharp knife
That was 4lo 1st gear and tyres were between 12 and 14psi. I still had stock ratios in the diffs though, so it wasn't as low as it could've been.
Always carry brake cleaner or butane...A couple shots in the tire and ignite it will pop it back onto the bead. I never hit the trail with out a can....And an onboard compressor!...Awesome trails and good driving though! Post more vids of the WJ!!
MAD suspension articulation.
Love the WK, but not the IRS on the front...
Thanks Jeeper from Australia
FANTASTIC Video V8 !!! at 6.55 GREAT MOMENT with manual ;-) too fun
Haha, thanks mate!! Yeah, I was being a bit of a smarty pants there hehe!
Thanks, I'm gonna have to give that a try. I really like how it looks.
I am glad to hear that. Have us join you on your tripo by youtube!!!!

Nope, it was hosted in and around Rydal, NSW
Hello,
at minute 1:25 you can hear a noise, my Grand Cherokee makes a noise like; is it the t-case chain jumping?
The only noise I can hear at that point are the car keys swinging around and hitting the dash as we went through the river.
Ok, thank you :-)
MrMarioBros 11:25 non 1:25 ;-)
Ah, that sound is the front left tyre rubbing on the inside of the wheel well. I hadn't finalised bump stops properly at that stage, so you can hear each tread lug catching each time.
wow awesome jeep.
what lift do u have??
Hey mate.... I got my WJ and I am getting ready for the lift.
I am thinking to go with with IRO.... Did you use the "WJ HIGH CLEARANCE Critical Path Long Arm Upgrade" for your set up???
Sweet WJ! What did you use to trim the front bumper? I want to do the same bumper cut on my 04 WJ
great video
2:22 would 4-lo and airing down your tires work?

Why not try a Bronco - never been beaten - and reliable
i wondered why the driving was so crazy... v8 manual with no lockers! better u than me. 4l auto with lockers is so much easier on the drive line.
Nah, it's an auto. They never came out with a manual option! But yes,
back then I only had the standard vari-lok diffs, not true lockers.
Driveline's never had an issue anyway :)
hello v8jofes ! what is your Marvelous sound of V8 exhaust model ? :-) Owner GC 4L WJ Regards from France
Thanks again! Yeah, it's the 4.7L V8 with hurricane headers, high-flow catalytic converter, and straight through 2.5" muffler :)
thankz!!!!
Iron Rock Offroad 4 inch lift.

Nice WJ man!
.... ya know aside from the steering wheel on the wrong side :P
But it's literally on the right side :3
what size tires on the wj?
Francis Liuzzo 33's back then, have upgraded to 35's now :)
Lots of angle of attack to learn on here...
could even be better if the transfer case chain wasnt slipping.
Couldn't go to the Jambo in a Bronco
Speed shows inexperience
Zero skill. No finess.
