Dewie, you don’t have to be so apologetic all the time. You put out good quality videos, despite poor conditions that are out of your control. Most of us can only wheel on the weekends, and we are forced to take the weather we are given. So, this experience is true to life. Keep up the good work.
Your footage is awesome and exciting with the snow. It's bad ___. Nothing to apologize over. Makes me wantto go to Colorado and 4 wheel! Think of how rare, how privileged to be able to be there in such a unique place.
My son, grandson and I were there in June 2023. Snow was deep in some areas. Love you video, reminded me of our trip. We did Engineer Pass and Cinnamon Pass. Beautiful country. Thanks for the memories.
What a amazing place. I did engineer pass few years back but I start the trail from ouray. I camp there around 8000 feet and my wife and I we get in a big storm, and exactly like you, no visibility and tons of snow. We love the trail and hopefully we will back there soon. Nice video, and will see you in the next one.
I did Cinnamon Pass from Lake City just after it opened back in May of 2023. It was so newly opened they hadn't change the sign where you get on the road to Cinnamon Pass in Lake City! The walls of snow were incredible back when we did it and there was still knee deep snow drifts in Animas Forks! I was bummed we couldn't do Engineer Pass at the time but it was nice to live vicariously thorough your video.
You have the best trail guide videos on TH-cam, hands down. You deserve many many times the amount of subscribers you have. Hopefully your channel explodes in the near future.
I truly appreciate that! Thank you! It’d be awesome to have more subs and views, but I try not to think of that and instead focus on making these better videos.
Neat video, I agree that sometimes challenging weather makes for an exciting time, and it was funny to have a "shout out" to Florida, it's a different type of world but has value. It's beautiful and challenging in its own way! Looking forward to the next one.
I like videos like this. Most vids on YT are rockcrawling or deep mud that most people wouldn't be able to do. No need to apologize becaue of the weather, it's out of your control.
Awesome video. Your a blessed man for having that offroad playground to drive too. I own a jeep Patriot which is good enough for most offroad trails here in SE TN. One day i will own a Wrangler!!!
It’s still in the shop, but it’ll be my main filming vehicle. I did just buy a less capable vehicle that’s here in GJ tho. I’ll start filming with that once I can get back to GJ to pick it up.
So sorry I missed the live premier. Great video and narration. I'll be in Ouray starting July 16th and hoping more trails open up. Love your channel Dewie!
Cool Video! We will arrive in Ouray on the 16th. Just curious where that water crossing is near the end of the video? I don't remember seeing that last time I was out there.
It’s that one in the mining area I showed while raining on the way up (with the note I’ll do it next time I’m there). You won’t miss it… that shot with the mining note will take you to it.
@@coloradomallcrawlers It rained nearly ever day.. lol. Took my dad to moab for a few days to show him around, early in the morning the temps were good but later in the day it was Hot.
That’d be awesome… but unfortunately my work is tossing me all around and I’m now in Denver (we’ll Idaho springs right now). My goal is to get back to GJ, but since I’ve been promoted to locomotive engineer, I’ve lost all the seniority I had as a railroad conductor. I’m at the bottom of the barrel right now meaning I’m at the mercy of my employer again. Have a great time!
More awesome videos, thank you. Just curious, did you do the wet nasty sections in 4 hi with rear locker engaged? no issues? i have a stock 2023 JLUR and id like to be able to use "3 wheel drive" when i can off road. Thanks Dewie
I did not use lockers on engineer in 2021 or for this video. I traditionally use lockers in 4wheel low for especially tricky obstacles (like on mount Blanca or holy cross). Lockers aren’t needed for trails like this… I had no slippage.
As I'm watching the vid and you're driving through places that were clearly under a lot of snow, I was asking myself who the eff is plowing this road during the winter?😂
Lol, it’s Baja yellow or hella yella. It’s offered often. Dozer (my JK’s color) was a rare color altho nacho was very similar. I missed ordering nacho. This yellow is similar to what I consider my first Jeep, a 2000 TJ sport in solar yellow.
It’s all good… I just want it back! Did buy a new old Jeep against my better judgement yesterday. It’s not as cool as the liberty, but it’s sentimental to me so I’m excited for it.
It depends. 4 high should be alright, but it’s at high elevation so your engine may struggle without the low gearing. I guess it is hard to say for sure, probably just depends on your vehicle… if it’s a trail rated AWD or 4 High only vehicle, you should be ok. Good luck!
@@coloradomallcrawlers Oh I have a 2 door wrangler with the 2.0 L turbo. Hard to see how steep it is with just a camera angle. I have never done any high altitude trails in Colorado yet. Hopefully one day soon!
Road didn’t look too bad, a little wet but nothing the rubicon couldn’t handle. I have a rubicon also and under those conditions I wouldn’t even put it in 4x4.
Dewie! I have a 2021 Chevy Trailboss (currently still stock). Would love to learn from you and help provide content if you want addition vehicles to support your trail videos. Let me know!

THANKS DEWIE !!!!! One of MY favorite passes ... The Alpine loop is just INCREDIBLE...
I hope to make a awesome one on the alpine loop!

Don't beat yourself up. I was there last year and that snow was a whole new experience for me. That was epic.
Thanks! Appreciate it!
Fantastic video, Dewie! Can’t wait for you to return and also do the Alpine Loop!
I think it’ll be fun… just gotta get the time off now.

You got some great shots Dewie! 👍
The video was perfect. Not too long, not too short. And show what Engineer Pass looks like on opening day.

I hope ya bring that Liberty out again. Was really cool seeing a lesser appreciated Jeep getting some love.

Soo cool! Sad about the trail not being done yet, but still pretty cool to see it so early season!

Nice job Dewie! Safety is always first, specially when you travel alone. Can't wait for the next one.
Absolutely!
I went in July last year. Late July is the perfect time to go...
Absolutely!
You guys are awesome! Love reading your messages… I’ll respond individually once I have service again. Got to find camp now!
Greqt video man, bear was very cool, and yeah, lots of snow lol.
Lol, yeah, I want to get a close up of one in the future ha.
I'm actually surprised to learn they plow those passes. I would have guessed for sure they just waited for them to melt!
It’s pretty wild for sure!

Hope you enjoy it!
Cool video - those are some big snow drifts up there!
Absolutely!
Great video! Love seeing the weather. You do really cool edits with the maps and trail trace overlays. Keep up the amazing work.
Thank you so much! I loved it in Indiana Jones videos when I was younger and thought it’d be useful to include in a trail guide.
Another great video, I can't wait to visit Colorado and hit some trails.
Thank you! You’ll have so much fun!
darn the luck, I was out there in Colorado Springs visiting when you made this run. I even had the bronco with me.
I bet springs was fun tho!

Glad you like them!
I'd love that experience! Awesome, thanks!
It was fun for sure!
Filmed on my bday homie! I need to head that way before it’s closed
Awesome! You definitely should!
You fit a pretty cool channel man keep it up. Im in colorado also, so... It's cool to see what's around me! Thank u for doing it.
Thanks! Will do!
We made it over on June 28th. It was just freshly cleard.
Very cool!
I will be up there the week of the 17th of July would love to meet you with my mostly stock 4runner

Definitely not Mall Crawling, the name needs a refresh. Good content
The name is funny… we’ve been called mallcrawlers simply due to us wheeling stock or suv based vehicles. We are gonna stick with it, but thanks!
Great video despite the clouds train driver. How did you get a jeep in UP yellow?

You ever going to finish the KJ? Started watching because my kid has a KK. He does trails in PA with his.
Of course! How am I going to do the alpine loop with it if I don’t? It’s in the shop still… my dad is trying to get an eta.

Going to Lake City in the fall!
Heck yeah!
Looks really cool with that weather. Does this road require 4L all the time or can you use 4H for a big chunk of it?
It depends. 4 high should be alright, but it’s at high elevation so your engine may struggle without the low gearing. I guess it is hard to say for sure, probably just depends on your vehicle… if it’s a trail rated AWD or 4 High only vehicle, you should be ok. Good luck!

You’ll be fine. I’d use low if you’re having to give it excessive throttle. If it’s a non rubicon, command trac 4wd low is perfect for this trail.
Road didn’t look too bad, a little wet but nothing the rubicon couldn’t handle. I have a rubicon also and under those conditions I wouldn’t even put it in 4x4.
That’d be a mistake, but you do you.
Great video

I'll be there tomorrow! Looking for people to wheel with I'm in a 2dr Wrangler Rubicon on 33s
Have a great time!

Mosquito Pass

what day is the opening day for future reference?
It varies every year. The day after this was shot was this year’s opening day.
Real world video is good.
That’s what we aim for!
And 1st comment!! 🎉
Go to work. 😅
I’m trying… they assigned us to a turn instead of first in, first out 🙄😂
Im the 1st like. 🎉😅
@nazgul_renegade and I did this in a rainstorm that blew in. I can only imagine how much more fun in the snow this would be.
I bet that was fun tho! Yeah, rain & snow definitely makes things more exciting!
