The service position is something mb has had for years. If you try to work on your car without using it you will invent new curse words everytime you bang your head on the hood. Lol. I had an 85 300d which I loved. Now I have an 01 e320 and I am starting to really hate it because of all the pain in the ass electronic crap on it!
Great purchase!! I bought my 2004 E55 2 years ago and I've found it to be very easy to work on. Just about everything I've needed to fix (I'm a shadetree mechanic too), there's a youtube or instructions that I can follow along with. This car always brings a smile to my face whenever I drive it. It's amazing to take on road trips. Just be proactive when it comes to maintenance.
FYI. Your car does give an actual real time oil level reading in “dyno mode”. You now own a w211 with a 113k motor. Oil cooler leaks are normal and cheap to repair. Valve cover gasket also.
I second the oil cooler gasket theory. I had the same issue on my g55 and it took 7 gaskets total to fix my oil leak. 1 at the base of the oil filter housing that requires a big socket to remove the bolt, 4 on both sides of the oil cooler block and 2 on both hard pipes on top of the oil cooler block. After this I never saw the low oil error or an oil leak again.
Hey there! I’m new to the channel. I don’t know if you didn’t know this before or didn’t have the ceiling clearance, but you can 90 degree the hood into the service position for ease of access. There’s a release lever (see saw end you don’t press has a nub that prevents the hood from 90-ing) on the driver’s side front hood hinge that you release first, then same thing on passenger side hood hinge. Dope purchase of a W211 E55! Looking forward to your adventure videos with it!
The e55 AMG is one of the best cars! I love the way it drives and sounds, Ive driven a touring once and a saloon like yours a fewsl times. I subbed bro, also I'd take that oil reading as low for sure and you can plug it into a good diagnostic machine to see the oil level as my tutor had one in college and was doing it in the workshop.
Hey buddy i would like to give you some of my experience since i have a CLS55 amg .. the oil level add up warning comes when u drive for a long journey and you accelerate really hard which makes the engine hotter and decrease oil level slightly accordingly .. you said that it never came back which is simply because the engine cooled down and the oil level returned to previous level .. Secondly you dont really need that stick to measure the oil .. type “ mercedes oil check level “ in youtube search and you will find videos of how you can check your oil level accurately through your instrument cluster .. They can take an e55 and make it a rocket ship... take that thing in and get it TUNED. Eurocharged toronto is amazing
I suggest you to check the sway arm bushings. I've noticed some sound at around 11:04 that does indicate a "worn out" bushing or it's something you left in the car that's bouncing. It's very simple to replace. You can spray them with lithium grease, but new ones are just a better solution overall.

Good thing you have mechanic skills and lots of patience! Certainly there is joy and victory in fixing these german cars. I would say add Fix to your handle :)
One piece of advice: Take the measurement right after driving enough to get the engine to max temp. The difference between cold and hot oil levels is around 11-15 mm, depending on the model. With that being said, does your car have the factory Bi-Xenon headlights? If not, I would highly recommend doing a bi-xenon projector retrofit with some OEM HID bulbs such as Osram or Phillips. SicilianStyle so you are basically saying that you should change the headlights them selfes?
@@karamhassoon181 It's not necessary to change out the entire headlight unit. They can be opened up and retrofitted with a bi-xenon projector. Then once the bi-xenon projector is installed, you can now use a D2S HID bulb and it'll be in a projector that is meant for it.
SicilianStyle you should do that man it will look good on the e55
