The Brainworx Bx_console SSL 9000 J is a brand new SSL emulation by brainworx. The plugin painstakingly emulates 72 channels of the SSL 9000J console and adds some features, not to be found on the original console. This review takes the BX_Console through it's paces, shows which control does what and most importantly, how it sounds when used in a real mix. The mix wil be done using this SSL9000J plugin only, ( safe for some delay and reverb on 1 track) and I will let hear hear how the mix sound before using the plugin and after. Tack! I just bought it with my cashback from last year's subscription. Also got the black box, the millennia EQ and the Shadow hills Class A mastering compressor...
@@audiotoolshed I used it on 2 mixes today. It really has the character of the 9000J. I put it across all channels and used it as the only processor (Eq and dynamics) for everything except vocals. Love it!
Ha! Thanks for the kind words! The channel is only truly active since 23rd december 2019, so that's close to 6 months now. I grew from 0 to 479 ( at the time of typing this) in that time.
I think you mean buscompressor like the well known ssl4000 ones? If you take the plugin and put it on the masterbus you will get a buscompressor. niot EXACTLY the same but it will have the same sonic signature.
That's a good point I guess that's a Lindell thing bcuz BX makes the SSL strips. But they should throw a bus plugin with it to really seperate themselves from the other SSL emulations including one by SSL themselves and Waves who got an entire mixing board crammed into a plugin.
AMAZING review! Thanks. You got my subscription. Im on the monthly package deal from PA but trying to buy out what I like & use, and terminate my subscription! would love your feedback on this? Thanks.
Thanks for your kind words! I personally have the subscription. That is mainly because of this channel, i need acces to about everything for reference. Bur realistically buying the plugins you really use would be a very good move IMHO. I have literal access to hundreds of plugins, and I use a few dozen on a daily basis in my mixing projects in reality.
Critiquing the cymbals and snares on a product review (unless the product is cymbals and snares) is pointless. This video is simply a SSL 9000J review not a how to make a song sound authentic tutorial. I don't see the point in that.
@@ctatrains Some people just need to whine just because they feel validated. No need to spend more time on that, I could’ve deleted the comment easily.

You’re welcome! I can say you have made excellent choices with those plugins :-)
Thanks for the clear run down of the SSL 9000J console emulation.
Hey Nathan, thank YOU for watching!!!
Nice review. Easy to understand with the samples you chose, nice job!
Hey Chris, happy to hear it was easy to understand. Thanks!
I just started your video... I've recorded and mixed lots of projects on the real 9000J. So at least one person watching has done that! :)
Haha you're that one! And since you have worked on a 9000j: On a scale of 1-100 with the real 9000j being 100 how well does the brainworx score?
@@audiotoolshed I just downloaded the demo yesterday. I am starting a mixing project today and plan to use it. I'll let you know!
@@davidterry8252 Great! Looking forward :-)

Is it me or the HPF frequency number needs to be pretty higher in order to knock out those frequencies...?
this plugin is a beast. it really can bring some great bottom end to your kicks
Great review! How do you only have 478 subscribers?

Excellent mix-through video.
👍😁😁👍
Glad you think so!
Excellent walk-through.
Hey Frederic, thanks!
been using this for over a year now. Id really wish I had the bus plugin like the Lindell 80 Series...
I think you can be sure that the lindell plugins will come in a sale at a point :-)
@@audiotoolshed i already havae the lindell 80 series (channel + buss). just wished the ssl9000 would come with a bus plugin too.

@@audiotoolshed no i mean just a bus plugin. look into the Lindell 80 Series. its a TMT channel strip and a TMT bus circuit.

Too much crashes for a reggae tune bredren. Gotta close that hat and tighten up that snare amigo... Unless you're totally hydriding
Reggae rock groove bruv. It is what it is, i dont suffer much from a conservative view of how things must sound.
