Nano-LR (Long Range) is the class of these sub-250 quads. ;)
Rekon do state they've added a voltage booster to ensure the Vista has good steady voltage throughout full flight battery voltage. Without this voltage booster, you'd definitely have video blackouts below 3V. (might even be 3.2V without)
Like the work Rekon is doing to innovate quad builds. Hopefully this means we see more 2s AIO FC's and related components later in 2022. Some more frame designs in this class would be nice too.
Would be fun to see a follow-on video, flying with 3000, or 3500 mAh cells (on warmer day). Hopefully you see some warmer / dryer weather.

Hi Justin. Great video and review of the Recon35. I just don't know if I would like to fly with 18650 batteries, I have a Explorer and I never had long flights, , unfortunately it died and I haven't had a chance to fix it yet. But thanks again for the video and information.
There is a small 9v step-up regulator board on the vista power line coming from the batteries. Pretty much the same as the VTX was powered on the NanoLongRange (see Thingniverse) with a 5V step-up regulator to keep it from resetting when the voltage of the single 18650 was dropping down ... So pretty much the same idea here with the vista but 2s and 9v regulator. If someone can get a picture of that little 9v board that would be great as I am curious to know what board they used. Thanks. I have an analogue Rekon35 ELRS built in connected to a Jumper T Lite. All good even arming works. Just can't seem to get the link quality to display on the OSD (it always says zero with the flashing warning). Where did I go wrong in Betaflight?
I'm buying the analog ELRS version. Any recommendation on an inexpensive controller that would be appropriate for it?

How can we increase the flight time?
I fly the flyfox nano 3 single 18650 quad on the ohmlife 18650 cells and I'm getting about 8-10 minutes. If you want a good 18650 get the Sony vtc-6, I used to vape those rediculous big cloud machines back in the day and the Sony vtc batteries were always and still are the highest current draw/capacity batteries I've used

My Rekon 35 HD PnP arrived with a long, unattached cable dangling out the back. The GPS is connected, so what the hell is this cable for? No mention in the manual or anywhere online!

1) can I use/install a RadioLink R8EF receiver and connect using sbus?
2) can I use any FPV goggles (e.g. 5.8G FPV) as long as they are for analogue tx/rx?

ive been watching yur content for a good bit now but havent seen EVERY video u make but are you versed in li-ion for fpv? I just got my first fpv setup recently with a protek 35 and dji setup but have been in eSkate scene for years and building batteries so that was my first fpv mission to build a few li-ion packs instead of buying tons of lipos.. but the molicels are high output and decent capacity for an 18650, and 21700s overall can push a lil more amp out put (and capacity but the added weight). tried checking the eachine cells for spec but didnt see any amp data... anyways seems like im rambling but just trying to see if/what middle ground there is for liion cells and flying in the freestyle lane and not just long range. thanks and great vids man!
Hey ! Yes I’ve been flying li-ions for long range fpv for over 5 years.
Question answer : Yeah sorry I don’t think with the current amount of amp draw needed for quads that you can freestyle li-ions. It will just punish the battery and work for about 30 seconds.
No freestyle on a liIon pack man, not now probably never cause of power to weight ratio, even 4s packs weigh so much more than 4s lipos and the current draw just isn't there
@@dronecamps thanks, yeah, just got my first couple flights on the liion packs i built yesterday and def cruising packs... the sag is real and the rebound takes some time after punching the throttle, le sigh.... i guess im just used to eskate with so many cells in parallel theres that over head AND evne when we do hit the throttle hard on a board its not as frequent/consistent as flying a drone..interesting learning curve moment here ;) otherwise the longer flight time just cruising is nice tho so i just gotta use the right tool for the right flight!

Looks like a great flying cruiser, specially if you use batteries that can keep it in the air for fifteen minutes.
Wondering if the Caddx unit might be carrying a small CMOS battery on board to prevent it from blacking out or shutting down.

I picked up the analog version of the Rekon35. It has some pretty serious wobble and it's almost not flyable. Does anyone have a good tune?
Love this review, Rekon35 great quad with a terrible tune out of the box -- I have managed to tune, but with flashed with Bluejay and using Betaflight 4.3, but the first hint I will give, is swap out the props to "HQ Prop T3.5x2x3 Tri-Blade 3.5" Props", don't know why the original genfan probs have a heap of vibration and make the quad difficult to tune
@@cyberess1000thanks. I'll try those props. I have tried a 2 and 3 blade 3" prop with the same issues. My Rekon35 is on BF 4.3 and I've flashed Bluejay and tried both 24 and 48khz. It's definitely better after messing with it for hours.
I made one like that. it wound up too heavy so made it a 4s
surprised it doesnt have biblades. mine flew much better on 2 bladed props. had lots of propwash on 3blades.
