Celestia's confidence was shaken when she got blasted unconscious by Queen Chrysalis, and is fearful of loosing her empire now. She stepped in and fought Chrysalis in Twilight's place because she didn't believe Twi would be strong enough to defeat her on her own, and probably was terrified that they had lost everything when she woke up in the cocoon. She had always planned that Twilight would be their protector, but at this point decided that she had to stop being so soft on her and push her to become stronger so she could face threats that were beyond Celestia's power.
A good idea, and I'd like to challenge it to go further: The Mane 6 have been the strength behind Twilight in every conflict, and Twilight couldn't have won without them. So why would Celestia forbid her former student from enlisting their support?
Because as an Allicorn she's immortal, she must learn to do it without them eventually. Better to do it now than to fail when she needs them and they're too old to help.
DazeDream Ah! No one has said she's immortal. Even if she were, I doubt she'd stop making friends over her life. And she needed their help in the end, so if the goal were to teach her to act alone then it did not succeed. She won because she chose her friends over power.
Most generally assume Allicorns are inherently immortal, since Celestia ruled for over a thousand years but I suppose it's true that immortality is unconfirmed for Twilight. As for her choice, maybe that was the point. Maybe Celestia knew they needed one more key, expected Discord's betrayal and in turn Tirek's betrayal of Discord and engineered a situation where the friends would be hostages so she would get the key.
"Maybe they should make me an Alicorn princess" -Discord "And I know just the princess to stop them" hehehe. Im preeeety sure were thinking of the same thing
The part where she battles Tirok never bothered me. Before she was trying to control how much magic she used so as not to seem different than before but was unable to because it was the combined magic of four alicorns. The magic could be contained like before resulting in controllable bursts of it. During the battle Twilight was not trying to control it, she was giving it her all and letting it all run loose and besides I think shooting a beam of magic is all simpler than teleportation.
Do people really complain about that? Not only was it epic, but her library just got destroyed! She only just managed to save owlicious! That's a big deal! However, it would have been better if she reverted to her nightmare form during the fight. I am quite sure she has one.
14:39 "She's kickin' you up and down the landscape." (Silver-Quill stomped on) Screen suddenly cuts to "An error has occurred, please try again later."
Until the finale, I kept thinking that the old castle was going to become Twilight's castle. They'd spent so much time there, at least in the beginning of the season, I thought that that's what they were building to.
12:27 In the comics, Celestia confesses to Spike that she has always had the power to solve these problems on her own, but deliberately removed herself so as to allow Twilight to save the day.

5:10 I'd like to bring a different perspective to light. I interpreted the song in a different way - instead of the theme being 'You are a princess now, therefore everything will be fine', I saw it as, 'You will find a way to make things right, as you have done before; that is why you are a princess'. We've seen Twilight struggle with conflicts before. While I can think of no problems that exactly fit this one, we've seen that she is capable of beating the odds and pulling through to a good ending. She became a princess BECAUSE she was able to fix a problem, and the song could simply be saying that she has proven herself strong enough to deal with this situation. :)
Twilight is confusing: She sings a song about how much she misses her brother and how much they mean to each other, but not once has she made any attempt to speak with him after becoming a princess, nor he.

*Paused at **14:15** to comment* My explanation for Twi's sudden ability to control the power is, simply, wrath. She lost her friends, she lost her, family, she lost her mentor and now her home and precious books. too young to wake every morning at 4:00 in the morning for the hidden 1:30 anime hour special of the biggest private tv channel of your country just to watch goku, megaman and the rest of the classic kicking ass without ads because the producers were also fans and they were using the unrated! anw, too young to actually lived DBZ
So many memories were made in those polished wooden peach-colored walls and stacks of hardbacks.... I shamelessly admit that I am going to miss the hell out of that library.
11:48 “And keep the change hidden from her friends… because Celestia said so” Just like with the Crystal Empire. Maybe Twilight should just learn that Celestiaʼs advice on this topic is bad.
11:23 -Hostage? For who? They rid themselves of their power and for all he knows, they're gone for good. They're useless to him. As for information, I think that it's likely that the Princesses wouldn't break so easily even if he suspected that they were up to something.
Plus, as for Twilight not being known by him, I believe that Tirek would've stayed out of the public's eye for sometime since a creature like him would stick out like a sore thumb, cloaked or not. As such, he'd miss Twilight's coronation. Plus, Discord has this "but you didn't ask" thing when it comes to this sort of stuff and Celestia knows that well enough to bet on it. As for the window stain? It was a bit of a rushed plan. Oversights were likely. Though it'd be hilarious if there was a scene with the princesses and it dawns on them.
You know. Now that I re-watch this AfF for probably the third time, I realized something. You should have gained your cutie mark during that child-flashback.
I think that when you think about the fact that Twilight was basically chosen for the title of Princess instead of being born with it, then You'll Play Your Part feels more like and encouragement to the fact she was chosen for a reason, because they beleive she is capable of great things, not only because she is a princess... to me, its more about the trust they have on her than the trust on her title.
sivler quill I think Discord's wink to the princess was a sign of a plan those two had for Twilight to unlock her and her friends rainbow connection cause that's is more mind blowing that way and I loved you castle being built by her friends idea it was awesome I love your mlp reviews they are fun
+DeathGodRiku Hahahahahahahahahahahathat was a joke, right? Let's just be real, there's no one that gets owned more than Krillin in DBZ Abridged. It's Krillin.
Funny thing about the Aizen Syndrome. Think about how you play videogames, especially RPGs. When the enemies have your level, you carefully plan your party, carefully pick your spells and budget your resources. But when you are stronger, you just mash the attack button. Discord manipulates for the sake of manipulating, but for Tirek it is just a tool to achieve his goals.
12:15 You say princess Celestia changed after the changeling attack? Became less helpful, more restrictive? More of a roadblock? 😱 Luna's beard! Celestia is a changeling in disguise!
This was like watching a movie: It made me laugh, It made me cry. Taught me something new that didn't feel like an after school special Made me Laugh again! And then want to watch it again. Also, Buy Our Toys!!!!!
Hey, I know folks rag on the whole "Everfree losing its teeth" thing but did anyone give this a thought? The Tree of Harmony was supposed to be keeping back the Everfree Forest in the first place. Zecora's Plot Convenience Potion showed Celestia saying that "Even without the Elements, the tree will have enough power" to keep doing so. So from the sound of it, the tree has been holding back the forest while running at partial strength for over one-thousand years. And then at the start of this season *Twilight and the others put the Elements back*. My head canon? Recharged Tree with Elements equals Everfree Forest falling under a lot more control than before. Which is why it's been so much less dangerous in Season 4.
9:29-10:27 Most seem to dislike Celestia, Luna, and Cadence giving their alicron magic to Twilight. If you ask me, that was a smart play. Reason(s): If the pricnesses (minus Twilight) fight Tirek when he arrives in the Canterlot castle, there's a chance he steals their magic too. And if Twilight's friends still get trapped in a cage and have their magic (and eventually Discord's) stolen, then Twilight would stand no chance of even being on par with Lord Tirek. Not only that, but Tirek only considers a trade (which ends up being Twilight element challenge) because Twilight with the magic of 4 alicorns is just as powerful as Tirek with the rest of the magic in Equestria
17:40 Yeah, Meghan said that the flowers were more of an apology, but she never said anything about Discord NOT having feelings for Celestia. ;) THERE'S STILL HOPE!
No she hate Dislestia and i heard rumors about Scorpan/Celestia, at least that what Larson was joking about like 3 times in his panel in Germany convention
Remember the video where the fans asked about them 2 like in the past and the break up caused Discord to bring chaos and they just said "oh is that an elephant in the room?" and ignored the question?
4:31 i didn't see it so much as placing focus on titles as it did state how while each of the other princesses have a main and important role, twilight does nothing, this shows her desire to be doing something worthy of being a princess. yes this connects to her title of princess, but for anyone in a role of any kind, it is a lesson to step up and do something worth while with the role you've been given instead of just sitting back, doing nothing, and just accepting the benefits of said role.
My 4 yr old made a point, what about all the other magical creatures? Does the baddy just want pony magic or all magic? And what about dragons? (I'm asking for a little kid, so plz be nice)
It's hard to say because we don't know how magic effects other creatures. Timberwolves are definitely magical. Maybe Tirek would have gone after them next. The thing about greed is that it's never satisfied. Tirek would always hunger for more.
I rather liked that they brought back a G1 villain but he kinda scared my little one at first. I never really noticed how violent kids cartoons were back in the day. Sometimes i wonder if they are still even trying to write for little kids. As a brony myself I can see both sides to wanting more for the show and yet keep it simple and kid friendly. I think they are finding a nice balance but it seems to be a really fine line.
"What, you think I'm just giving these away? Cause I'm not." ~TFS DBZ Krillin I can't stop busting a chuckle each time you add a TFS DBZ to some of your more recent episodes. Keep it up.
Here is what I have to say about 12:53 Welp... Not the first time Q has lost his powers. Some of you may try and correct me and say it's Discord but let's face the facts. Discord has very similar powers, an identical personality and tendency to teach the main characters a lesson through some rather roundabout and unusual means, and the same actor, John DeLancie. It's also known that Lauren Faust based Discord on Q from Star Trek: The Next Generation and wrote him with John DeLancie in mind to play the character.
That comment that Discord likes Celestia might be true. When I watched the season 7 premiere, one of the pictures on Twlight's mirror showed Discord and Celestia hanging out together.
16:49 - Eh, it sounds nice but I think it goes without saying that Twilight would know that her kingdom's full of friends at this point. No need to really hammer it in. Plus, after defeating Tirek, Twilight deserved to be rewarded.
I still find it stupid that people complain that Twilight was able to use the alicorn magic so well in the fight. She wasn't trying to control it she was trying to hide it people and when Tirek knew she had it there was no point in hiding any longer so she let it all out. Sure she didn't have much control over her teleporting and flying and she also had trouble lifting the sun but those are easily explainable. Say you just suddenly got super strength and were suddenly crushing stuff and punching holes in the walls, you have control of your strength, you just can't hold it back. Its like Dash from the Incredibles holding back his speed at the end to not blow his cover. He could control his speed he just had a hard time slowing it down. As for not being able to list the sun well that isn't her talent and even with god mode she has never done it. Of course she is gonna have trouble with it.
Personally I like to connect the problem with Twilight using the magic back to Season 1. Specifically Boast Busters. When Twilight is doing a spell on Spike she requires IMMENSE CONCENTRATION. But since we know ponies can only have X amount of magic equivalent to Y amount of concentration. It was only after Tirek blew up her house was she able to devote her full attention TO him. In other words she was CONCENTRATED on him thus she was better able to use the magic.
Surprised I didn't say this when I first watched this review, but there could be another intention behind the DBZ fight. Notice how Celestia makes sure never to have to actually get violent? Now look at the end result of Twilight going all out with the power of all four Alicorns. Total destruction of the area the fight took place in. Perhaps a main reason Celestia doesn't get involved is because she is fully aware that if she lost control of her emotions during a fight, she could very well kill everyone and everything around her. Just a thought.
In the same way each of the others were tested, Twilight had to be tested. The others' were tested against their elements, and Twilight was tested against everything she learned of friendship, which is magic, her true element.
Twilight Sparkle is concerned about her farts and is feeling depressed. But there's no time do dwell as Equestria's in danger from the evil farts and the royal ponies cannot help. Twilight travels to farts to try to help, where she becomes separated from her friends and all seems lost. The villain's arrogance creates an opening, and her friends reunite to defeat their enemy with the power of farts. That conveniently solves everything. Twilight learns a lesson that answers her personal dilemma, as she's rewarded with the new farts.
My interpretation: When Celestia had all of the alicorns give their power to Twilight, she was betting that one 12 was better than four 3s. She was desperate, yes, but she also wanted to avoid Tirek doing a divide-and-conquer on the four alicorns, taking each one's power one at a time, becoming even more difficult to stop with each consumption. With Discord there, it was perfectly plausible that Tirek could win if he could eat the meal in four bite-sized chunks rather than one giant bite. Either that or she thought Twilight would be more adept at using her magic to fight than the others, which is a reasonable assumption given that Twilight's talent is magic. I... don't really get why she couldn't tell her friends or why Celestia wouldn't take a hammer or something to the stainglass windows of Twilight, but whatever.
Hey, just saying, but the song "Play your part" or whatever, is not about saying everything is gonna be fine because "She's a princess!". No, its more like You are a princess BECAUSE you will play a big role. Not the other way around.
Well there better than what the toys first showed us but they could of been a little better. Prob less giant hair and no extra cutie marks. But I prefer the elements.
Twilight Sparkle is concerned about her fandom and is feeling depressed. But there’s no time to dwell as Equestrian is in danger from the evil silver quill and the Royal Ponies can not help. Twilight travels to youtube to try and help, but she becomes separated from her friends and all seems lost. the villain’s arrogance creates an opening and the friends reunite to defeat their enemy with the power of blackmail that conveniently solves everything. Twilight learns a lesson that answers her personal dilemma and she is rewarded with a new potato
One small error at 6:18 - I think you're confusing prophecy (seeing the future) with clairvoyance (seeing things happening in one place while the "viewer" is someplace completely different). It's still a good theory.
To be fair Cadance sings "You stand here for a reason, you're gifted and you are strong. Your crown is upon your head because you belong." so I think the writers probably intended to communicate that it isn't all about titles but I agree that it didn't translate as well as it could have.
Also, the castle ends up being very enigmatic like the chest. I feel like it adds intrigue. It even seems indifferent to the characters with it's own goals. Whatever it is, it could even be dangerous.
and the plan might have been intentionally flawed by design. considering the desperation and the nature of tirek's vampiric abilities, fighting him was too damn dangerous. he was strong enough to confidently attempt to steal celestia's magic when he charged in. more than likely the fight would have been a defeat if he simply got his hands on just one of them to tip the scale. and twilight and cadance would be far more vulnerable targets compared to celestia and luna. a desperate plan has a thousand flaws and even more risks. the stain glass and discord were overlooked because celestia had focused on tirek's threat. heck we have seen before that when her focus is too divided she overlooks things. the canterlot wedding swituation was her dealing with her neice's wedding and focusing on a threat against canterlot as well.
Oh so that's why everyone was asking me in the comments of my review why I didn't mention Dragon Ball Z. Everyone else had done it! Yes because that's really what makes for a original review, copying everyone else! I don't get why people harp on about the new castle as just a new toy to sell, isn't that exactly what the treehouse was? One other minor thing, Twilight looks in her books for something about the box because that's what Twilight does. When she needs to know something, she looks in her books. I don't think it's inconceivable that there might have been something like the box before. I was hoping you might talk about her new title "princess of friendship". Also odd that you don't seem too bothered by how the new castle looks, but more by how it came to be. Which I don't think really matter in the long term, it's what they plan to do with it that matters.
Indeed, every local from Sugarcube Corner to Carousel Boutique is a playset waiting to happen. I think the castle draws more attention because they made a greater spectacle of its appearance. Don't really go for the castle's crystal look (rustic aesthetic and all that), but I get that crystals are the in thing with MLP right now. Thing is, I really do believe you can sell the toy better if there's more weight to it. A gift from a nation has more meaning than a gift from a detached magical source. As for "Princess of Friendship", that mostly falls under the episode's reliance on titles. Until we get to see how Twilight acts, it's really nothing more than a slogan. Gotta see what happens in season 5, as you say.
MLP-Silver-Quill I have to agree with you on the crystal castle; it looks pointy and uncomfortable. Twilight's old home actually suited her well. Does this princess live in a castle? No, she's got a loft in the local library; it's kind of frumpy, filled with books, and has a bunch of random trinkets all over the place. This isn't the home of a politician, it's the home of a smart mare who's done well being the studious nerd she is. I'd have been content if Twilight moved into the old castle after the library got blown up. That would make sense, it had been foreshadowed since the beginning of the season, Twilight would like being at the next-largest library in the area, and it's probably a good idea to have someone near the Tree of Harmony anyway. I'm not a fan of the Tower of Uncomfortable Angular Chairs.
WyvernYT I honestly don't care about the new castle and I never did. I just want to see how the writers handle it in the episode where Twilight talks about her tree.
that scene at the start when kid silver started picking apart transformers, it is my headcannon that this is how Silver achieved his cutie mark
Apparently so.
Yes! That makes a lot of sense

It would be interesting if they made an episode where Twilight is really unable to save the day, leaving Celestia to do it.
Comics are not canon and damage control applied by comic writers is not a good way to defend her flawed character
Really? That's pretty crappy of her as a ruler.
MrConredsX They are canon but yes that is not a excuse ether. But its not something that is worth raging about.

That conveniently solves everything. Twilight learns a lesson that answers her personal dilemma, as she's rewarded with the new Butt.
13:37 "there's no loss of life" TREES ARE LIVING THINGS!!!!!
Why oh why didn't I make a Dragonball reference, WHY!?
Don't worry Antony, your still awesome!
because you had over 9000 other things on your mind that time.
He also made a TFS DBZ Abridged reference as well. 14:31
too young to wake every morning at 4:00 in the morning for the hidden 1:30 anime hour special of the biggest private tv channel of your country just to watch goku, megaman and the rest of the classic kicking ass without ads because the producers were also fans and they were using the unrated!
anw, too young to actually lived DBZ
Because you're classy.
So many memories were made in those polished wooden peach-colored walls and stacks of hardbacks.... I shamelessly admit that I am going to miss the hell out of that library.
I think he banished the Princesses to Tartarus as a form of revenge-he was imprisoned there. So he put them there as a form of irony.
11:48 “And keep the change hidden from her friends… because Celestia said so”
Just like with the Crystal Empire.
5:38
Sounds like Darth Maul is back.
Oh wait, it's just Tirek....
celestia: "one of these days Silver-Quill, one of these days, POW! ZOOM! straight to the SUN!"

Who is John dellanci excatly? I only heard the name, sorry for my spelling on his name
Filip Lusth if you have seen Star Trek the next generation John Delancie is Q but in MLP he plays Discord
Filip Lusth the voice of Discord
sivler quill I think Discord's wink to the princess was a sign of a plan those two had for Twilight to unlock her and her friends rainbow connection cause that's is more mind blowing that way and I loved you castle being built by her friends idea it was awesome I love your mlp reviews they are fun
It was me! It was me...ALLLLL ALONG, TWILIGHT! XD
I have the same fanon on Discord's little scene!
I swear Silver, you get owned more than Krillin in DBZ Abridged
+DeathGodRiku Hahahahahahahahahahahathat was a joke, right?
Let's just be real, there's no one that gets owned more than Krillin in DBZ Abridged.
It's Krillin.

hey I watch that too
Ya you are right
Funny thing about the Aizen Syndrome.
For all you Pokemon fans out there...
The Mane 6 Mega Evolved! XD
But how could they do it at the same time? It's impossible
I know it's a joke, but pokemon logic

12:15 You say princess Celestia changed after the changeling attack? Became less helpful, more restrictive? More of a roadblock?
😱 Luna's beard! Celestia is a changeling in disguise!
This was like watching a movie:
It made me laugh,
It made me cry.
Taught me something new that didn't feel like an after school special
Made me Laugh again!
13:47 "NOT THE BEES!"
Not only that, but Tirek only considers a trade (which ends up being Twilight element challenge) because Twilight with the magic of 4 alicorns is just as powerful as Tirek with the rest of the magic in Equestria
flurryheart is an acorn... she! is the princess of merchandising!!!

Umm... did no else just see starlight’s four point star next to luna’s moon?8:16

Celestia has been turned into a pinata twice now in the series...reflecting on that is both profoundly humorous and fills me with melancholy.
"Princess of the sun, moon, and merchandise..."
Ha...haha....MERCHANDISE!
6:37 Yep, starswirl is gotta be there for historical events, i'm telling you.
17:40 Yeah, Meghan said that the flowers were more of an apology, but she never said anything about Discord NOT having feelings for Celestia. ;)
THERE'S STILL HOPE!
Don't believe her LIIIIIIIIESSSSSSSS!
The show gave us Seabreeze and Zephyr Breeze but an amazing piece of fanart gave us Silverbreeze
Why Silver?!
Why you bring up Prime's death!!!
**goes in corner to cry**
15:40 just be thankful they only used this for one other episode and thats it.
Why didn't I make that Firefly reference?! I'm a horrible Brown Coat. Also, SENZU BEAN!!
?
Nice TeamFourStar reference Sweetie Bloom! XD
I'm only restating the reference he made. I thought it was great!
Yeah. As a fan of Dragon Ball Z and TeamFourStar I found that scene to be very hilarious!
I made a point to not be one of the ones that made the DBZ reference since I knew everyone and their mother was going to do it.
First come first serve I guess. It also could be because he was locked away by ponies and wanted revenge.
Francine Taylor
Yes, and they are the most likely to stop him again.
Yea where was spike during this?????
"What, you think I'm just giving these away? Cause I'm not." ~TFS DBZ Krillin
I can't stop busting a chuckle each time you add a TFS DBZ to some of your more recent episodes. Keep it up.
Here is what I have to say about 12:53
Welp...
1:04
AWWWWWWWW, BABY!SILVER

Bravo, Silver. Just bravo.
SENZU BEAN!!! "laughs so hard that am die"
Plus, The Cutie Map sorta shows that the castle has more of a purpose outside of just merch.
How many people who complained about that did you meet? All I see are people who didn't like the fight scene for being ultimately pointless.
Tyrone Bryant
I guess its not the biggest compliant but I still saw people in comment sections complain about it.
Wow. Best DBZA reference ever.
I about hurt myself laughing.
With what we've seen about Daybreaker, this theory does hold some merit.
Aw... Twilight's face at 0:20 was so sad that it almost made me cry!

11:43 the pond is still full despite it being underwater. Gg.
In the same way each of the others were tested, Twilight had to be tested. The others' were tested against their elements, and Twilight was tested against everything she learned of friendship, which is magic, her true element.

124scratch Nice. XD
124scratch i am luaghing soooooo much that i am crying! TWILIGHT HAS FARTS
god... you a GENESS!!!!!!!!! ;) :)
124scratch the power of farts.
00:09 do you realize you hurt the princess of friendship feelings look at her cute pony face daaahhh!!!!!!
Sorry Silver, but there's a new princess of merchandising on the block. 😆

Am i the only one who likes the Rainbow Power designs?
ne mate, ye aren`t the only one
It always comes down to personal preference. I'm not a fan, yet my opinion is hardly law. It's good that there are people do enjoy the designs.
Well there better than what the toys first showed us but they could of been a little better. Prob less giant hair and no extra cutie marks. But I prefer the elements.
***** RD was kinda cool. I wonder if they can transform at will now since the elements had to be together in order to work.
How else is Hasbro gonna pitch their new toy line?

7:30 Candice is like: How could this happen to me? :P
One small error at 6:18 - I think you're confusing prophecy (seeing the future) with clairvoyance (seeing things happening in one place while the "viewer" is someplace completely different). It's still a good theory.
0:11:38: water is in fountain so water under water

To be fair Cadance sings "You stand here for a reason, you're gifted and you are strong. Your crown is upon your head because you belong." so I think the writers probably intended to communicate that it isn't all about titles but I agree that it didn't translate as well as it could have.
Is it bad that it's 1:00am and still watching your vids? 😂
I don't see a problem with that. Sleep is for the weak. :3
ThatAwkwardArtist sleep is for the weak....*falls asleep at **4:50** am*
Also, Silver Quill, when will you review the Season 5 opener?
All day today, I was thinking "Hey, I wonder when Silver Quill will upload his next video?". And then it happened. I AM PSYCHIC!
Also, the castle ends up being very enigmatic like the chest.
I feel like it adds intrigue. It even seems indifferent to the characters with it's own goals.
Whatever it is, it could even be dangerous.
I like the face applejack made when flutter shy cried and then she got back at him like Applejack you're savage.
Funny, but too much complaining
Good episode, good villain, good Rainbow Power designs, good castle design, good everything except Celestia's plan
and the plan might have been intentionally flawed by design. considering the desperation and the nature of tirek's vampiric abilities, fighting him was too damn dangerous. he was strong enough to confidently attempt to steal celestia's magic when he charged in. more than likely the fight would have been a defeat if he simply got his hands on just one of them to tip the scale. and twilight and cadance would be far more vulnerable targets compared to celestia and luna.
a desperate plan has a thousand flaws and even more risks. the stain glass and discord were overlooked because celestia had focused on tirek's threat. heck we have seen before that when her focus is too divided she overlooks things. the canterlot wedding swituation was her dealing with her neice's wedding and focusing on a threat against canterlot as well.
Im furious because you laughed at the explosion of twilight's library
I bet Cadence loves that Shining Armor photo.
I would be saying this if the Air Dates weren't so far apart:
5:40
Did anybody else got some Darth Maul vibes from that?
