I LOVE the detail you provided in this video, so very helpful. It looks like you are calculating a 1 inch seam allowance for each of the seams, which seems incredibly large. Did I understand your process, that you are using 1 inch seam allowance for each seam?. So that I don't have to have a seam down my center front, I think I need to split the circles to make the pockets and the zipper, so I will be adding those in, but as I use 1/2" seam allowance, I don't think it changes the calculation, but I'll re-check it before I cut. I will be making a longer skirt than you did (you did I think a 19" and I need ~30" to include hem) so have to do lots of 1/2 circles due to 42" wide fabric, but using your very carefully laid out math, I think I can do this.... thank you!
I smiled while reading this. Thank you so much for your kind words. Yes I use 1 inch seam allowance for the side seams and center back. This is because it was a bespoke skirt and the owner requested I added enough incase she changes in size. You can use half inch for your seam allowances. All the best ❤️
Hi I'm still waiting for my answer of my half circle boxpleated skirt can i make in a half circle or must it be a full circle for box pleated can you plz show me how to calculate for half thank you
Thanks for this tutorial, pls can I use this method for single pleats(instead of box pleats) and the joining won't show cos I see a lot of long pleated circle skirts without joining and I wonder how they do that knowing most fabrics are 60inches in length, thanks upon your reply
Can some explain the 44-19 part describing the full length? Is this a calculation I should be making? Usually I just add my length on to my radius when I’m cutting
The total length from shoulder to ankle is 44" because she is making a dress. The person should to waist measurement that she is making the dress for is 19". So she subtracted the 19" from the total 44" to get the length of the skirt (waist to ankle/floor) measurement
Plz help me for the half circle skirt floor length boxpleated skirt what is my radius 87cm skirt length is 105cm and I want 10 boxpleated for the skirt thanks
Sorry I want to make a half circular box pleating skirt so my waist is 87cm and my length of the skirt is 105cm then I want 10 boxpleated so I want to know want is my radius thanks
Hi, just to confirm, at 13:45 you left 5" right? Which is the 4" half pleat plus the side seam allowance. Because youre only talking about leaving out 4" on the video
For a half circle, you will have to divide your waist by 3.14 inches. This will give you a radius that after cutting, it will give you your waist measurement
The original style is a gown. But I used the down part of the gown for this tutorial assuming it's a skirt. The full length of the gown is 44 inches, and the measurement of the shoulder to waist (half length) is 19 inches. So to get the length of the skirt which is the down part of the gown, I did 44-19 which is 25 inches.
I folded it twice to get the dull circle because most fabric width are not long enough to accommodate the desired width for a circle skirt. But if you are making this in a miniature size, then you can cut the circle once with a 60 inches width wide fabric.
Thank you very much this is so helpful 🤩 I actually spoilt a fabric trying to cut a full circle pleated dress. Got a new fabric and I can’t wait to use your tutorial to achieve the desired style
No. It's part of the design and your decision to make. That way you can have a six, eight, ten or even twelve pleats depending on your preference. The more the number of pleats, the smaller the boxes becomes. And of course the calculations for determining width of each boxes changes.
It's a constant formula for generation of radius of a circle. Circumference of a circle = 2πr. Circumference being the round waist line in this case. So if you do the calculations to find the value of radius (r) from the equation, you will end up with circumference divided by 6.28 as the answer😂 This might sound like a lot, so just know that 6.28 is a constant.
Thank u soo much ma'am now I understand everything n I will do as soon as possible. InshAllah
Wonderful explanation. Exactly what i was looking for. Thanks a bunch
You are welcome. Thanks for watching

Fantastic job. Thanks.
Nice skirt but I want to make floor feel box pleated circle skirt
Thank you. The same thing is applicable. The only thing that changes is the length of the skirt. Every other calculations remains same.
If you mean a floor length, that will consume a whole lot of fabric. You should bear that in mind though. All the best with your project.
Nice job dear what kind of fabric did you use
Mikado silk
Thanks cc and God bless
Thanks I'm going to make it with out side seam only a back seam for the zip thank you so much and sorry to be a nuisance
What is my radius for the boxpleated skirt thank you

Thank you so much for the video and explanations, really helps me with my current project 🩷
Thanks for watching. I'm glad it was of help to you.

Thank You so much for this illustration. Please did you cut both front and back piece separately?
Yes, I cut them separately because of the pocket
thank you ma
@@uwebyanurithe video you showed the cutting was for the front
19.25 was only for front peace or you separated them after cutting
Your name caught my fancy
Uwe by Anuri
But the by 🤔
I don't get you? What's up with the 'by'
Please I want to ask. Did you add 1"allowance again at the back for the zip apart from the 1" each that was added for the zip during drafting?
No I didn't add another one for the zip. Everything was added during that calculation I did
Hi I cut the skirt came nice thank you so much
I'm glad you succeeded with your project ☺️
Tho i didnt understand. I love how detailed it is
Thank you for the observation. What part seems unclear? Maybe I can explain further
@@uwebyanuri the calculation part

How much cloth required for making this skirt for a 4 yr old baby with waist 25 and height 17"
Nice

Hi, just to confirm, at 13:45 you left 5" right? Which is the 4" half pleat plus the side seam allowance. Because youre only talking about leaving out 4" on the video
Yes. 4 inches is for the pleat on the side, and the extra 1 inch is for the side seam allowance.
@@uwebyanuri thank you so much for the clarity
My fabric is 150cm wide and is 5metr
How can i make it a half circular box pleating skirt pattern
For a half circle, you will have to divide your waist by 3.14 inches. This will give you a radius that after cutting, it will give you your waist measurement
Is this a full circle skirt or a half circular skirt plz tell me
It's a full circle skirt
Can u plz tell how many meters material did you take for this skirt pattern
I used 3 and half yards of fabric
The full length of skirt is 44inches but how it is possible the half length is 19inches.i can't understand.plz can u clear this point.
The original style is a gown. But I used the down part of the gown for this tutorial assuming it's a skirt. The full length of the gown is 44 inches, and the measurement of the shoulder to waist (half length) is 19 inches.

How many times should you fold the fabric please

@@toosweetpad9851 I can't wait to hear your testimony
All the best 💖
Please after cutting did you divide it into two?
Can you plz tell me this skirt is there side seam
Yes there is side seam. If your fabric is very wide then it can accommodate cutting it completely without division.
Please did you cut the fabric twice
Yes I did. One for the front and one for the back
So does it mean that the pleat size is decided randomly
No. It's part of the design and your decision to make. That way you can have a six, eight, ten or even twelve pleats depending on your preference. The more the number of pleats, the smaller the boxes becomes.
And of course the calculations for determining width of each boxes changes.
hello, what do I do if I want to add more pleat
Calculate it with your desired number of pleats
Pls how did u get 6.28 in 9:52
