- Addendum 13Jun2022 : Some idiot has been complaining about ads on this video. Look, I own this CD but that does not mean I own the copyright too. Since forever, the TH-cam business model has been to allow sharing of copyright-ed material on the understanding that 1. YT can insert ads wherever and whenever they like and 2. the ad revenue thus generated gets paid back to the rightful artists/copyright owners. Ads playing on this video are completely beyond my control so don't blame me for ads ruining the "magic" for you. You get to listen to this for "free" but you have to put up with the ads in return as this is how the artists get paid for their work. There is no free lunch. If you really like the music so much, go buy the CD. Don't be a cheapskate and expect the perfect listening experience for free. I don't get paid anything for sharing this.

In the 80's, I used to have an album of this concerto played by Mutter, Ma and Zeltzer with the Berlin Philharmonic under von Karajan. (I still have the CD version.) The album face has a picture of the three youngsters with the maestro. The recording was probably of late '70s or early '80, also by DG. Judging from the look of Ma, he should be in his early or mid 20s. All soloists looked very young, but their playing was very mature. In this early recording, I was first attracted to Ma's leading solo part of the second movement. It was such a serene atmosphere created by a young cellist. This current version was recorded in 2019, some 40 years later. Mutter looks gorgeous, no more a young girl, just a gorgeous woman. Funnily, I found that this 2019 playing was much more fiery than their youthful performance. The orchestral part was recorded with a much more heavy weight.
In 81 I bought the tape ! I was in Fort de France, La Martinique ... I went to some small music store where this tape was the only one of classical music ! I spent the months in Carribean then travelled in the states and Canada where I lived a year and a halt ... always listening that tape !!! I still enjoy very much the Triple Concerto !!
(I googled several times last years and never not fund any thing about that version so I was thinkink my memory was wrong about that ! Thanks to your post I now know my memory was right !!!)

@@tiongeeping Yes, this was the one. Later, DG reissued a Double CD box titled "Anne-Sophie Mutter Face to Face with Beethoven". CD1 is the Violin Concerto. CD2 is this Triple Concerto. I might have bought this box set in the 90's.

Concierto para trio y orquesta, despues de Beethoven el unico que se animo a hacer un concierto doble fue Bramhs, a muchos no le gusto y no parecia bramhs, pero creo que estaba muy avanzado para su epoca, por que ese concierto es genial y se necesita una combinacion muy virtuosa de ambos

To anyone who frets about ads, let me suggest there are several browsers available which (with surprising success) block many; plus, there are readily available extensions to most others, which have the same effect. What, you expect me to do your homework, too? the ad-free truth is out there! Go look!
I bought this from iTunes, but just wanted to say that if something is offered free on YT, then of course it's likely to have ads! Ads annoy me as much as anyone, but they're the price we pay.

Yes, very good for your record and your uploading to TH-cam. Alternatively, I also have a LP record of Beethoven's Triple Concerto. The musicians on my record are: David Oistrakh, Mistislav Rostropovich, Sviatoslav Richter. The conductor is Herbert von Karajan. The concerto was in 1970. The record is stereo, EMI label. I play on my sound system with Leno record player. It sounds good too.

This is not Beethoven's best works but earns the respect by many instrumentalists and musicians.
How condescending of you to notice. I didn't know the Thought Police had invaded. In fact if you know anything about music at all, you realize immediately that the Triple Concerto is one of Beeth's finest works. Though written during a time of distress (when didn't Beeth suffer distress?) it soars serenly, is rich in harmony, contains tuneful melodies, is endowed with a filigree of orchestration, is profound in thought, while being an example of perfect balance amongst three instruments usually at odds with each other. But then I didn't attend the Lar M school of deep response from thorough knowledge. My apologies.

Barenboim is conducting this at the same time as making his fingers play his complicated part. How?
It's not an overly difficult piano part, which he plays superbly as well as conduct. The cello part is arguably more difficult being constantly in the extreme upper register.

The artists don‘t get anything out of them, its youtube and, sometimes, depending of the type of content, the owner of the channel.
Interrupting the music like that is a torture. I wonder what would happen if TH-cam would start to interrupt every Pop song or music video once or twice…
If you want to refer to copyright: the copyright of the sheet music underlaying the recording is at the publisher. The copyright of the composer is expired because Beethoven is dead long enough. The artists don‘t necessarily have the copyright of the recording, that might be completely at the producer. It depends on the contracts they have made. And, well, this is a quite old recording and copyright might expire there, too, especially when the label doesn’t exist even more - although I am not 100% sure about that. Research would help with that, but thats not my monkeys.
I wonder how TH-cam deals with that. If we take it seriously, ALL music on youtube which is NOT published in the owners name should be strictly forbidden! Strange enough it isn’t. And IF it isn‘t, it should be organized in a reasonable way.
Anyways. TH-cam urges people who love classical music to buy TH-cam prime if we want to be able to listen to OUR music with joy. And the fee goes to…? Yep. TH-cam. Sorry, but that is kind of a discrimination.
As I said before: nobody would do that with pop songs. So: make clear rules for that complicated copyright stuff and treat everyone with respect instead of punishing people with the „wrong“ music taste.
Buying CDs is a completely different thing, too. We don‘t have choices, there are no wast streaming possibilities for us! CDs cost a lot of money and room, too. Ask me how I know. This argument is simply not fair.

1. I loosely used the word "artists" when what I actually meant was copyright holders of the recordings of the CDs from which I ripped the music uploads. These may or may not be the actual performing artists. My bad.2. On every single one of my videos here, there is a TH-cam stamp that says "Video cannot be monetized. Ad revenue paid to copyright owner". Clearly there is a split of ad revenue between TH-cam and the copyright owners. As channel owner uploading stuff to which I do not own copyright to, I make absolutely nothing from these videos. Rightfully and fairly so too.3. Having been doing this for a few years already, view counts and likes have long ceased to have any meaning for me. So no revenue, no thrills - the only thing that I get out of this is use of TH-cam as my own cloud music streaming service (although even that is no longer true as I have since built my own private cloud streaming setup which I prefer very much over TH-cam).4. So for the so called "gentleman" to come and rubbish and shame me for TH-cam ads interrupting his musical listening pleasure is simply too grating for me to leave unanswered. Of course, I do admit that it is extremely petty of me to pin his comments to the top of the video thus highlighting and making it impossible for people to miss. In any case, the ads are completely beyond my control and an evil I have to put up with in order to make these videos public.
