    Hi Lee Great video and review of the Recon 35, I have yet purchased a quad that uses the 18650 batteries, I figured it was to heavy to do anything. Now that we have two things would be better. And it sounds like it does. Thanks again for the video and information.

    Looks like there isn't a compass. Why don't they put a compass, only a minor increase in cost with much better capability. I think the only rekon with a compass may be the rekon7. Cheers.

    I do like this style of flying/drone. This seems a bit better of a design than the original for sure. I imagine the 30G lighter analog version would fly even better. Looks like you could hdzero in at least the digital frame if not the analog. Thanks for reviewing!

    It makes more sense as a 2s set up and the flight time is not to bad either. I wish they would fit a compass then you have the choice of inav etc and use the spare uart, I know its easy enough to add a compass and gps to the spare uart but it would be nice to have the choice. Stay safe Lee

    Been waiting for the reviews to come out about this quad. I think its perfect for a particular niche. Just wanted to find out about flight characteristics in wind and motor power. But throttle percentage at hover seems adequate. I'm planning on picking one up for a 'everyday carry' as the 18650's won't need to be nursed in and out of storage and can be charged from a power brick. Also it might be ideal for my trip to Jamaica in a few months for a wedding.

    DC 9V "power module"? What's that? Backup power with a separate small lipo? Also, at 5:45: GPS on soft serial 1, "means not going to be able to run iNav" - why is that? No input for compass or barometer? Thanks Lee. EDIT: Is the "power module" a voltage regulator?

    Wouldn't 4" bi-blade props on 1404 (or even 1603) be more efficient than 1303.5 with 3-blade props? I've seen some guys flying 25+mins on 2S 18650 with 4"...

    • @chrisbee5481
      @chrisbee5481 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      4 inch need bigger motors like 1404 or 1603. With 1303.5 its made as light as possible. They could swing 4 inch, but probably not perform well. Going up to 4 inch and with 1404 motors, wo will need a slightly bigger, more durable frame, which weighs more. So you see its a snowball system with weight

    • @DaveCFPV
      @DaveCFPV 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      4" 2S is just much more difficult to get sub 250. With a small action cam its basically impossible. All flight time gains through larger disc area are also pretty much lost due to extra weight unless the motors are so small it fly's horribly. It's the same with all quads I tested; keeping battery size constant, an increase in disc area doesn't increase flight time unless you also keep the weight pretty much constant by using small motors, which in turn ruins the flight feeling

    Painless360 great review again. I hope more and more people become aware of your channel and your subs continue to climb. You put out some great content. Learned alot from your channel. I was wondering if you'd be willing to make a video on using elrs receivers in fixed wings without the use of FC boards. How to use products like the matek crsf to pwm boards and other options and I'd also love to know if it's possible to connect elrs receiver to Kopilot lite using crsf protocol. Not alot of info out there on newer elrs stuff for use in fixed wings. Thanks again

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Be aware that ELRS only has 4 full resolution channels at the moment so will support only simple fixed wings. CRSF to PWM adapters will work the same was as on Crossfire or Tracer and there should be more content for those systems on the setup. Matek sell a PWM reciever for ELRS that is a great idea for fixed wing. Finally, Kopilot only understands PWM or SBUS so you can't use the CRSF protocol with it. SBUS support out of of the ELRS is something that a lot of people have asked for... Happy flying!

      You'll need a low baud rate GPS unit running this soft serial config. I replaced it with the Flywoo GM8 v2.0 GPS which supports baud rates all the way down to 9600bps. At that rate it works flawlessly. Plug is the same but wiring needs remapping.

      @DaveCFPV 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's true that 18650s don't always offer longer flight times. They are however pretty convenient and and have some advantages for long range flying. Discharge behaviour is more linear and they don't tent to have a sudden voltage collapse below 3,3V like lipos do. Basically you can still "limp home" between 3 and 2.5V when you push it too far while a Lipo powered quad basically drops out of the sky at some point
