It's true, most people only treat the symptoms and won't deal with the root causes. Lifestyle is EVERYTHING!

    "Un-shit food" got me 😂
This is a powerful video - more people need to be told this.

I think it's a vicious circle. If you're depressed you're more likely to eat processed food or foods that are high in sugar, because they give you at least a little bit of dopamin. I think people in general probably eat too much carbohydrates. Also I'm not a big fan of anti depressants. They have tons of side effects and studies don't show a great effectiveness. I'm watching your videos because I'm not in the best place right now and I think I miss being part of a community. I think it's extremely important to be part of a community, even if it's online. The feeling of belonging is very important, at least for me. I think all of the things you said resonated with me. I've met quite a few depressed people in my life and they all had a very bad diet, weren't active and somewhat lonely.

@@alwaysbraum Up to december 2022. 2022 was an amazing year, I had a good time pretty much the whole year and then I had conflicts with multiple people of the community, so I left. It was the right decision but it still didn't feel good. So right now I'm trying to meet new people and get in contact with old friends.

I gotta say, I really enjoy practical advice like this because it’s stuff you can easily understand. Applying it can be much harder though. For folks with depression (especially during a major depressive episode) some days feel like you can barely even get out of bed, let alone exercise, eat well, leave the house, or socialize. That said, as long as you don’t feel that bad all the time, seize those moments where you’re feeling a little better, and make those changes. Or even just do any one of those healthy lifestyle choices, even if it only lasts a moment! Peace and strength to everyone going through it. Good luck you all!

Thanks for the insight and glad the video helped in some way. I don't mean to come across as insensitive, I've been in some low places myself. What I mean in this video is that the only thing that got me out of a hole was action.
I think a lot of people wait to feel better before taking action and most of the time, it's the other way around.

Thia video inspired me and hurt my feelings all at the same time. The accuracy in which you described me was too spot on

I deal with depression and when I went on vacation for 7 days I walked all day long and I noticed that my depression went away for those 7 days, then it came back when I returned to my usual lifestyle. 😅

Good sleep, low carb, an hour walk (with hills better) near daily and stay off the booze. After bad alcohol withdrawals with about 10 nights of insomnia, feeling better now. Bit of an introvert, so small social interactions outside my friendship group, are OK and helpful for my self esteem to an extent. Best wishes all.🙂

I've definitely been trying to make smaller changes. Not so much because I'm dealing with depression but just because I want to create a healthier lifestyle and would like to also show my, currently 3 year old, daughter better habits. So I've been trying to throw in a little exercise, trying to drink more water, etc. Probably my biggest problem is not giving myself enough sleep.
I think in regards to depression though. Many people probably do find anti-depressants helpful in order to get their life back on track. I know that there are definitely times when I've felt depressed before in the past, and, exactly as you mentioned, it's so easy to just...well, do the easy things be that ordering out food or sitting on the couch binging Netflix. But you're definitely right, when it is possible to get out of your own head, I think it's imperative to make the changes that actually can be made rather than dwelling on the things that are impossible to change.

I think you only realize how hard depressions are when you have them or when you are in a very bad situation. But eating shit food is more likely because it helps you feel better. I ate very healthy and clean. Since my girlfriend passed away 2 months ago suddenly out of nowhere (heart attack with 35) i really eat way more shitty food than before. Its just helps, especially the sugar.

Bit judgemental Jay and I really enjoy your videos.
You seem to be describing "What's eating Gilbert grape" when reality is a bit different I suspect.
I think the problem is fundamentally if you get into depression and become isolated it becomes a vicious circle where looking after yourself by exercising and eating well become harder to do. I'd hasten to add as well if you're single and depressed I bet you're more likely to have unhealthy lifestyles.
On the flip side, many who have have depression, anxiety or loneliness try to "out exercise" the demons, you see it all the time.
The nhs and GPs in particular are very quick to prescribe anti depressants and anti anxiety medication without pursuing other avenues because demand can't be met. They also don't fully inform people of the severity of the side effects which can include weight gain which will lead to worst self image etc.
Economics also come into it in the UK at the moment where the cost of living crisis has spiralled out of control and seen people's incomes and/or benefits very badly shocked and squeezed.
I'm sure there are plenty of people living impeccable live, exercising, eating healthily but still riddled with depression, anxiety and loneliness.

Wow I felt like Jesus spoke through you my friend but hmm I live with siblings and they buy the food it's all shit and if I resist all the shit they make it like torture just watching it go to waste I'm not super man to resist enough and I'm in the environment of shit food so I guess I'm screwed lol 🤣 but the bible says exercise benefits a person very little what's more important are skills , knowledge wisdom of salvation and whenever you have energy and desire to exercise then I guess do it. Who wants to hang out with a therapist that's like a paid friend I'd rather create 6 wolf ranks spirits make them the friends I talk to and in time rule the world as Satan and be forgiven by Jesus for all have fallen short but also being the most talented when I rise as destined 😎 and maybe I won't die since I have no recollection of heaven so what am I at fault for ? All have fallen . Here I am rock you like a hurricane 🌧️🌧️ 🎶🎶🎸😎
