  • The boys face a gruelling 5+ hour ascent and descent on a rutted out old track to reach an ancient plain in the remote Northern Territory on their way to Madjellindi Valley. The scenery is spectacular and the journey is well worth it, with wild brumbies, snakes, crocs, rocky hills and endless plains along the way. Adventure doesn’t get any better than this!

Love that you are able to do this. How do you get access? With funding supposedly cut so far Australia wide all parks and forests are having to locked up. For example, in region I live in, we no longer have any 4wd, camping areas left, all be locked by DPI, parks and TO's. And its been all done by, a death of a thousand cuts method, slowly and incrementaly. It starts as one or two roads temporarily blocked and sign posted as closed, usually by piles of dirt or tree stumps uprooted and placed over tracks, with websites stating temporary closures due to track maintenance, then a few more entry points have this happen 6months later whilst in mean time original road closures are cleared and open only to find 200m down track solid steel gates and cable fencing stretching out into bush, its a slow sneaky incremental closure until, the Whole parks are completely locked and website information about "repairs" have disappeared and replaced by notices that the areas are being preserved for future generations.
How do we stop this, im know 5hours drive from the nearest opportunity to get off the tourist haunts of caravan parks, hotels and footpaths to explore and appreciate nature and camp in this beautiful country of ours, and surrounded by 15 national parks, state forests and crown/TO land, And the whole time ticking over in my head full of anger angst and frustration is, future generations? These areas become inaccessible, over grown to the point we have the 2019 bush fires all over again, which was mostly to blame due to parks government funding cuts and areas being locked off and not maintained. Not to mention it takes a Krakatoa to blow again, an Astroid impact or another iceage, that we are way over due for! to ruin the whole planets bio sphere, the climate is always changing and wont be the same in 100 years, just look at the greenland ice cores, our last mini ice age only ended 200 years ago and when the warming trend started again, we are now at a stage where over millions of years an ice age started again, usually by volcano or asteroid impact. so let's enjoy it now, appreciate it now and manage it, respect it and be apart of it now! Do you wonder why NASA is experimenting with asteroid explosions recently to change trajectory of them? We have a finite time to enjoy and respect this land now, why deny it when it's all destroyed in a blink of an eye by forces we have no control over. It's mental to think locking gates is going to achieve saving it for future generations.
Manage, respect and enjoy, live in the now.
