To question how the staff works is like questioning how does a magic lamb works, and how is there a Genie living inside it. Not everything needs an explanation, after all this is geared to kids, not strictly for adults who seeks out answers for every micro size question. (Another comment of mine that is NOT a hate comment. I apologize if it seems like a hate comment.)
Just to mention about the movie/show and the comics, the comics are never proven to be cannon to the show and the movie. For example (and note, I never read this comic, I just happen to know this information) King Sombra in the show is evil, and some of us would assume that he's dead. But in the comics, he's shown to still be alive, and even gets reformed in the same comic. But the show doesn't address that he's alive, and is good. And likely the reason is because the comics don't have an effect on the show or the movie. And because there's mlp movie prequel comics doesn't mean it's cannon, it's just to have fun with what happens before the event of the film. (This is NOT a hate comment in anyway, it's just to address the whole comics and movie business)
I think I adressed the questionable canon of comics at some point during the video :P Well in general though this was the case until recently, the Sirens appearing in Shadow Play proofed that the show doesn't particular care about the comics (as they had a different background story in their fiendship is magic issue) But the Legends of Magic Sub-Series is a bit of a different story as it is meant to tie into season 7 and Shadow Play in particular, so i woudl consider them canon to soem degree. The Movie Prequel comics don't contradict anything in the movie and they were promoted as a tie.in so I would consider them canon as well, though they are not essential. You can ignore them without a problem but I think they enhance the experience a bit^^
I don't get how people think the Storm King is a bad villain. He is the Emperor Palpatine of the franchise (With Tempest Shadow as Darth Vader). Sure, if he had more screentime, he would be more developed (which is the common complaint about the movie characters that are not Tempest) but what we do see from this film and the prequel comics shows us that he is a cunning monster with a strong empire (I mean he supplied his troops with anti-magic weapons and stone bombs that even shields can't stop). He may be a comical villain who has child-like tendencies, but he still got stuff done and whenever he switches to serious mode, scary things happen. The Storm King didn't need magical powers to be dangerous. (He clearly didn't have any which is why he wanted the Alicorn magic) He was very cunning. Besides being smart enough to give his troops ways to counter magic attacks, he pretended to care for his subordinates just to keep them from turning on him and decieved Tempest into selling out her own people, her own home by playing on her past and making a deal that he would've broken whether the staff could restore her horn or not. He was one of the (If not THE) closest to succed in his goal, occupied Canterlot longer than even Chrysalis, actually turned Canterlot into a slave camp, and unlike Tempest has no redeemable qualities or excuse for his actions. What's more, the Storm King wanted to rule the whole world, not just Equestria, thus is a bigger threat. And people keep thinking Tirek is better and more evil than him. While Tirek is indeed a great villain in his own right, I believe the opposite is true. Example: So what if Tirek betrayed Discord. He only betrayed ONE guy. Not only did the Storm King betray Tempest, but he also created a tornado that nearly killed his army. HIS OWN FREAKIN ARMY! And who knows how many other people he has betrayed during his quest for world domination. Tirek can just go to Tartaurus.
I actually noticed a lot of people are comparing the storm king with tirek... and that's it... he's a combination of 3 villains at once: Tirek - the overall plot, as many will easily notice. King sombra - in the "king sombra wins" universe, he attacks and attempts to conquer equestria. same case here with the storm king, but he has an entire empire of non-pony territory under his rule to boot. Other similarities include: too much storms, use of CRYSSSSTALLLLZZZ, taking civs as prisoners or enslavement, and rests in pieces. Discord - the first thing the storm king did after getting the alicorn power was to mess with time. thier personalities outside of the ruthless iron-fisted king is actually a fun and whimsical guy. and he met his end by getting turned to stone,
I think I know the reasons they went to the hippogriffs instead of familiar allies: 1. The changelings and dragons were not allies at the time the movie started progression. 2. Celestia told Luna to find Queen Novo before being petrified and Luna ended up petrified as well. It's actually in character for Twilight to follow the instructions of her own mentor. 3. The allies probably wouldn't work out anyway. The changelings reformation and alliance was relatively new. They became more pacifistic and the Storm King's army seems to have more superior tech. The dragons are also new to the alliance and are not fully on good terms with the ponies. Ember improved relations but as we've seen with Garble in the season 7 finale, relations are just getting started. The yaks probably don't have enough rescorces to counter the Storm King's army.
I generally enjoyed the movie myself, Tricky Fox. However, when I compare how Tempest took out Celestia, Luna, and Cadence to what happened to them in some of the season finales, I still think the movie was worse than being confined to Tartarus by Lord Tirek or being suspended in cocoons by Chrysalis. I loved the new characters and the music, and I hope some mention or appearance of them in future seasons is done as well.
What if the staff can asborb any magic and not just alicorns? Tempest just fiqured out it would be easier to capture 4 alicorns then the entire pony race. After all, we saw that 4 alicorn magic is equal to bascally all the magic PLUS Discord.
I can understand your point of view, but if the Grifins saved the day then wouldn't it have been way too similar to the original My Little Pony movie from the 80's? In that movie the ponies went to find the flutter ponies, a group of xenophobes, with the power to defeat the smooze. The flutter ponies help after encouragement from the youngest most naive one of all.
I actually considered to include that comparison in my video but I concluded that i rather do a seperate video comparing the first G1 movie with this one^^
I think there is another reason for the betrayal. You see, according to Tempest, if he absorbed all the Alicorn magic in the Staff of Sacraneas, it would give him the power of 100 armies, making the Storm King's actual army obsolete. Notice that the tornado he creates wiped out some of his own goons, and he doesn't even bat an eyelid about it. He only treated his soldiers well for his own ends. Now that he's victorious, why should he keep up the benevolent act?
5:49 i like goofball villains 6:49 to be a goofball 🙂 Oh and the boulders that crystallized the 3 main alicorns there if you read/watch/listen-to the comics. Sombras fienship is magic comic. He had a spell that turned the princess of that area to the same crystals mabie the orbs are modified orbs of that spell?
Yeah I also had a problem with the movie because of some of the continuity errors and the adventure as well: the Royal Guards and the Crystal Empire could have assisted later when Canterlot was attacked, Mane 6 talk to their other allies for transportation and assistance, the hippogryphs should have fought with the princess in final battle like they originally planned, & at the Storm King more involved in the movie.
OMG the ending described in the art book would have been SO much better! And did I see Celestia in that large sketch too? For me the final battle should be epic! It's one reason why I love Twilight's Kingdom so much. Besides the pacing and the layout of the movie (it was so bad it felt like one of Haber's two-parters because that's his biggest weakness), the final battle to me didn't feel all that great. Overall I felt the movie was just okay. I am not even getting the movie because it's not rewatchable to me since it was only 'okay'. I am glad I saw it, but it was a major disappointment. You're actually more generous then I am. One of my fav reviewers does purely animated features and he's a non-brony and while he loved the visuals, the characters, story, and music were subpar, which I agree on, so he gave it a 6/10, which is how I would rank it. I myself personally compared it to other fantasy adventure movies geared for general audiences and yeah, I prefer others (including the original MLP movie from the 80s) to this.
You know it's funny, looking at the movie a second and third time, I did notice some flaws you normally wouldn't see around the first time. But honestly I still the movie is great despite these problems. I guess it just comes down to being happy that The MLP Movie finally got released in theaters worldwide. Maybe to an outsider of the fandom the flaws might be more of a problem, but honestly some things can be forgiven. But if I were to give it a rating I'd reduce my original rating of 8.5/10 to a 7.5/10.
pinkie brakes the forth wall simple 1) they are near the ocean 2) pinkie brakes the forth wall 3) pulls everyone with her to canterlot 4) brake the forth wall again and gets a cake for the pirates to hide in
I wish you had talked more about the original villain being Cosmos. I shall. Having the villain be the royal sisters' brother would've been a great concept, as it would expand more of both Celestia and Luna's origins and the Alicorns as a whole, not to mention giving us our first male Alicorn. But it would also have given us yet another never before mentioned sibling like Shining Armor, Maud Pie, and Zephyr Breeze. This movie is often accused of using the same clichés that the show used too much and Cosmos would not have helped things. We also already have an evil brother in the franchise, Tirek. The movie would still have had some similarities to Twilight's Kingdom regardless. Did you say Tempest was supposed to be him? Then does this mean the Storm King was an original creation?
The argument could be made that while the princess are powerful They arent good at combat I mean how many videos are there of big beefy guys getting beaten up by people much smaller than them Raw power will only get you so far Thats why we have -the wonderbolts -the elements -the royal guard They are rulers but not warriors
Tis is true, but just look at Celestia and Nightmare Moon fighting in the season 4 opener^^ (or a Royal problem in which Celestia states that she can nightmare Moon on). They can't be completely useless
Tricky Fox maybe they are equal in combat to each other But when it comes to someone with real tact they are inferior Itd be a good analysis video Wink wink nudge nudge
Tempest I think has more magcial power than all 4 Princcesses, the Storm King's sceptre with 4 Alicorns worth of magic power when collided with Tempest's exploded knocking them both back, which assumes they are of roughly equal strength but considering the Storm's King probably heavier due to his larger size she may be more powerful than the 4 Princesses.
I wonder if someday they’ll use Mendax in a different mlp movie or maybe he’ll show up in mlp season 8 or 9 to fill a different role after the current mlp movie I mean the idea they had going for him seemed pretty good at the time twitterponies.wikia.com/wiki/Mendax so I hope they can work it out to fit it in with future seasons or movies of mlp fim.
Hey why not do a video on chimera OCS I mean come on I have a chimera oc names well all of the heads have a different name but the main name is golden splash and it's part dragon part goat and part lion
Well rumor has it the movie characters might appear in season 8...........................but I'd take that with a grain of salt. This is the company with apparently worse security than HBO.
The movie is really good for the fans and I couldn't be happy about it. Now the issues and all that, that is really up to debate with many fans but overall, it was fun watching this in the theater's with the fans and families. Also so glad storm king didn't got the friendship redemption and its a total shock he fucking died. Ya he is dead.
Hey fox next time you voice two characters make sure they at lease sound different otherwise it sounds like you’re talking to yourself like maybe next time put the other character in a pitch higher or lower.
funny thing i actually completely forgot about Rite for the lognest tiem and when i was remidneed of her existence i was like "oh she looks like a genderswapped version of my OC"
having the 2nd guy that is too easily clearly just the same guy w/o any real voice modulation.... Sorry but for something this long you might should have KINDA changed the other character's voice a bit. You ain't monotone but the vid as a whole starts to be a bit. ^-< Speaking of variation, have you thought of working more commonly used German language terms and phrasing in that we could over time learn from? I'd love to learn more German and Russian given the chance. :3
I personally hated My Little Pony: The Movie, because it's way too happy all the time! The songs were meh, even Open Your Eyes (Fight Me!). Also, it's based off of My Little Pony (which I hate so much!).
If you hate My Little Pony overall, then why even click on the frickin video in the first place? It makes no sense at all, it's just nothing more than you spreading hate comments on different videos.

Tricky Fox I think I see what you mean.
Gotta admit it's amazing to see how much content was scrapped. But i'll still say I think that this film is good despite all the issues it has.
I don't get how people think the Storm King is a bad villain. He is the Emperor Palpatine of the franchise (With Tempest Shadow as Darth Vader). seth moss Killing his henchmen doesn't necessarily make him smart.
she was suppose to be luna and celestia's BROTHER?!?!?!!?

seth moss I call bs on those defenses.
Also, maybe the staff shouldn't have said that the movie takes place in between season 7 and 8.
And yet you don't explain why they are bs or make an alternative story
seth moss The real reason? Bad timing (movie was being made before Seasons 5-7), which I can forgive.
That, and bad writing.
I generally enjoyed the movie myself, Tricky Fox.
