Wow. I just bought this console and I cannot get over how transparent it is... until you A/B it when it's spread out across the board. On each channel, I can barely wrap my ear around what I'm doing until I exaggerate dials. It's an amazing console. Thanks for the demo Mike! It really helped.
Love the BX channel strips but this is my favorite. The EQ on this is absolutely beautiful. So musical, smooth, round, warm, gentle, pleasing, sweet, etc… and the compressor… so smooth & velvety. I throw this on everything. If I had to pick just one channel strip, this would be it.
Took the words right out of my mouth. This channel strip is my desert island mixing tool. The EQ is so buttery smooth, I can't get over it. I use this way more than my 9000 j
Love the review! Quick question - would this be idea For the master bus as well? Couldn’t find anything on if the forte console had a master bus / compression section
I have the bundle from PA, the SSL consoles are also there, the Focusrite and SSL 9000J are my favorites, depending on what I'm mixing. Great video Mr. White.
Loved the EQ on Guitars! Also I think that Desser/Exiter is really cool and could be really useful! I definately can't wait to use this Strip on the album I'm engineering/mixing this summer!
This is going to be a Very Nice Plug-in for my Collection , Thank's again Mike for such an excellent Presentation And Sampling for all of us interested and Watching , I love it . Nice Piece of Software . Thank's again Mike !
Michael. Incredible Tutorial! Awesome plugin! 2 Questions: 1. Why on Mono instruments (i.e. Snare) are you staying in Stereo mode (and linking both sides)? Could you create a separate, expanded video focused on uses and techniques of the dynamics filter section?
Mike, great 2-part video. I own the ISA-1 mic pre and LOVE it. I get much use out of my PA Mega Bundle, but until now have been useing Harrison Mixbus 32C (after initial work in Nuendo) for final mixdown tasks because of the bus/summing/tape machine architecture built into it, that imo really gets close to the sonic “texture” a large format console is able to impart to the audio. Can you comment about summing with regards to the bx_focusrite console, and if you look to achieve that in ITB mixing? Thanks so much!
Hi. I use this plug-in a lot but I still don't setting the metering. I don't use a console just my computer so what would be the best setting for me when I open the Brainworx icon? Many thanks.
The metering is almost useless for a DAW because it does not provide a dBFS meter. It uses a digital representation of the VU on the left and a PPM (Peak Program Meter) on the right. Both meters are true to the original console but the PPM has no use in a modern DAW. It was designed to show when the voltage levels of a channel exceeded the audio audio voltage rails on the console which happen to be +24volts and -24volts DC. Essentially, it shows analog clipping. Nostalgic but useless.
Thanks for video! I like EQ section of this console but the comp is not the best one - it pumps and distorts acoustic guitar and piano. SSL9000J is much better in terms of dynamics and sound richness IMHO
@@mixingwithmike Oh, okay. Ya totally, probably wasn't as good. I'm pretty stocked, Focusrite's now giving the plugin away for free to any Focusrite Pro hardware user's. Came in Clutch just in time to mix an album!!!
Maybe transparent is a better word in this case. There are plugins that seem to tear a sound apart in a bad way, and those that seem to sound great even with extreme settings. This one falls into the second category
Amazing plugin, the only thing I can compare this to is my Avalon 737sp, in that the eq is so clean you’ll think you aren’t using it. Very open sounding, just as described. I may run an instance on each track as a complete console- it’s just that good.
Similar sounding plugs but the Focusrite is more transparent and smooth. I love the 9000J on everything as well. I’ll often use the J to get my overall sound and follow it with the Focusrite just for its creamy lushness. If I had to choose one, the Focusrite is my favorite, the J is a close second. And this is comparing these Bx plugs with the UAD stuff.
I think it's an amazing deal. I best most of you will buy more than $249 worth of plugins every year from Plugin Alliance, even with all the deals. Instead you get over 100 plugins for that price! It's a better price than a Pick-Pack and you get 100+ plugins instead of 10! Unless you just hate subscription plans, I think it's a no-brainer.
@@mixingwithmike I was sad when they got rid of Pick Pack Plan. Especially before I can even sign up. But then they hit us with this deal. OMG! I had about 40 dream plugins that I wanted to use from their site. Couldnt believe that I can have all of them for an entire year, for a price that is lower than their advertised $249 (which is already a steal). I promptly signed tf up. No questions asked. This is a deal of a lifetime. Now I can record, mix, and master all of my projects in my bedroom, with professional results. I got all the plugins I will ever need. I have so many plugins, that I havent even used this one yet. Im about to use this Focusrite channel strip for a whole week. Im a fan of bx channel strips. Love the Neve and SSLs
I just got this plugins and I swear to god I wouldn't use it in a session until I finished watching your videos about this!
I just got this plug-in on sale for 29.99. easily the best 30 bucks I have ever spent.

I just bought this channel strip and I have to tell it's one of the best investiments I have ever made.
Amazing video. I’ve become a huge fan of your channel. No nonsense, great info, and great musical examples! Thanks!
Not only is this a brilliant demonstration of the plugin, but it's an amazing mix tutorial in its own right. Thanks so much (again) Mike!
Cheers!

Works well on everything!
My favourite channel strip...
Mike, no discussion of the THD control? I've been getting some good harmonic content out of this plugin, curious what you think
I wasn’t so sure about using this; now I am! Excellent video, very clear explanations & well-demonstrated examples. Thank you! 🙂
Cheers!
You’re always the best of the best, Mike. Thanks for the video on this and I’ll be there in Mixing With Mike to watch how you use this. 👍

I found that the auto release definitely pumps, but I think some better settings don't.
Awsome dude! I've been hoping for this for a long time! Just curious, did you ever try the Focusrite version of the Console emulation?
That was a long time ago and they dropped support of it if I recall this correctly. Don't remember it bering special like this one
@@mixingwithmike Oh, okay. Ya totally, probably wasn't as good. I'm pretty stocked, Focusrite's now giving the plugin away for free to any Focusrite Pro hardware user's. Came in Clutch just in time to mix an album!!!
What do you mean by "sounds musical"? Can it be described objectively with some measurable units?
Maybe transparent is a better word in this case. There are plugins that seem to tear a sound apart in a bad way, and those that seem to sound great even with extreme settings. This one falls into the second category
Hi Mike how do i make the focurite sc console mono instead of stereo for single tracks?
It should automatically recognize that

I know it's a different desk but how does this compare to the SSL 9000J? in terms of clarity

Where can I get these focusrite plugins from?
www.plugin-alliance.com
They gave this away for free as well
Yep! I finally dug into the plugin alliance giveaways from earlier this year and wow! What quality!
Really Amazing review, thanks Mike ! I bought this plug after i saw your video ... :)
Cheers!

It's the most fair sub model, because they give voucher. And it's stackable with sale.

@@mixingwithmike 'pinched' is a great way of describing it. Anyway, just here for the review!
