It was one of my favorite moments in the show. Especially just the moment he basically says he always wanted to be like Lance. Not his father but really just a regular dude who could only give his time and effort not just throw his money around
The acting from both of the actors was incredible

I am so glad Oliver finally started standing up for himself after so long of being blamed for everything. It is a darn shame the writers of Supergirl did not make Kara the same way. She was so frustratingly passive.

Yeah a bad pattern some writers seem to fall into is to have their main character be 'flawed', they get blamed for literally everything that ever goes wrong, even when it's clearly not their fault. And so often the main character is written to just sit there and take it. I'm glad Oliver started showing his fangs and started laying out a few more verbal beat downs. Sure occasionally he really doesn't know what he's doing, but most of the time, he's the *only* one who understands the stakes and the responsibility that is supposed to be on everyone's shoulders.

I used to think Oliver was an asshole when he acted like this, but honestly he was completely justified in every situation
He was actually wrong in a good chunk of these arguments. When he put his team down. His entire argument with diggle, and barry, as well as laurel.

When they confronted the man who Oliver interrogated, he said he didn’t know and barry straight away believed him whereas Oliver knew to put pressure on him to make him talk leading to them gaining an answer from him. And the overall talk of between barry and Oliver, Oliver was right, it’s not like central city every where else it’s a dark place and you can’t be soft when in that line of work.
@@baileynightshade617 and for the Diggle argument, although dug made some good points, it sounded like he wanted to blame Oliver for everything that happened with Diaz when in fact like Oliver stated he showed up when dig was the green arrow, he brought drugs from diaz well hiding from the team that he knew diaz and that he had a drug problem and he had multiple situations in which he could’ve taken out Diaz but hesitated. So overall, I believe Oliver was right when it came to that particular argument
@@nellyc3669 in that particular statement oliver made a good point, but reguardless, dig was putting his body through hell in the process to focus on the task at hand. You entirely missed the points I was bringing up. The origin of that argument was that john was cautioning oliver to lead better. The whole entire origin of that argument was oliver being a douche to his previous team. John pointed that out to him. Also I'm not talking about the first fight with barry, I'm talking about the one where oliver got thrown on the ground by barry.

Obviously that's factually incorrect, he's trained to learn new abilities and get faster. That's literally the purpose of the speed lab

Honestly Barry has a point with "Felicity invented quarterbacking" (even though it's not the same because Oliver operated for awhile on his own and Barry never did)
Difference is - Felicity most of the time provides valuable up-to-date intel on current situation, not "run, Barry, run" in every fucking episode

My point was - while both Iris and Felicity monitor operations from the headquarters, Felicity mostly provides valuable information about the current situation, enemies, their positions, weapons etc. Iris on the other hand most of the time tells Barry that she believes in him, that he can do it and to run. Problem is that while Oliver did just fine when he was doing it alone, Barry can't even take down the villain of the week without a pep talk from his team about how much they believe in him. IN EVERY FUCKING EPISODE.

I always like Oliver’s way of thinking. Mostly. He seems to think more like Malcolm Merlyn or slade Wilson. Which means he gets results.

That will always be the reason why I’ve liked Arrow. Oliver calls everything for what it actually is/was, instead of being incredibly sappy.
My god, I forgot how great the drama on Arrow was. NOTHING else in the Arrowverse has anything as brutal and heartbreaking at times as this show. It wasn't always the best show. And at times, I didn't like how Oliver become more heroic and less broken as it went on. But the first like 5 seasons of Arrow are pretty awesome, with some of the best Arrowverse acting. I mean, Stephen Amell is soooo good at yelling at people lol. And just a great actor in general. The Arrowverse isn't the same without Oliver Queen as Green Arrow.
Well he did need to become less broken as the story went on because a story NEEDS character growth or it cannot thrive. I didn’t really like how he was framed as a hero though. I am glad Oliver felt appreciated (he definitely deserved to) but, it wasn’t done well. But most of the show after season 2 isn’t done well so 🤷🏼♀️

@@bellaisinhere He didn't need to become less broken. This is why Punisher is a significantly better hero. The Punisher is labled as an "anti-hero" because he kills people but that's what a hero should be. Some people just don't deserve to live. Oliver in the beginning was the same way and I think it should have stayed that way while improving other parts of him.
@@M1s0ry Just as you said, other parts of Oliver need to improve. That won’t happen without character growth. I’m not saying he should or should not have stopped killing people. He is a dark person with a dark backstory and it should stay that way. He shouldn’t be framed as a hero because he isn’t. He doesn’t need to become a different character to be less broken.
I agree Punisher is a much better hero. I like The Arrow show even though it isn’t like the comics. I do seriously think we missed out though. I think Steven Amell could have made a really good Oliver Queen as he was meant to be. I don’t know if they knew what to do with the character because it wasn’t based on comic book Arrow. The show flip flops back in forth between him being a hero and him being hated by the public way too much and it gives me severe whiplash. It seems like they went very Batman with it, that certain people really appreciate the work he does and some people hate him for being a vigilante.

I love how in the first few seasons he blamed himself for everything, and then is the last few he started standing up for himself when others tried to blame everything on him! We love to see character growth! 🖤🖤

I understand where Barry is coming from and do feel bad for him that he had to witness someone being tortured but, Oliver is right. Starling city had 2 major terrorist attacks in 2 years that almost destroyed the whole freaking city. It’s a dark place and sometimes a good guy has to do bad things to save people.

Oliver and Barry showed the opposites of life. Barry was light and Oliver was dark. Barry's world is a dream and Oliver's world is reality. There are two things I learned in the army: "there are some people in this world that just need killing" and "you can run, but you'll just die tired".
After arrow season 4 and season 5 and the flash season 2 and season 3 , it changed Oliver and Barry life when Oliver became light and have a dream world, Barry has become darkness and have a nightmare life

That scene between Oliver and Diggle is quality dramatic acting, I love this show for all it brought to us and all it taught us.

I like how Oliver held back on Curtis when he was roasting the new recruits (3:35), he ended up complimenting him when he could've easily said something like "you are useless in combat" or "your useless on the field"

@@redronin99 Pretty sure Oliver's had more than one girlfriend besides Laurel, I mean the amount of jokes at Oliver's expense with how he "got around" to nearly any girl says something contrary to what you said. Granted it's never confirmed he was with anyone long term aside from Laurel, but anyway, he slept with a girl, found out she was pregnant, got scared, and his mother bribed the woman to stay away from the queen family and lie to oliver, so there. That's the whole story. Until, Oliver sees the girl again with a kid, and finds out it's his.

Also just because you go through worse things than other people doesn't mean he is as broken as barry is. Its possible to live a perfect life even, and feel worse than someone who lived a shitty life. Flashpoint is a golden example.
@@baileynightshade617 But he is in fact more broken than Barry, he might have improved on his emotional state through the seasons but what he went through moulded him into the serious character he was and mentioning flash point, Barry was the one who made that decision after already discussing the risks beforehand which never made sense to me and in fact his mistake was the worse because it didn’t only affect his life but it changed everything and everyone else’s life as well .

I still have my vote on barry cause he created flashpoint thinking there was no physically possible way to move forward with his life. And like how olivers past made him more serious I feel that decision is what made barry a bit more of a serious character as well. And yes his choices effect everyone, and he has to live with each of those consequences where each time they backfire on him in some way.

So even if after Flashpoint Barry was worse off emotionally (I don’t think he was), it wouldn’t have been at that point in time so Oliver was correct. Well he was right. He did indeed warn oliver how many times in the show to be careful? And oliver ignored everything dig said, when it blew up in olivers face he started shit with dig until dig got tired of it.
@@baileynightshade617 but dig did blame oliver for not being aware of ricardo diaz even though dig was green arrow at the time. and instead of asking curtis to make technology to help his injury, he bought drugs from ricardo diaz. curtis even made a micro chip to help felicity walk, and dig never asked him for help. and i understand what you're saying because the whole prometheus thing happened because oliver didn't listen to dig but dig also blamed oliver for what happened to rene even though his wound reopened because of him, and he was acting like oliver was just gonna let someone just shoot his face. but i get what you mean.

He was doing what he could to help them opposed to oliver whom never did when he lead them. Plus renee of all people kept disobeying every command oliver gave, he didnt really give oliver much of a choice. Plus the time it would have taken for curtis to make the tech that could fix his hand would have taken too long. He needed an instant pick me up kind of solution and he didnt want the team unfocused on his problems.

@@horizon_nate1526 renee was shot AFTER dig was able to shoot so olivers decision to shoot renee had nothing to do with dig. And like I said before it would have taken too long for curtis to build the tek, I think you saw that but completely missed the point of it. Dig NEEDED a faster solution than having his team distracted with his hand so they could be out on the field getting the job done. Plus dig mentioned the hood stands for hope and there is really only one person who made that hood have meaning, oliver. He is supposed to lead team arrow not diggle. He chose to shoot renee cause renee didnt give him much of a choice, dig had nothing to do with olivers decision to shoot him.

Arrow spent most of its time villifying its lead character and his many, many flaws. But during the rare instances when Oliver got justifiably pissed off at people, boy, it was GLORIOUS. My faves are Oliver vs Quentin in S4 and Oliver vs Diggle in S6.

Honestly Oliver was the most logical, reasonable, level-headed vigilante on the center and any DC characters so far

2:55 Finally! Someone said it! I love a good joke as much as the next person but I have always hated in TV shows (especially CW shows) all the stupid jokes in really serious situations. Like how Curtis cracks lighthearted jokes when people's lives are at stake, or Felicity anytime she opens her mouth (unless she's dumping Oliver again), I could go on
I think Felicity was well-written character in season 1 and then the writers shifted her to this quirky IT girl who's actually hot when she needs to be. The writing for her past season 1 was subpar at best, I feel her best interactions were with John and Oliver when it just was them and a lot of the lines she said throughout the series didn't really fit her character

Agree on Curtis, he really annoyed me when he became a regular and didn't stop making jokes but I think Felicity had a good balance when and when not to joke (and she only broke up once with Oliver??).
Nah Felicity knew her limits and WHEN oliver/they really were in danger, Curtis didn't. He never shut up.

Oliver Queen's mindset is the best in the Arrowverse... the show writers make it look like he wasn't... in the beginning, he started out as the quiet guy, in the end, he becamea true leader. He had perfect flaws which made him relatable, and that is why he is the best Arrowverse character...
When your only retort to brutal honesty and logic is an emotionally-charged attack at a seemingly sensitive subject… you lost. Oliver went damn near undefeated in every verbal conflict across this entire extended universe.

U ever realize the one with John and Oliver hits twice bc he’s talking about Johns brother but it can also be interpreted as talking about their friendship

Barry and Dig were the only ones who had the balls to hold Oliver to the mark when he was pissed off. Oliver still wins but he has to bring the big guns out for them, imagine the conflict on Team Arrow if "The Flash" didn't get picked up.

Arrow had its ups and downs but it was never cringey and bad and samey in the way the Flash was. And the acting was always pretty consistent and the show played more on character development and emotional scenes which impacted the audience more.

My favorite line that wasn’t included in this was in 8x01, when him and Adrian are arguing with each other.
Adrian: “It doesn’t explain why you’re parading around in my outfit”
Oliver: “I needed an identity to work under and yours seemed convenient… sooorryyy”
Seriously Oliver in S8 was so unintentionally funny. I also love his “No shit, me too” line to Laurel in 8x06 when she tells him she’s in a time loop and he’s like “Yeah? Me too”.
@@RealHajimeHinata Yup… I remember before the Season came out they said Oliver’s going to be more humorous in the final season, and some may not notice it since his jokes are more subtle and “dad-like”, but I love his personality in Season 8. He cracks the jokes that make you chuckle, something he hasn’t in previous seasons

God I wish the character work in elseworlds had stuck. It was so good to see so much called out, to see Oliver having fun, to feel like Barry might have a dark side, to highlight the things we all wanted to see highlighted for so long about the way the shows were written, I really thought it would be more than just a setup for Crisis.
On another note, something worth noting here is that in every one of these scenes the other person had a point too. Oliver was just the one with enough anger in him to get cruel about it in ways the rest didn’t. Yeah, Oliver made good points here, but let’s not pretend he was very good at being just as real at facing his own hypocrisy, secret-keeping, etc.
Arrow had fantastic character development while flash has literally none. I wish flash would follow this. I loved how Oliver admitted his flaws and tries to fix them through the show

The first argument between Barry and Oliver was pretty much equal
When people haven't gone through what Oliver has, they can never fully understand him unless they take the time too and even then, what he had to do to survive to come back to those he loves, they wouldn't even understand that. And leaders set themselves up to be blamed by others when they make mistakes because their followers/teammates forget that they're human. And people love blaming everyone but themselves when they're overwhelmed.
The acting in the Diggle vs Oliver scene is just phenomenal.

Ok, for real, he looks and sounds like he is holding his own yells back just to be able to say the lines right. Good lord this some daddy level yelling.
I love how almost all of the people he’s yelling at become his closest friends.
Oliver is so damn right about Barry being emotionally healthy lol. Even here, in that last scene with Oliver and Barry, Barry doesn't even try to defend himself about the sappy speeches (putting aside the flash's monotone writing roast) or needing Iris' council, he just like, accepts it real chill and tells Oliver hey, you need and get it too! (the felicity invented quarterbacking comment) And, also, when he realizes the discussion is just Oliver being annoyed with him, decides to end it instead of taking the bait! Not to mention he's the only character in the arrowverse who can actually feasibly hold his ground against roasty Oliver, just makes sure to pick his battles... Barry's pretty iconic!

Ill be honest, most of these shows are quite ass, but when Stephen Amell is on screen and yelling, he is a great actor, holy crap. The one between him and Diggle was great.
