Good video. Here's some info to supplement. There are 2 jets in these, an idle jet and a main jet/needle jet. If your mixture screw does nothing, then your idle jet is plugged and it's running on the main jet. When this happens your idle speed screw will also be extremely sensitive. My daughters didn't come with a fuel shut off valve. I'm used to turning my off when it's not driven and I didn't think to check for that 😅. Does it even matter or should I just go ahead and install one myself?
I’d add one. The purpose of a shutoff is in case of float/needle failure the engine doesn’t fill with fuel resulting in engine damage due to fuel dilution when it starts.
My issue is that whenever I start my 110cc atv, it’ll just go without giving it any gas and will stay at a steady 8-10 mph without giving it gas, it wasn’t doing this before I adjusted the air/fuel screw on the carb but when I loosen it, it backfires,
Currently I have no air filter on my son's 50cc. will it affect this procedure? when it starts up and I press on throttle it bogs real bad and shuts off. Baja wilderness 50cc atv
Good rule of thumb, all the Chinese bikes are dangerously lean, richen it up immediately, do not even ride it before you fatten the carb up or you will burn exhaust valves and then the rest of the motor.
I replaced the carburetor on my son’s Tao Tao 110 Boulder. Starts up better than it ever has and sounds great. When I put it into Drive it has almost no power and eventually dies out… someone help me!

Bryan Dobbs What color is your spark plug? You could have a vacuum leak. Take a can of carb cleaner and spray it around the engine, while it’s idling. If the RPM’s increase, you’ve got a vacuum leak.
I have a sunl 110cc which is pretty much the same thing you have. My issue is it won't idle but it will only go if I keep giving it gas by pushing on a throttle. if I let off the gas it dies. Do you know what could be the issue?
Could be a couple things - too lean or rich would be where I’d start. I’d see if it’s too lean. If it’s neither of these, it could be a number of clogged things like jet, or a fuel line, or air filter.
Unfortunately, some of these carbs don’t have the needles that can be adjusted. You’ll want to grab a new carb on Amazon. Make sure you get one that is adjustable.
@BellyUpFishGarage I just got a raytech, they said something like they sealed away the adjustment per epa mandates. Sometimes when you let off the throttle it dies.
Johnny Turbo I’ve never really thought about it on these. Might be worth a shot. If I did it, I probably wouldn’t go to a high polish like 2000 grit. I’d probably stop somewhere around 600...
On my bike the idle speed screw is all the way outside and the other small one is inside but every time I’m not touching the accelerator it accelerates by it self can you do video on that?
Mine would start and die unless I adjust the idle speed high. After it starts I can lower my idle speed and it’ll run great for hours and no trouble starting. Can it be a dirty carb? I’m clueless when it comes to carburetors.
It’ll bog less. I prefer these to idle higher that this.it doesn’t bog and it comes back down to idle better. I don’t go just by the mixture screw, I also read the plug.

Darius Butler That’s your crankcase breather/vent line. It lets the build up of gases in the case vent out. You can either route it to the K&N or buy a small filter for it at the local parts store or internet.

David Griggs thank you so much brother. Mine is having this problem. It’s brand new. I appreciate you.
@@dirtballnvegas9311 When you pull the needle and slide out before you go adjusting the clip height pull the bowl off the carby and remove the main jet check you don't have a obstruction in the needle entering end of that jet or on the main interior of the body down where the needle drops through.
If this is all clear then shift the clip height 1 position at a time until it clears up .
I just bought a new carburetor but I don’t know where does the lower pipe with the string go
I'm not really sure what you're referencing when you say the "string."
You can shoot me an email at jeff @ myebaychannelname dot com with a pic and I'll try to help you.
How Many Turns From All The Way In Back Out On A Cold Motor Idle Screw To Get It To Start .. Thanks
I’d go somewhere between 1.5 and 2 turns.
So, this video has been much more popular then I ever anticipated.
What other sorts of “Chinese ATV” stuff would you guys like to see?
All of it 😆 🤣, thanks for the video
I’ll see what I can do...
@@BellyUpFishGarage thanks man
Sir, have you ever wired remote start/stop using harness from Amazon for the 50cc quad? I cannot find the 6 and 2 pin plugs it is referring to.
Wish I could help, but I have not.
My issue is that whenever I start my 110cc atv, it’ll just go without giving it any gas and will stay at a steady 8-10 mph without giving it gas, it wasn’t doing this before I adjusted the air/fuel screw on the carb but when I loosen it, it backfires,
Have you done anything else to the carb other than adjust the air/fuel mixture?
@@BellyUpFishGarage nope
@@AidenZebra have you cleaned your carb?
@@BellyUpFishGarage yep
Currently I have no air filter on my son's 50cc. will it affect this procedure? when it starts up and I press on throttle it bogs real bad and shuts off. Baja wilderness 50cc atv
No, it won’t.
@@BellyUpFishGarage thank you. Explained adjusting very well
@@jasong3521 Thanks. Glad it helped you.
Mines won’t start and if it does it cuts right off. Any idea what the problem could be
Great Video‼️ Combustion Engine Wizard... 😂😂😂
Good rule of thumb, all the Chinese bikes are dangerously lean, richen it up immediately, do not even ride it before you fatten the carb up or you will burn exhaust valves and then the rest of the motor.
M6 (main jet) are too small for my pz22 carb, are there M7 main jets?
Thank you for me I turned it tight and it worked
I replaced the carburetor on my son’s Tao Tao 110 Boulder. Starts up better than it ever has and sounds great. When I put it into Drive it has almost no power and eventually dies out… someone help me!
Did you follow the directions in this video? I’d say your air fuel ratio is off, one way or the other.
@@BellyUpFishGarage I did and it’s working ! Running very well. Unfortunately it’s moving on its own in D or R even with zero throttle .. what’s up with that?
@canadiancraftbrewerytours Could be a couple things. I’d start by bringing the idle speed down some.
Could also check the throttle linkage.
@@BellyUpFishGarage perhaps when changing the carb I installed the throttle cable wrong ?
@@canadiancraftbrewerytours Check and make sure the throttle barrel is in the sleeve correctly.
My chinese scooter was running until i tried to get the idle sorted but i turned the fuel mixture screw and now i cant start it its a keeway pixel 50cc
Thanks for the video this might help my quad
Did all that. Thanks. Mine bogs down when pressing the throttle all the way. Any advice?
Bryan Dobbs What color is your spark plug? You could have a vacuum leak.
Take a can of carb cleaner and spray it around the engine, while it’s idling. If the RPM’s increase, you’ve got a vacuum leak.
@@BellyUpFishGarageI spray car cleaner and it turns off
Thank u sir awesome video much appreciated!!!
tdub2399 You’re welcome. Glad it helped.
I have a sunl 110cc which is pretty much the same thing you have. My issue is it won't idle but it will only go if I keep giving it gas by pushing on a throttle. if I let off the gas it dies.
Do you know what could be the issue?
Sounds like a dirty carb. Your jets are probably just dirty. Try taking it off and cleaning it.
@@BellyUpFishGarage oh, I forgot to mention it is a new carburetor
@@jorgepizarro3327 Could still be just some junk it from the factory.
Have you tried resetting the needles and going with a fresh tune?
@@BellyUpFishGarage I'm going to look at it in the a.m. I'll let you know what's wrong if I can resolve it 😂
I have same issue any advice
I feel like this problem started after I gave it a wash?
If you bought and put a good carburetor on there the throttle respond would be a lot better.
No doubt, maybe I should look into one.
Do you know what causes my ATV it dies bogs down at WOT. I placed new carb spark plug adjust pre your video. No power at open throttle
Carb needs to be cleaned, your idle jet is working but not your main jet.
what does it mean when it initially bogs under throttle (like shown here)
Could be a couple things - too lean or rich would be where I’d start. I’d see if it’s too lean.
If it’s neither of these, it could be a number of clogged things like jet, or a fuel line, or air filter.
Whats the jetting your using ? The link in your desciprtion come with stock jetting?
I’m running stock jetting.
I can’t find the screw that adjust is it something covering it?
Unfortunately, some of these carbs don’t have the needles that can be adjusted.
You’ll want to grab a new carb on Amazon. Make sure you get one that is adjustable.
@BellyUpFishGarage I just got a raytech, they said something like they sealed away the adjustment per epa mandates. Sometimes when you let off the throttle it dies.
Any thoughts on porting/polishing the intake runner? Or do you leave them stock?
Johnny Turbo I’ve never really thought about it on these. Might be worth a shot. If I did it, I probably wouldn’t go to a high polish like 2000 grit. I’d probably stop somewhere around 600...
@@BellyUpFishGarage 🤔 i may give it a try. Why not lol. I love tinkering, especially if there is performance to possibly gain. 😁👍
On my bike the idle speed screw is all the way outside and the other small one is inside but every time I’m not touching the accelerator it accelerates by it self can you do video on that?
Check your throttle cable.
@@BellyUpFishGarage thanks
Mine would start and die unless I adjust the idle speed high. After it starts I can lower my idle speed and it’ll run great for hours and no trouble starting. Can it be a dirty carb? I’m clueless when it comes to carburetors.
Yeh, sounds like a dirty carb somewhere…
I have a question mines bogs a little and it backfires ass soon as you let go of accelerator
Turn this screw clockwise,
Hey, wondering if i set it to a higher idle, what will the difference be? Acceleration? Btw good video 😁
It’ll bog less. I prefer these to idle higher that this.it doesn’t bog and it comes back down to idle better. I don’t go just by the mixture screw, I also read the plug.
Okay bro so the iddle how much should go in or out, turns? I got 50cc regal raptor dd 50 and got keyhin carburator but the problrm is that when the engine is cold it starts works like 30 sec and stop thats it... and when its warm its okay what should i do? How to adjust it?
Vac3 Poteski A good starting point is to close it and then back the needle out 2 full turns and adjust from there.
@@BellyUpFishGarage so 2 turns the air flow and also 2 turns the idle. I will try tomorrow that its 1 at night here in mkd. Thank you for your answer i will let u know what happend
Okay it worked 2 turns for normal i found the max and then i went to the idle and now on cold engine start well and dont shut down also on warm.. finally tnx mate for the info.
Awesome video! Question, there's a rubber hose from the air filter to somewhere on the engine. What is that and do u need it. Put a k@n filter on son's atv and don't know if i should drill hole in filter like factory, or just leave off. Thanks!
Darius Butler That’s your crankcase breather/vent line. It lets the build up of gases in the case vent out.
You can either route it to the K&N or buy a small filter for it at the local parts store or internet.
Ok thank you for letting me know!!
Darius Butler You’re welcome.
Darius Butler... I didn’t know either but I just drilled a hole in the new carb air filter and reattached the hose with a new inline filter
Runs great
I need to order a new idle mix screw and don't know which one to order
Might be easier to just grab a $15 carb.
Good video just my air/fuel is under neath so have to take it off to unscrew :(
No you don't, mine is on the bottom too. All I did was use a stubby flat head screwdriver and adjusted it.
