I'm not a motorbike rider, but a gravelcyclist. Exactly what I need for riding miles on gravel. Something that is tough.

I'm currently not into motorcycling, but I'm a firm believer of supporting South African product manufacturers. Another but....so many straps to secure your bags to a bike. I just watched a video from an overseas soft luggage manufacturer. NO straps! (except for MOLLE attachments). It's a very simple clip on /clip off system with pannier racks, so no undoing all the straps if you don't want to leave the bags on your bike. Maybe something to ponder for future products?

Hi Piet; Received the HippoHips today. When I opened the box, I thought there had been a mistake. These bags are super tough and look like SA Special Forces operational kit. Your video takes the guesswork out of installation. I estimate about an hour for a complete rookie. I know the bags fit many different bikes, but they have a look that perfectly complements the new 1250 GSA - aggressive, rugged, and sophisticated. It's obvious that a lot of experience and thinking went into their design and build. You could pay double your price and still not achieve this value, quality or functionality. I mounted them on the OEM pannier racks - do I need a heat shield?

      Dear 1730viking
Apologies for missing your post and hence only responding to you now. And thank you for the kind words about the Hippo Hips!
Depending on your setup, it could be a good idea to install a heat-shield over you exhaust, as that will most definitely prevent any damage should your bags ever touch the exhaust. However, if there is a gap of about 10cm between the exhaust and the bags, and provided the bags are fitted in such a way that it will never touch the exhaust, everything should be fine without a heat shield.
You are welcome to send us photos of your setup once it is fitted if you need us to confirm the above. Please send to info@turkanagear.com
      Thank you!

Hello. Guys. Thanks for the installation video. It’s a big help. One question. The bag on the right side of my 850gsa is very close to my muffler. I’m concerned about the heat melting the bag and/or straps. Is this going to be a problem?

Hi Bamawester - Firstly, apologies for the delayed response! Can you please confirm if you have the standard OEM BMW pannier racks? If so, we recommend using a mounting plate that we have available that fit onto the rack. This extends the surface mounting area on the exhaust side and also prevent the luggage from possibly being damaged by the exhaust heat. Shoot us an email at info@turkangear.com with your contact details and we will contact you.

Is there anyway I can fit HippoHips on my Honda Cb500x without hardware?

Hi Moto Pavilion - Apologies for the tardy reply! Unfortunately, we recommend that the Hippo Hips be fitted using a standard pannier rack, as that will provide the most secure fitment. Please keep an eye out on our Website for our new rackless soft luggage / pannier system that will be available early 2022 - its called "Mad Mules" - And feel free to drop us a line at "info@turkanagear.com" if you have more questions! Cool!

I've seen these on one of my friends' motorbikes, He is not so happy with it as it is overpriced, so many options available for less than the half of the price.
