    I am just amazed at the fidelity of this recording. I find the collaboration of Cortot, Thibaud and Casals absolutely breathtaking. I surmised while listening to this that the three were friends, and I wasn't wrong for a change. It's a joyous interpretation and my favorite!

    This is a 1928 recording, an early electronic one. It has surely been cleaned-up yet who did the work was amazing in preserving overtones and nuances.

    the most moving ever
    Casals boomingly gruff, Thibaud soaring and sharp, the filigiree of Cortot wonderful, at times skeletal, once sounding ragtimish...settle down
    the most joyous and saddest... the one I love completely.

    I cannot believe that this recording dates from 1928, it sounds so fresh and spontaneous. Until now I had considered the Kempff, Menuhin and Rostropovich live Paris version the best, but now I'm not so sure.

    Tempos eccentric at times but the delineation of the voices is admirable, with Thibaud's violin so mellifluous and Casals; cello superbly resonant. Cortot's maestoso feel for the slow movement and filigree passage work in the finale is memorable, in my view.

      +Ric Droz Gracias! for the comment. The archduke trio has a memorial quality of the composer, as well as the three chamber players, which haunts one, recalling how wretched his health was at the time if writing it. Mendelssohn's C Minor trio Opus 66, has similar meaning for me---at 88!

    So, so intimate...
    ...and I don't mean because it's "chamber music."
    Listening to this performance of this piece (completed in 1811; it sounds much later than that), I feel as though three friends of longstanding have gotten together to make some music, and we're allowed to eavesdrop.
    I researched this performance, and it seems to have been recorded in the late 1920's (at just about the time that "sound" was coming to the movies), which, given it's audio quality, I find utterly astounding.

    After listening to this version multiple times and comparing to several other interpretations, I have concluded that this is what the maestro intended. Of the others, I have heard the keyboard overpowers the intent of the strings as in the Barenboim/DuPre recording. It is unimaginable that this recording dates to 1928!

    Espléndida versión: un trío de gigantes...

  • @pedroa.cantero9449
    @pedroa.cantero9449 9 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    Si toda música supone un enigma, la de Beethoven alcanza valor señero. Él encarna la música como pocos lo lograran, cada una de sus composiciones prueba hasta qué punto dominaba técnica y expresión, meticulosamente y no menos dramáticamente. Poseído por el genio que le habitaba. Como prueba fehaciente este trío cuyo careo a tres bandas reenvía a la confrontación feroz, pues ningún instrumento acepta ser sometido hasta aunarse en una misma expresión, sin restar ímpetu y furia a la tentativa. Abismo de expresión aquí resuelto con exquisita sensibilidad. Ahí radica la clave del misterio: más allá de la forma, lo incógnito reside en su esencia indescifrable, pertenece al universo del imaginario, por sensitivo, él mismo abismal. Si mi confrontación con las sonatas fue brutal, no intenté descifrar su porqué, “sabiéndolo” irresoluble. La lección me valió una enseñanza inquebrantable, si solo en la inmersión se alcanza, me atengo a no salir indemne sin buscarle sentido al encuentro, con la precaución del buzo o del vigía. A este trío me acerco como al fuego, con recelo de abrasarme. Por esa razón, nunca quise escucharlo en vivo. Desde aquellos años alpinos, esta antigua grabación me permite acercarme sin temor a la hoguera, tan frágil es su materia sonora, tan humana. Me deleito sin abismarme. Sabiéndome quebradizo y no Ave Fénix . Abandono al mito su sentido. Ahora bien, si Fortuna me lo permitiese, quisiera que este trío acompañara en directo mi último viaje, para abandonarme sin peligro a su fuego. Luminaria o “llama viva” que alumbre la recta final .

    Toutes les grandes idées inspirées, musique, films, philosophie, inventions, révélations viennent toutes de l’inconscient collectif. C'est une vérité qui nous est révélée spontanément à l’écoute d'une telle inspiration et, qu’avec le temps nous devons vérifier par nous-même afin de savoir si un tel compositeur peut changer nos esprits et notre existence.

    "Much affected by the tragic death of his friend Enrique Granados in the torpedoing of Channel steamer the Sussex, in March, 1916, Casals helped to arrange a concert for the benefit of this victim of the 'humanitarian' methods of warfare, and a New York audience had the unique experience of hearing Ignace Paderewski, Fritz Kreisler, and Pablo Casals in trio - the great B-flat of Beethoven. All musical world and more crowded into the Metropolitan Opera House that night, while many others tried in vain for entrance." - Reprinted from Pablo Casals by Lillian Littlehales, by permission of W.W.
