⬇How does Law ultimately end up curing himself of this Lead disease?⬇ How does it shape his Decisions, alliances and ultimate goals in the ONE PIECE world?
While I can't properly explain as a doctor since I don't have the overall medical knowledge, I can say that his fruit allows him to utilize every practice and field of operation on the human body and/or environment. Meaning that he could remove a terminal disease from his body in an instant if possible, even though removing it from your DNA would require you to examine and understand thousands or millions of strands of code from your body. However, this fruit can only be wielded by top medical doctors since to use such a fruit, one must have grade-S knowledge in the field of medical science.
Interesting enough, one piece has mineral called seastone that can mimic effects of the sea and nullify devil fruit powers. And in some cases, seasalt can partly neutralize some powers like kill zombies same way as seawater would. Perhaps devil fruits weakness requires certain type of salt that that once covered, causes extreme exhaustion.
There actually is a Heal-Heal fruit in one piece already, it belongs to the Tontata princess Mancherrie and lets her heal most injuries (not diseases) with her tears! And if I remember correctly, Law was able to heal himself after eating the Op-Op fruit because he then could basically teleport all traces of the white lead out of his body (or rather switch their position with something else). In the law Novel which was not written by oda but approved, law operated on himself and removed the poison, then his devil fruit powers and higher healing rate did the rest
@@GabrieleZecchini02 yes it def is similar, but I think as Ivankov him(her)self says he doesn't actually heal or do anything of the sorts, he just equips your body with the means to fight. I don't think Ivankov (unless he friggin awakens his df lmao) would be able to recover say a lost limb. spoilers for impel down and marineford arc down here with poison it's a little different, so the white lead disease could also be one of those times his powers could work. He quite literally gave luffy the option to "fight" this poison out of him. He didn't heal him, the rest was up to the one he used his hormones on. Now I know it's luffy and it was stated there it was a miracle he got up so quickly and recovered, but Ivan only opened up the opportunity for this to happen. A good analogy would be for example that law or mancherrie jumps into the fight and saves you, whereas ivankov gives you a sword and tells you to deal with it yourself
Law's sister didn't die from the disease. Law went out of the house and his sister hid in the closet. When he returned the house was on fire and she didn't make it out of the closet. Law's backstory is one of the hardest ones in the series.
According to the Law light novels, a few days after eating the Op-Op fruit law secludes himself in a cave on a nearby island and would learn how to use his powers. Part of this was using his powers to literally rip the disease out of his body piece by piece. This process took roughly about a week and wasn't exactly painless either. It took a week because the "Room' needed for Law's power to work drains your stamina to create and maintain. The drain is also dependent on how big he makes the Room, ranging from a few feet to several dozen kilometers
I read this part in the novel several times but I didn't find anywhere that says it took a week. It look like an immediate operation before Law collapsed from exhaustion.
Law has one of the Saddest Backstories in the series which after his family was killed he escaped by hiding under dead bodies (this was cut from the anime) - There is a Heal Heal Fruit eaten by Mansherry which is a Paramecia Type that grants the user the ability to heal others by using the user’s body liquid with her using her tears or creating Dandelions (temporarily heals others) but it cost a bit of the user’s lifespan (good thing that she is a dwarf), but the user can use others like blood donors - The Op-Op (as in operation) Fruit is a Paramecia type that allows the user to make a bubble that acts as the operating room which he can control anything within in like cutting anything / body without killing or damage them, moving things around like telekinesis, scanning, exchanging various objects positions (this explains how he can teleport), & many more - Fun fact Law’s home Flevance is similar to the real life location of Casale Monferrato from Italy with both being nicknamed the "White City" & developed in an industry centered around the mining especially the use of toxic materials that being asbestos

His world building goes super deep and he enjoys drawing on real world allegories for a lot of his material in a exciting, interesting & often tragic way like with Law 💔
The exact reason for devil fruit users being unable to swim or move in water is that "the sea hates and rejects Devil Fruit users due to perceiving them as inhuman". it's all very weird stuff.
I thought the explanation was that "when you eat a Devil Fruit you make a contract with a 'devil' and in exchange for power you paralyzed in water". Similar explanation to why most don't eat more then one as well "when you eat two Devil Fruits the two Devils fight inside you and make you explode".
Not really the exact reason,as stated,those with elemental powers can control that element around others, meaning the only explanation is someone has a water water fruit,and that person is undoubtedly gonna be imu

The most we have regarding canon information comes from Vegapunk's theories on the nature of devil fruits in which he claims that they are manifestations of alternative realities which are rejected by nature as represented by the sea. All we know for sure is that seawater and sea prism stone saps the stamina of devil fruit users and seals their abilities. The exact mechanics behind why this is the case are still not entirely certain.
@@kylepessell1350 In addition the energy sapping seems to manifest as some sort of lethargy. Muscles seem to go limp, but powers aren't nullified (Luffy's body remaining rubber underwater). The user seems incredibly drowsy though not rendered unconscious. The strength of the effects can be adapted to to an extent and can vary based on concentration of sea prism stone & depth in water. Devil fruit users also seem to recover relatively quickly after exposure ends indicating it may be more like energy blocking than sapping.

Passive effects such as an altered body from various Paramecia and most Zoan types don't seem affected aside from paralysis while active effects such as Zoan shifting, Logia powers, and certain Paramecia abilities do seem blocked by more than just a lack of energy to use them.
I'm fairly sure that the depiction of Amber Lead disease and the destructive response to it draws loosely from things like the Turin asbestos mining disaster or the marginalization and violent harassment that victims of Minamata disease (also a manmade pollution/ poisoning disaster created by a Japanese company) faced from their neighbours for suffering and for trying to speak out about it while the government and media covered it up for decades
also the Op-Op fruit enables the user to perform unnatural surgeries that wouldn't be possible like keeping people's body parts separated but with nerves still connected, in a supplemental novel Law was essentially able to concentrate the substance in his liver and manually extract it over an extended period. It's not super clear what happened but essentially the powers are implied (if you understand the body and how substances accumulate in it well enough) to be able to do virtually anything a doctor might want to do or theoretically imagine like identifying and physically extracting narcotics from a person's bloodstream, which he did on Punk Hazard.
Oda has gone on record that none of his diseases are supposed to line up perfectly but that he takes inspiration from multiple sources and makes just enough not accurate that he doesn't marginalize people suffering, nor make their suffering feel less real. He's a chill mangaka, it's one of the many things he does to try not to make his readers feel like they're being looked down on.

The op op fruits full name is the operation operation fruit, his room is a surgeons room and in it he can basically act as a one man surgery team and can basically do anything that you could do in a surgeons room like perform amputations, use radiation, and I believe the teleportation is supposed to be like a transplant since he swaps the place of two things .
The Opi- Opi No Mi allows Law to remove any form of poison or bacteria that would be harmful to the body. He does something similar on Punk Hazard with all of the children that were experimented on. Him curing his Amber Lead Syndrome is him removing the poison from his body, and fixing his Lineage Factor (what One Piece calls DNA). This is likely related to the Eternal Youth Surgery that would sacrifice his own life to give someone else Eternal Youth. It's the reason Doflomingo wanted the Fruit, to live forever. The Heal- Heal Fruit also exists. The user can produce a liquid that can heal injuries. This power is inherent in their tears, so causing them to cry forces the power out. The user is also able to create a type of flower that's similar to a Dandelion. The fluff from it can be used to heal minor injuries, and temporarily heal major injuries. It can also fix inanimate objects, but the user will shorten their own life to do so. Likely because the Fruit requires the target to already be able to heal oneself. On the opposite end you have the Sick- Sick Fruit which allows you to create diseases. The first time the power is used it produced a disease that changed the infected person's sex to female. Since the name is Ma Lady, pun on Malady, it likely doesn't effect those with female biology.
8:56 I was diagnosed with a skin condition called vitiligo which causes similar white patches on my skin usually having to do with too high of an immune system which kills the pigment in the skin. If it spreads to an area that has a decent amount of hair such as the scalp, it will remove the hair color, bleaching spots of your hair white. This disease in the story may have similar symptoms to vitiligo plus a few symptoms of other real diseases combined into a deadly plague.

hey Doc! Oda already included a devil fruit that can do that. It's called the Chiyu Chiyu no mi, or heal heal fruit. It's owned by a Tontatta princess and it allows her to heal anyone's injuries with her tears. Also, the ability to manage pain and physical uneasiness is a part of another Devil fruit owned by Marco the Phoenix. His flames of rebirth allow him to temporarily heal people, himself and relieve stress.

Shock: Unkiller (An attack in which you do the opposite of giving them pain-killers and actually make them more sensitive to any type of pain) Death Pain: No Reaper (An attack in which you induce so many painkillers or such effect you temporarily put that status on someone in which they can't feel pain like those people who just get hit by cars and walk it off or burn their hands but don't know leading the victim to possible take lots of damage or fall without even feeling pain until the status is over). - That's a good theory even if it might not be fully right I could actually see it being partially right. So much about Devil fruits is hidden in mystery maybe the idea of being "Hated by the Sea" is just something spread so that the world government could make them more feared or was something spread in the past at some point and truth was never looked into rumors or superstitions given form for too long especially since Devil Fruit users are labelled as different things depending on the place and what they know like just Magic Users or something and thought to be cursed or given powers in different ways.
The Ope Ope no Mi Or Operation Fruit allows the creation of a "room" for "operation", in which the user, the doctor can decide how things work, like, if you pull the rash it come out of the body with whats causing it, but, there is a need of medical knowledge to define not only skin but organs, bones and the like, even down to the celulñar level
Here's a devil fruit idea (Dia-Dia No Mi) or (diagnose diagnose fruit) allows the user to accurately identify diseases, symptoms and hereditary features simply by interacting with the patient through at least one of the user's five senses

8:57 one reason their hair turned white over time could’ve been due to the stress that the white lead was putting onto their bodies, if im not wrong their hair turned white overtime and not instantly which is very possible because there is a medical condition that does this. it’s called Antoinette syndrome or something along the sorts in of which causes someone’s hair to turn white/grey overtime mainly from large amounts of trauma or a illness. (Idk it’s just my thoughts on why their hair turned white 😅)
The steel looking limbs is an entirely different power system called haki that is unrelated to the devil fruits. It’s basically an exertion of will power to make your self stronger and more aware, and in some rare cases able to exert your will over others. That’s an interesting guess though if you don’t know the power systems in the story! Great video :) was really entertaining and informative
btw doc, The World Government is pretty much an Oligarchy protecting a set of intelligent nobles who use lesser intelligent nobles as public figures. To the One Piece's civilians under the World Government they think 20 Kings united to fight an evil Kingdom and their descendants became those nobles. The more intelligent Ones command the different factions and choose which Islands are expendible or threats.
and also a bit of a spoiler, so spacing this a bit.. The 5 elders who actually manage the day to day WG stuff for said kings: actual demons, have pledge themselves to a secretive hidden king (despite that being treason to the WG), and actually gets enjoyment from doing evil stuff.
@@TerrisH20 It's more like they were hand picked long ago before and became desensitized to empathy and standard morals by given extended life and a lack of punishment by having managed the World for so long. Even younger soldiers who dont have clearance say they only saw them through portraits but if they realize the age of the portrait they are subject to instant execution. Its clear they had different ethics when they were chosen but by having diverse knowledge gives them a better grasp of what they control and no longer control and seek to reclaim.

If they forced others to perform it as a ritual to preserve conditioned leaders by Imu back before the 20 kingdom war where Imu couldve propogaded against the void kingdom he couldve easily picked people of varying races to gain insight and make them see Imu as a savior. While the elders destroy and make speeches about insects, Imu treats Insects delicately and that makes it clear that Imu knows the King holds all the power.

So the way that Law cured himself is actually genius, however it was only explained in a novel. What he did was just think of what a doctor would need to cure his disease and thought: if only he had a "operation room" and the power activated from there. After a bit of practice, of opening the room and seeing what medical equipment (like Scalpel) he could use. He had to open up his own body, section by section, and picking away the flakes of Amber lead in his blood stream and organs. Other techniques that Law can use inside his room: Offcourse *Scalpel/mes* - To extract organs from someone's body without cutting off the blood circulation. *Amputate* - In order to cut off limbs, without severing the blood circulation. So he can slice off someone's head without killing the guy. *Shambles* - To swap objects (or himself) with other objects. It's used alot as teleportation, where he swamps himself with snow or rocks to achieve high speed movement in the process. *Takt* - To adjust the operation room to his needs. *Radio knife / Gamma knife* - For low frequence wavelenghts strikes, as if they're getting electrocuted. Destroying internal organs. *Counter shock* - An electric charge that can be used like a Defibrilator. *Scan* - It's like an x-ray to find objects he desires. He used this to find all the communication devices the marines were carrying and teleport them with shambles, by swapping it with snow arround him. *Injection shot* - To manipulate his sword to the required length. Making Law able to tranfer other techniques, like the electric based attacks, from within the opponent's body. *Curtain* - A protective veil. There are also awakened techniques that allows him to open differend kind of Rooms. Like *K-room* to coat his sword with the ability to open rooms on a distance or *R-room* to make an noise cancelling room (Based on Rosinante's Calm-calm fruit). 19:30 The Heal-heal fruit does exist in the One piece world. However it does work a bit differend, it's more as a temporary block to the pain that people have (giving the people the strength to actually run with a broken leg, then actually curing them).
so law actually had to learn medicine. he also came from a medical background with his parents so thats how he already had groundwork laid. he still took another 10ish years to learn medicine
I have ITP laws character really gave me some confidence in my disease iv had it since I was 3. I can relate to law a lot in not having answers or a cure for a disease itp is so rare there's not a lot of medical options for me since only 1% of the human population has it....
Devil fruits actually do change the DNA of those who eat them. In a later arc the world's greatest scientist explains lineage factor" as an aspect of the DNA that changes after consumption
I wonder if we would get a twist of seeing Law's sister Lammy in the future. As far as I know, in One Piece at least, characters assumed dead sometimes aren't. I know it's a small hope, but I think Law deserves a bit of happiness for the crap he's suffered
The inability of devil fruit users to swim seems to involve a draining of strength when submerged in water. The more of them submerged, the more of a drain. Seastone is a material that is somehow able to replicate this effect to a greater extent and is often used to make restraints for devil fruit users. If you want to find a medical explanation, I would suggest considering some change to the permeability of the skin in regards to water that might cause it to possibly interfere with muscle use.
Not sure if its confirmed or not, but i'd say Law's fruit is able to perform miracle operations and treat diseases that are normally untreatable because he can bypass certain limitations that would be a a dead end for regular medicine. Law for instance is capable of severing body parts without damaging them all the while he prevents blood from exiting where he cuts open. If you would have for example a brain tumour that is inoperable due to its location, that wouldn't be a problem for Law. Stuff like blood loss, damaging the muscles, bones or nerves of any kind is a non existent problem for Law. This is however possible because Law is a doctor. His fruit doesn't work simply by him pointing towards and desiring the medical issue to get fixed, no, he himself needs to know of how the condition functions and must figure out how to treat it.
Current anime spoilers below (as in, this was explained in last week's episode), but the reasoning behind Devil Fruit abilities, including their inability to swim, has been fully explained. Each Devil Fruit represents a potential 'reality' that has been dreamed up by people of the past, and the person who eats the fruit becomes able to access that false 'reality.' Any coherent idea that has sufficient and long-lasting enough passion behind it can coalesce into a Devil Fruit that will allow the eater to live within that dreamed 'reality,' which gives them abilities that defy any traditional logical explanation but are internally consistent within the logic of that dreamed 'reality.' As to the 'can't swim' thing- the ocean in One Piece is effectively a world-spanning deity with a living will, and is the source of all life. It can sense when a Devil Fruit eater, which the ocean hates for defying the natural order it created, is submerged within itself, and it attacks them by stealing away their strength and stamina. Someone who's eaten a Devil Fruit can still swim in freshwater, and, as we've seen multiple times with strong-willed people like Luffy, can still tread water for a brief moment in ocean water if they're robust enough not to lose all their strength immediately; describing it as "losing the ability to swim" is simply easier to get the idea across than the more accurate "so long as the majority of their body is submerged in ocean water they lose access to their Devil Fruit powers, and they also quickly become heavily fatigued and lose consciousness."
So, I think i should mention that the "White Lead" does have a direct Real World comparison. White Lead Cosmetic's used in 16th-18th Century Europe. The effects of White Lead poisoning in Cosmetics of this era are horrific and apparently it was potent enough(Probably because your placing it on your skin for hours on end.), that just one exposure could cause skin-rashes and lead poisoning side-effects. Also, partially similar to the One Piece series version, your hair would begin to fall out.
it's not explained yet, but i think the going theory is that the main villain of the series has some sort of water-focused devil fruit, possibly a mythical sea god. they "Awakened" the fruit, which allows them to control their element in the environment and how it affects others, and forbid other Devil Fruit users from swimming. also that enemy is assumed to be immortal do to a previous user of the Ope Ope Fruit using it's special surgery.
This theory is over. Vegapunk already said that devil fruit users can't swim in sea because sea is the mother of nature and it rejects those who defy the laws of nature by having devil fruit powers
The snip snip fruit. It works like the chop chop fruit. With the snip snip you can make any size cut or insertion on a patient. It has surgical and battle application. When awakened, you can cut atoms and point particles in half. The devil fruit works on anything with in a half mile radius. So you could cut a shilp if half half a mile away from it. Youd have to be a professional surgeon for the fruit to be useful medically. Keep in mind im not a doctor or surgeon

I'm actually a little surprised by the fact that you don't understand how Law was able to use the power of the Ope Ope no Mi to heal his Amber Lead Disease. It is because of the spatial control he has with the fruit's "room" ability. Just like he can remove limbs or organs from a person within his "room" area of effect, he was able to use that ability to remove all of the amber lead from his own body. Undoubtedly this would have been a very slow process as he was new to his Devil Fruit powers, most likely starting with the vital organs and gradually working out from there until the substance was completely removed. As for what I would like to see you cover, if you read the manga of One Piece, then you will have recently learned about another in-universe disease called Sapphire Scale Disease. I'd love to hear your analysis of that one. (If you only watch the anime, it should probably reach that part of the story in the next year or so.) Oh, and the thing where some people seem to be able to harden their skin like steel isn't a Devil Fruit ability; it's a power called haki (specifically a type called armament haki) which allows them to focus their energy in order to strengthen their body against damage from attacks.
Can you make a video about choppers medicine balls? Not just the rumble balls but the ones he makes for sickness or internal injuries like when ne treated gon fall in sky island. I’m just really curious how that works and if that is/was a real life method for treating people

Accelerated healing- princess of dwarfs manshery - Heal Heal fruit Enhanced immune system - Strong enough Haki powers can fight off sicknesses created by Sick Sick fruit by creating in your body anibodies to diseases and even spreading them to others. (Yeah it's real thing in anime ep. 1093) Medical intuintion- One of Ope Ope fruit powers called "scan" Works similarly Pain management - okey there is no Devil Fruit that does that so you can have this😅😅
no, no, there technically is something for pain management, as Kuma managed Luffy's pain... by transferring it to Zoro. I don't remember Kuma's fruit though.
I think the devil fruit users can't swim because of something about the salt in the water. In the Thriller Bark arc Brook used salt to break Moria's devil fruit power over the "zombies".
I'm actually surprised you made that deduction about DFs affecting the cellular level. They kinda go into that with the newest arc that's happening right now, Egghead. Dr. Vegapunk's (this world's version of Albert Einstein and Leonardo DaVinci fused together) hypothesis is that Devil Fruits are created by the willpower and imagination of humankind (it's why we get ones like turning into fire, ice, animals or ones that do other weird stuff like turn into rubber) and the fruit effects your Lifeblood Elements, which is this worlds name for DNA. But because this is deemed not natural, Mother Nature despises you and prevents anything that ate the fruit to be swallowed up by the thing we all came out of; the sea. The Heal-Heal fruit already exists, and sadly it only allows people to be healed completely at the cost of the user's stamina. The user usually does this by crying but she's been known to create dandelion constructs from her body to sent out little puffs of energy to a lot more people quickly for sudden bursts of energy. She's also known to do a blood transfer if sorts, allowing willing participants to give some of their blood to create stronger dandelion puffs. The fruit you're thinking of could be a new DF like the Medi-Medi fruit or could even be a mythical Zoan fruit like a Human-Human Fruit: Model Asclepius cause yeah..."deities" exist here in OP so long as people created them in their hearts.

Also the people being turned to iron thing is just a separate power system this anime has called "Haki" which can be used both without a devil fruit power and in tandem with a devil fruit power. Those in the fandom often consider it better to be able to use haki without a double fruit cuz then.
I would love doc on call to talk about about the psychology of at least observation and conquer's haki would be actually pretty awesome though I'm not sure if that type of medicine is within your purview. What's the thought process of someone with conquer's haki outside I'm just like having an indomitable will.
The example you use about "turning to steel" was not a Devil Fruit power, this is when One Piece gets a bit more complex 😅😂 But yes, it is being more confirmed that Devil Fruits do biologically alter your body and perhaps it links to some defect that causes the user to feel weak when submerged in water, Sea Water especially... or some supernatural element of Mother Nature lmao
And if we get into more specifics, water affects them more when it's still water and they don't feel adverse affects when they are knee deep but this can vary depending on a person's tolerance. Could be some genetic affect that causes users to feel sick or weak when submerged in a large amount of water. But apparently there is manufactured stone that has similar affects in surpressing Devil Fruit powers sooo who knows lol.
ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder. It’s not caused by lead poisoning or asbestos exposure. I was born premature with strep. When they gave me penicillin, they found out that I’m allergic. The doctor anticipated that I would either be severely mentally disabled or brain dead. When I survived, my brain waves were tested. I was diagnosed with ADHD at 4 in 1983. While I can't properly explain as a doctor since I don't have the overall medical knowledge, I can say that his fruit allows him to utilize every practice and field of operation on the human body and/or environment. Meaning that he could remove a terminal disease from his body in an instant if possible, even though removing it from your DNA would require you to examine and understand thousands or millions of strands of code from your body.
However, this fruit can only be wielded by top medical doctors since to use such a fruit, one must have grade-S knowledge in the field of medical science.
Interesting enough, one piece has mineral called seastone that can mimic effects of the sea and nullify devil fruit powers.
And in some cases, seasalt can partly neutralize some powers like kill zombies same way as seawater would.
Perhaps devil fruits weakness requires certain type of salt that that once covered, causes extreme exhaustion.
There actually is a Heal-Heal fruit in one piece already, it belongs to the Tontata princess Mancherrie and lets her heal most injuries (not diseases) with her tears! And if I remember correctly, Law was able to heal himself after eating the Op-Op fruit because he then could basically teleport all traces of the white lead out of his body (or rather switch their position with something else). with poison it's a little different, so the white lead disease could also be one of those times his powers could work. He quite literally gave luffy the option to "fight" this poison out of him. He didn't heal him, the rest was up to the one he used his hormones on. Now I know it's luffy and it was stated there it was a miracle he got up so quickly and recovered, but Ivan only opened up the opportunity for this to happen. A good analogy would be for example that law or mancherrie jumps into the fight and saves you, whereas ivankov gives you a sword and tells you to deal with it yourself

Law's sister didn't die from the disease. Law went out of the house and his sister hid in the closet. When he returned the house was on fire and she didn't make it out of the closet. Law's backstory is one of the hardest ones in the series.

According to the Law light novels, a few days after eating the Op-Op fruit law secludes himself in a cave on a nearby island and would learn how to use his powers. Part of this was using his powers to literally rip the disease out of his body piece by piece. This process took roughly about a week and wasn't exactly painless either. It took a week because the "Room' needed for Law's power to work drains your stamina to create and maintain. The drain is also dependent on how big he makes the Room, ranging from a few feet to several dozen kilometers

Law has one of the Saddest Backstories in the series which after his family was killed he escaped by hiding under dead bodies (this was cut from the anime)
- There is a Heal Heal Fruit eaten by Mansherry which is a Paramecia Type that grants the user the ability to heal others by using the user’s body liquid with her using her tears or creating Dandelions (temporarily heals others) but it cost a bit of the user’s lifespan (good thing that she is a dwarf), but the user can use others like blood donors
- The Op-Op (as in operation) Fruit is a Paramecia type that allows the user to make a bubble that acts as the operating room which he can control anything within in like cutting anything / body without killing or damage them, moving things around like telekinesis, scanning, exchanging various objects positions (this explains how he can teleport), & many more
- Fun fact Law’s home Flevance is similar to the real life location of Casale Monferrato from Italy with both being nicknamed the "White City" & developed in an industry centered around the mining especially the use of toxic materials that being asbestos

The most we have regarding canon information comes from Vegapunk's theories on the nature of devil fruits in which he claims that they are manifestations of alternative realities which are rejected by nature as represented by the sea.
All we know for sure is that seawater and sea prism stone saps the stamina of devil fruit users and seals their abilities. The exact mechanics behind why this is the case are still not entirely certain.
@@kylepessell1350 In addition the energy sapping seems to manifest as some sort of lethargy. Muscles seem to go limp, but powers aren't nullified (Luffy's body remaining rubber underwater). The user seems incredibly drowsy though not rendered unconscious. The strength of the effects can be adapted to to an extent and can vary based on concentration of sea prism stone & depth in water. Devil fruit users also seem to recover relatively quickly after exposure ends indicating it may be more like energy blocking than sapping.

Passive effects such as an altered body from various Paramecia and most Zoan types don't seem affected aside from paralysis while active effects such as Zoan shifting, Logia powers, and certain Paramecia abilities do seem blocked by more than just a lack of energy to use them.
I'm fairly sure that the depiction of Amber Lead disease and the destructive response to it draws loosely from things like the Turin asbestos mining disaster or the marginalization and violent harassment that victims of Minamata disease (also a manmade pollution/ poisoning disaster created by a Japanese company) faced from their neighbours for suffering and for trying to speak out about it while the government and media covered it up for decades
also the Op-Op fruit enables the user to perform unnatural surgeries that wouldn't be possible like keeping people's body parts separated but with nerves still connected, in a supplemental novel Law was essentially able to concentrate the substance in his liver and manually extract it over an extended period. It's not super clear what happened but essentially the powers are implied (if you understand the body and how substances accumulate in it well enough) to be able to do virtually anything a doctor might want to do or theoretically imagine like identifying and physically extracting narcotics from a person's bloodstream, which he did on Punk Hazard.
Oda has gone on record that none of his diseases are supposed to line up perfectly but that he takes inspiration from multiple sources and makes just enough not accurate that he doesn't marginalize people suffering, nor make their suffering feel less real. He's a chill mangaka, it's one of the many things he does to try not to make his readers feel like they're being looked down on.

The op op fruits full name is the operation operation fruit, his room is a surgeons room and in it he can basically act as a one man surgery team and can basically do anything that you could do in a surgeons room like perform amputations, use radiation, and I believe the teleportation is supposed to be like a transplant since he swaps the place of two things .
The Opi- Opi No Mi allows Law to remove any form of poison or bacteria that would be harmful to the body. He does something similar on Punk Hazard with all of the children that were experimented on. Him curing his Amber Lead Syndrome is him removing the poison from his body, and fixing his Lineage Factor (what One Piece calls DNA). This is likely related to the Eternal Youth Surgery that would sacrifice his own life to give someone else Eternal Youth. It's the reason Doflomingo wanted the Fruit, to live forever.
The Heal- Heal Fruit also exists. The user can produce a liquid that can heal injuries. This power is inherent in their tears, so causing them to cry forces the power out. The user is also able to create a type of flower that's similar to a Dandelion. The fluff from it can be used to heal minor injuries, and temporarily heal major injuries. It can also fix inanimate objects, but the user will shorten their own life to do so. Likely because the Fruit requires the target to already be able to heal oneself.
On the opposite end you have the Sick- Sick Fruit which allows you to create diseases. The first time the power is used it produced a disease that changed the infected person's sex to female. Since the name is Ma Lady, pun on Malady, it likely doesn't effect those with female biology.
8:56 I was diagnosed with a skin condition called vitiligo which causes similar white patches on my skin usually having to do with too high of an immune system which kills the pigment in the skin. If it spreads to an area that has a decent amount of hair such as the scalp, it will remove the hair color, bleaching spots of your hair white. This disease in the story may have similar symptoms to vitiligo plus a few symptoms of other real diseases combined into a deadly plague.

hey Doc! Oda already included a devil fruit that can do that. It's called the Chiyu Chiyu no mi, or heal heal fruit. It's owned by a Tontatta princess and it allows her to heal anyone's injuries with her tears. Also, the ability to manage pain and physical uneasiness is a part of another Devil fruit owned by Marco the Phoenix. His flames of rebirth allow him to temporarily heal people, himself and relieve stress.

That's a good theory even if it might not be fully right I could actually see it being partially right.
So much about Devil fruits is hidden in mystery maybe the idea of being "Hated by the Sea" is just something spread so that the world government could make them more feared or was something spread in the past at some point and truth was never looked into rumors or superstitions given form for too long especially since Devil Fruit users are labelled as different things depending on the place and what they know like just Magic Users or something and thought to be cursed or given powers in different ways.

The steel looking limbs is an entirely different power system called haki that is unrelated to the devil fruits. It’s basically an exertion of will power to make your self stronger and more aware, and in some rare cases able to exert your will over others.
That’s an interesting guess though if you don’t know the power systems in the story!

The World Government is pretty much an Oligarchy protecting a set of intelligent nobles who use lesser intelligent nobles as public figures. To the One Piece's civilians under the World Government they think 20 Kings united to fight an evil Kingdom and their descendants became those nobles. The more intelligent Ones command the different factions and choose which Islands are expendible or threats.

Its clear they had different ethics when they were chosen but by having diverse knowledge gives them a better grasp of what they control and no longer control and seek to reclaim.

So the way that Law cured himself is actually genius, however it was only explained in a novel. What he did was just think of what a doctor would need to cure his disease and thought: if only he had a "operation room" and the power activated from there.
After a bit of practice, of opening the room and seeing what medical equipment (like Scalpel) he could use. He had to open up his own body, section by section, and picking away the flakes of Amber lead in his blood stream and organs.
Other techniques that Law can use inside his room:
Offcourse *Scalpel/mes* - To extract organs from someone's body without cutting off the blood circulation.
*Amputate* - In order to cut off limbs, without severing the blood circulation. So he can slice off someone's head without killing the guy.
*Shambles* - To swap objects (or himself) with other objects. It's used alot as teleportation, where he swamps himself with snow or rocks to achieve high speed movement in the process.
*Takt* - To adjust the operation room to his needs.
*Radio knife / Gamma knife* - For low frequence wavelenghts strikes, as if they're getting electrocuted. Destroying internal organs.
*Counter shock* - An electric charge that can be used like a Defibrilator.
*Scan* - It's like an x-ray to find objects he desires. He used this to find all the communication devices the marines were carrying and teleport them with shambles, by swapping it with snow arround him.
*Injection shot* - To manipulate his sword to the required length. Making Law able to tranfer other techniques, like the electric based attacks, from within the opponent's body.
*Curtain* - A protective veil.
There are also awakened techniques that allows him to open differend kind of Rooms. Like *K-room* to coat his sword with the ability to open rooms on a distance or *R-room* to make an noise cancelling room (Based on Rosinante's Calm-calm fruit).

The inability of devil fruit users to swim seems to involve a draining of strength when submerged in water. The more of them submerged, the more of a drain. Seastone is a material that is somehow able to replicate this effect to a greater extent and is often used to make restraints for devil fruit users. If you want to find a medical explanation, I would suggest considering some change to the permeability of the skin in regards to water that might cause it to possibly interfere with muscle use.
Not sure if its confirmed or not, but i'd say Law's fruit is able to perform miracle operations and treat diseases that are normally untreatable because he can bypass certain limitations that would be a a dead end for regular medicine.
Law for instance is capable of severing body parts without damaging them all the while he prevents blood from exiting where he cuts open.
If you would have for example a brain tumour that is inoperable due to its location, that wouldn't be a problem for Law.
Stuff like blood loss, damaging the muscles, bones or nerves of any kind is a non existent problem for Law.
This is however possible because Law is a doctor. His fruit doesn't work simply by him pointing towards and desiring the medical issue to get fixed, no, he himself needs to know of how the condition functions and must figure out how to treat it.
That "steel limbs" thing is haki, which is completely separate from devil fruits
Current anime spoilers below (as in, this was explained in last week's episode), but the reasoning behind Devil Fruit abilities, including their inability to swim, has been fully explained.
Each Devil Fruit represents a potential 'reality' that has been dreamed up by people of the past, and the person who eats the fruit becomes able to access that false 'reality.' Any coherent idea that has sufficient and long-lasting enough passion behind it can coalesce into a Devil Fruit that will allow the eater to live within that dreamed 'reality,' which gives them abilities that defy any traditional logical explanation but are internally consistent within the logic of that dreamed 'reality.'
As to the 'can't swim' thing- the ocean in One Piece is effectively a world-spanning deity with a living will, and is the source of all life. It can sense when a Devil Fruit eater, which the ocean hates for defying the natural order it created, is submerged within itself, and it attacks them by stealing away their strength and stamina.
Someone who's eaten a Devil Fruit can still swim in freshwater, and, as we've seen multiple times with strong-willed people like Luffy, can still tread water for a brief moment in ocean water if they're robust enough not to lose all their strength immediately; describing it as "losing the ability to swim" is simply easier to get the idea across than the more accurate "so long as the majority of their body is submerged in ocean water they lose access to their Devil Fruit powers, and they also quickly become heavily fatigued and lose consciousness."

So, I think i should mention that the "White Lead" does have a direct Real World comparison. White Lead Cosmetic's used in 16th-18th Century Europe.
The effects of White Lead poisoning in Cosmetics of this era are horrific and apparently it was potent enough(Probably because your placing it on your skin for hours on end.), that just one exposure could cause skin-rashes and lead poisoning side-effects. Also, partially similar to the One Piece series version, your hair would begin to fall out.
it's not explained yet, but i think the going theory is that the main villain of the series has some sort of water-focused devil fruit, possibly a mythical sea god.
they "Awakened" the fruit, which allows them to control their element in the environment and how it affects others, and forbid other Devil Fruit users from swimming.
also that enemy is assumed to be immortal do to a previous user of the Ope Ope Fruit using it's special surgery.

The snip snip fruit. It works like the chop chop fruit. With the snip snip you can make any size cut or insertion on a patient. It has surgical and battle application. When awakened, you can cut atoms and point particles in half. The devil fruit works on anything with in a half mile radius. So you could cut a shilp if half half a mile away from it. Youd have to be a professional surgeon for the fruit to be useful medically. Keep in mind im not a doctor or surgeon

Some devil fruits can have unusual effects on the body of the user or on someone they intend to use their abilities on. It would be great if you could discuss this topic, using examples such as Luffy and Emporio Ivankov.
I'm actually a little surprised by the fact that you don't understand how Law was able to use the power of the Ope Ope no Mi to heal his Amber Lead Disease. It is because of the spatial control he has with the fruit's "room" ability. Just like he can remove limbs or organs from a person within his "room" area of effect, he was able to use that ability to remove all of the amber lead from his own body. Undoubtedly this would have been a very slow process as he was new to his Devil Fruit powers, most likely starting with the vital organs and gradually working out from there until the substance was completely removed.
As for what I would like to see you cover, if you read the manga of One Piece, then you will have recently learned about another in-universe disease called Sapphire Scale Disease. I'd love to hear your analysis of that one. (If you only watch the anime, it should probably reach that part of the story in the next year or so.)
Oh, and the thing where some people seem to be able to harden their skin like steel isn't a Devil Fruit ability; it's a power called haki (specifically a type called armament haki) which allows them to focus their energy in order to strengthen their body against damage from attacks.
