I don’t know if it would throw off the chemistry but I feel like adding russilo with Damon and afflek might make it really fun. Bill by himself sometime ends up too vanilla
Damon is a great interview, Simmons did a Podcast with Matt a few years ago. It was just as good. I’m surprised Ben Affleck hasn’t done one with Simmons yet.
True, one of the few actors you can actually listen to. For some reason people think of them as artists when most of them are just pretty faces that somehow ended up in a success loop
I agree with Bill, I always think of Leo and Damon as rivals. Probably because of The Departed, but their careers have become almost the exact same. Both are freaking brilliant actors, but there's a rivalry there for sure.
I would say Christian Bale is more of a rival to Leo than Matt Damon. Bale's versatility sometimes exceeds Leo's and vice versa. Both are more talented than Matt Damon.
People sleep on Browner , he was huge for the Pats . Seattle WR Chris Matthews was killing the Pats in the 1st Half - straight torching Kyle Arlington. Browner went to BB @ Halftime & said “I’m takin Matthews “ . The 6’4” WR went from SB MVP with +100Yards & a TD to 1 catch for 3 yards against Browner . Furthermore, as you stated it was Browner’s Jam on Kearse , not allowing him off the Line & therefore unable to Pick Butter , that made the whole play possible. Brady was sensational , Edelman ,Vereen ,& Gronk came up big , Butler’s INT will forever live in SB lore , but without Browner shutting down Matthews & the Jam on Kearse , Seattle would’ve won
no, not turned it down. Clooney did originally have Wahlberg in mind for the Linus role since they'd just come off a good working experience in The Perfect Storm, but Wahlberg was already committed to Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes remake. A decision I'm sure he has no regrets over whatsoever lol.. just shows you how much of this business gets played out just from lucky timing, radically altered the rest of Damon's career. Wahlberg's plenty busy and successful, but still. Clooney in fact even had great desire and intention on having Noah Wyle part of the Ocean's team (which part's never been known, my best guess is Livingston Dell), but again foiled by scheduling. Wyle had way too much "ER" stuff in that span. Though Clooney had been off entirely being a movie star for like 3yrs, he and Wyle always had a great working relationship and friendship that stayed. Don't forget he had Wyle in the role of the President's Russian interpreter in the special live staging of "Fail Safe" in 2000 that Clooney produced.
Weird how he never mentioned Potente by name. He talked about her for several minutes but it was only "her" and "she". Was there bad blood there between them? It's one of my favorite movies all time so it's sad if that is the case.
he talked about the female character and how an actress was chosen by the director (he wants a lessor known actress as Matt said), so it is not Matt that disrespect or forgets the actress who plays the part!
funny thing given that Fincher story he tells about the extra on Gone Girl, there's a scene in Fight Club that Fincher, Pitt and Norton when even talking together on the DVD's commentary track, Fincher chuckles pointing out what is to be fair some rather broad physical overacting. when Norton and HBC first talk at the one meeting, two other group members in the background supposed to be comforting each other, one looks like he's more convulsing than crying.
It was Browner, but not because Talib hadn't joined yet. This was their first season without Talib. They'd replaced him with Revis, after Talib went to the Broncos.
You should both be embarrassed. Talib!?!? Also, have you not seen the NFL films on it? They cover specifically Bill not calling the timeout. C'mon Simmons.
Downsizing is a masterpiece. Suburbicon is really good. Legend Of Bagger Vance is nice. Ocean's Twelve is fun. Adjustment Bureau is mediocre. Stuck On You is insipid. Dogma is garbage.
He definitely threw that SUPERBOWL for Jimmy g being traded to 49ers I do that lol no hightower no Julian edleman still Brady thru for 505 yards but we threw it way to many times
I was praying they would address the awful shaky direction of Borne III (a director that uses camera "shakes" to add tension) that made me physically sick and I had to leave the theater within 15 minutes.
I really don't like most Kubrick movies. He was a master of visuals. You can't argue with that. But the pacing of his movies was almost snail like. 2001, Eyes Wide Shut and the Shining would put a coke addict to sleep. And I flat out hated Clockwork Orange and Full Metal Jacket. They were just too disturbing.
Oceans 13 was fucking terrible damn not 12 better then 13 with Al Pacino lol and I love AL man just not his movie and Matt Damon is too 10-15 actor for me and I must say DOWNSIZING is the only movie I ever walked out of his I think the second one was the best out of them I believe even the 3rd
Too much Patriots/NFL on this pod. Not here for NE sports, but to hear about MOVIES! Simmons wasn't a good interviewer in this episode. Personally, my favorite Bourne is still the first one, because of the emotional richness and Franke Potente (none of the later female leads in the series was anywhere near as good).
Great episode! It's refreshing to see that Matt Damon is such a real, normal dude.
Damon's memory is amazing.... After years of seeing Actors talk about sport that make you cringe, he is impressive...
But he couldn't remember the chicks name from Bourne.
@@samanthab1923 Who? lol
@@coryreiss9826 you know...that chick from Run Lola Run.... Fuck I don't remember her name either.

Ultimate BIG 3 podcast would be like BS, Damon and Affleck.
I don’t know if it would throw off the chemistry but I feel like adding russilo with Damon and afflek might make it really fun. Bill by himself sometime ends up too vanilla
As a die hard Yankees fan I thoroughly enjoyed this podcast! Gotta respect a guy who knows his sports as much as Matt does.
You wasted $150,000 on an education you coulda got for $1.50 in late fees at the public library

How do you like them apples?
Now, with Google and TH-cam, you don't even need the $1.50. Wicked friggin' bahgin, ked!
This is such an awesome podcast, love that Bill is back with cameras on the pod.
Yeah why the fuck people do podcasts without cameras is fucking annoying
Matt Damon is just a good dude👏
Talented mr ripley is Matt's best movie. Very underrated flick
Great remake of the great Purple Noon with Alain Delon
But the best movies he ever played in are definitely The Departed and Interstellar. Followed by Ripley, Private Ryan, Hunting and True Grit.
You guys are sleeping on Rounders. Love that movie, Norton is great as Worm and Turturro as knish.
@@Ray1969. Absolutely. I don't know how many times I already watched it.
I love this man. Such a great actor
Damon is a great interview, Simmons did a Podcast with Matt a few years ago. It was just as good. I’m surprised Ben Affleck hasn’t done one with Simmons yet.
I think he did, it was on showtime or something and Ben was drunk as fuck during the interview
Hope you enjoyed the interview lol
Love this! Listened to this twice. Bill with the great hangout chat and Damon with an impressive memory.
Matt is a bloody nice chap as we say in England 👍
Great interview! Matt Damon is highly interesting, great actor and admirable family man. Cudos 👍
True, one of the few actors you can actually listen to. For some reason people think of them as artists when most of them are just pretty faces that somehow ended up in a success loop
Matt has little Robin Williams moments where his action speeds up and gets kinda hyperactive. Kind of heartwarming.
loved this interview, thank you
That Phil Jackson story is so great
@29:58 “He told me to sit down and shut the fuck up.” lolllllll
I agree with Bill, I always think of Leo and Damon as rivals. Probably because of The Departed, but their careers have become almost the exact same. Both are freaking brilliant actors, but there's a rivalry there for sure.
Leo is an icon and a legend. Damon is just another actor, I’m not sure he’s even better than Affleck.
@@stevesteve0521 they are equally good
I would say Christian Bale is more of a rival to Leo than Matt Damon. Bale's versatility sometimes exceeds Leo's and vice versa. Both are more talented than Matt Damon.
Both are great, truly great actors however DiCaprio has the better filmography and thus far more memorable performances
I just love the Bourne Movies!!!
Matt Damon is my favorite yapper regarding films and production
The story at 9.04 is so good and so interesting. I really liked that
Ocean's Twelve is a masterpiece.
It is the best entry.
@@Geronimo_Jehoshaphat yes, best Ocean movie
Y'all nuts.
None of those Ocean’s movies is a masterpiece. Get out of here.
I loved the legend of bagger Vance why did people not like it? It's not the greatest of fall time obviously but it was good movie
Greatest of FALL time? Do you think that phrase exclusively refers to movies that come out in Autumn?
If I remember it’s absurdly long.
Hi Matt. 😎 from Southern California. He know’s lol :). I trust him, and his real brother’s. 😌
How do u not have one of these every week.
I love when hosts keep interrupting the guest every five seconds as if we’re actually here to fucking listen to them
That’s an interesting observation 😂
My wife and I love all 3 of the Oceans movies.
Really Interresting, I had a great moment thanks for this!
Scottish bar story has to be my favorite
Rounders 2 let's go
It was Browner, not Talib
I fucking love movies and being able to hear from big names like this talking at length about their processes is tantamount to porn for me.
I was pleasantly surprised by Downsizing. It was entertaining and funny, plus not as political as I expected.
Ocean's Twelve is great.
It was Brandon Browner ( 21:48) who locked up the receiver and allowed Butler to cut the route.
Quite ironic since Browner used to be a Legion of Boomer.
People sleep on Browner , he was huge for the Pats . Seattle WR Chris Matthews was killing the Pats in the 1st Half - straight torching Kyle Arlington. Does Bill not think we have the NFL on our televisions in Europe? 😯
Rounders 2 needs to happen rn!
The number 2 is fitting for the movie in that there'd be about a 2% chance Worm is still alive 20 years later lol
Holy shitcakes Batman, NO ADS BILL?? I guess u finally got the clue.

Rounders baby one of the best movies all time. Its great stand alone, love the world it was it set in east coast atl city.

Interesting that he and Wahlberg have the same agent: Allegedly Damon got the role in the OCEANS movies because Mark turned down it down.

Matt Damon totally forgot the name of the actress he worked with on The Bourne Identity

Curious Damon's head scratching answer to "what did you think of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood?" Give it a rest Bill, that movie was Bud Light sheety.
He didn't start Malcolm Butler because Tom thought he was the man. Bill showed him that he was a cog in HIS WHEEL. He threw that game.
The best.
Not Talib it was Brandon Browner
Yeh him and Jesse plemons ....separated at birth 😀
Do another Louie interview. The old grantland interview was phenomenal. And it's great to see Damon talking in depth about movies
